NCAA Basketball 10 News Post

No franchise was more in need of a makeover last fall than EA's (formerly known as) March Madness series. The crescendo of the franchise's downfall came with March Madness 08, which turned out to be the equivalent of a number 16 seed after the first day of the NCAA Tournament -- routed by a vastly superior opponent and lucky to even have been invited to the big dance. Thankfully, EA listened to the criticism leveled at the March Madness series and decided to start from scratch. The result was NCAA Basketball 09.

NCAA Basketball 09 corrected many of the nagging issues from the March Madness series and implemented a core experience that could be built upon in future iterations of the series. While the game was ultimately crippled by some annoying bugs (for example, playing zone against the CPU would force an ungodly amount of turnovers) and a lackluster dynasty mode, the overall game was a very solid Freshman effort by EA. 2008 marked the year that the developers at EA once again made their college basketball offering relevant.

And now with the first week of college basketball upon us, it is only natural that EA has released NCAA Basketball 10. Touting revolutionary television presentation, an all-new motion offense mechanic and yearly team and player "dynamic" updates, NCAA Basketball 10 is ready to up the tempo and try to run all other 2009 hoops competition out of the gym.

So is the game ready to ascend to the level of a UNC, UCLA and Michigan State, or is NCAA 10's bubble going to burst well before March?

How can the game get a 6? I keep playing it and keep liking it more and more. How long was the game played before the score came out? You also could not have played with named rosters unless you did them all yourself. That makes a huge difference as well.

The game can not be reviewed correctly without seeing how the dynamic updates work either.

it's amazing how people's low expectations (Live, NCAABB 10) for a game cause them to defend a poor game and push the glaring negatives to the side...

just like every other release...in a couple weeks nobody will defend this game.

I think as long as we remember it is a game and understand that it has flaws and one can choose to deal with them or move on to something else then it will be no reason to defend the game.

At the end of the day the game is fun, it's a change of pace from the Pro games and has a College feel. For what I was expecting which wasn't much it has exceeded my expectations.

Though I only have the demo, I tend to agree with you. I have found the demo to be very fun and competitive. The presentation alone makes the game a step up from any other college offering.

After getting game home and honestly spending the last few hours with it, and really looking into all that is featured! So far the game is easily a 7.5 to an 8. Even with missing schools and not having the real schedules at the moment.

No where near a low 6 ratings, that's just insulting, especially when it's definitely better than 09.

Game is pure fun, IMO! And graphically impressive for a College Game, presentation is insane and so realistic. And they do say the names.

If you're that confident though, I'll gladly make a wager with you that I'll be in here two weeks from now still enjoying the hell out of this game as well.

Dnt agree ith the score, 6 is too low. This game is better than last year, where the average score was 7. This time it deserve between 7 and 8 (some glitches like Live, but great great fun).

And its amazing that people can't grasp the concept that others may actually enjoy a game they feel is a poor/terrible.

BTW...we've covered the negatives of the game, and guess what? We're still enjoying it. Thats not pushing them aside, thats accepting them and determining that they aren't enough of a problem to cause us not to enjoy the game.

I'm actually enjoying this game more than live. It is a solid game. The presentation rivals NFL 2k5 and the gameplay is very addicting. I'm to the point now where I realize we will never get the perfect game we are all looking for. Its a video game that's supposed to mimic what we see on TV. I think the game does that and more. Flaws aside I like this game so any review or poster that doesn't it is there opinion. If you don't like the game don't buy it and please stop bashing us who enjoy the game.

I couldn't agree more. I really like this game. It has some flaws and lacks the depth of CH 2k8, but I really enjoy it. Maybe I'm looking past the flaws because it is so fun.

I agree as well. It is just a blast to play. And in the end, isn't that what matters most?

I'm waiting for that ND/UofL online matchup.

Whats your center's name...ummm...I can't think of it, but anyways, he's no match for Samardo Samuels.
