NBA 2K10 News Post

I and a few others were lucky enough to attend the NBA 2K10 launch party here in NYC.

We were given full copies of the game and are willing to answer questions.

The only thing I'm going to tell you guys right now:

NO QUESTIONS ABOUT RATINGS. We already post them in the NBA 2K10 screenshots section.

Ok, let the madness begin.

Reds do seem to be off. Thought it might've been the TV but these are straight caps from the system.

It takes some getting used to but it's not drastically different. Once you figure it out, you'll be able to control your player just as well as 2k8. That's an EARLY impression, so give me some more time with the game.

lastly, and the biggest reason I quit playing 2k9 so early. CPU PASSES TO CUTTING PLAYERS resulting in many many many points in the paint. They had an inherent desire for those baskets. Many of them occurred with passes THROUGH my teams players hands, bodies, and heads. If They wanted to score, they would find a way. That incessant desire of the CPU AI turned me off from this game. I would play great defense and literally do all I could, but a bounce pass went through three of my players legs to a cutting player. what im asking is, have they cut down on the cpu cut passes? It may seem weird to ask, but anytime you feel like you were robbed defensively, pause the game and find out why.

btw, is staples center laker court lavendar or dark purple? the past few trailers have been giving conflicting answers
The offense isn't forcing their way into the paint. They're actually running an offense. I've actually seen them go in and out in my short time with the game already. Ball goes into Shaq, he waits, I come over with Nelson, Mo slides over and Shaq hits him for a three.

Too early to tell. I'm running plays and I've had them break, but there is certainly more leeway this year than in years past.

It feels like that same engine tightened up with NBA players. The Combine gives you a good idea of what to expect.

Greetings,

I have a question, You know when you look up friends online with the xbox button on the controller and it shows the games being played, can you guys Show the score of the game being played instead of "playing association mode" or "Playing quick Game", Also in the online league games that are being played they show scores around the league in real life, how bout scores of games being played in your online league. I dont know if you handle that part but could you pass that along to the programmers. Thanks..

Ya this is something I thought was already done in 2k9. I will make a strong push to make sure this is in all our 2k10 titles though

Definitely more of a mid-range game by the CPU on All-Star. Anthony Parker just used the triple threat to get me into a screen, then popped a J.

EDIT: Yes, next possession, Pick and Pop to Ilgauskas from the top of the key.

# 70 Pared @ 09/25/09 03:21 AM
There are new camera angles when the CPU is shooting FT's... nice.

Could you post some after game stats once you get the time to. Cheers.

# 72 renewill27 @ 09/25/09 03:23 AM
are the camera angles the same as last year

thanks Pared. thats one thing I spent hours trying to fix for 2k9.

Last question as you play more games. How are rotations and defensive assignments? In 2k9, I could leave my assignment for just a brief second, and a CPU teammate will rotate towards him leaving HIS assignment open. In essence, His assignment was usually either in scoring position, or a better rated player that should NEVER left open. All sorts of chaos ensuing. The CPU had a one track mind " player is not being "guarded", let me help" meanwhile the help he's providing means nothing as the CPU player cuts to the basket and receives the lead pass for the score. That example is a true tie in for both the lead passes and defensive assignments.. Basically once that help from the cpu teammate arrived, the CPU player was programmed to cut to the basket. In theory the logic is correct, but the execution was off on the human teams end.

sorry to get so technical. just something to think about as you play

I'd like to know this as well!

Also, is the paint color of Staples Center as dark as it's depicted in the ign video of the Lakers vs Cavs? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7n4EBuWJe3k

Thanks for answering our questions!

Again, there is definite slowdown at times... seems like it's when the camera goes to zoom in.

I've turned key zoom off and it has helped but it is definitely there.

Using the default camera angle (Broadcast).

Just changed it to showtime - even worse. Might be too much going on in the crowd.

Completely random side note: the crowd doesn't follow Lebron when he does the rosin toss. That's a shame, I would have expected that to be in.
