NBA 2K10 Q&A: Retail Copy in Hand

I and a few others were lucky enough to attend the NBA 2K10 launch party here in NYC.

We were given full copies of the game and are willing to answer questions.

The only thing I'm going to tell you guys right now:

NO QUESTIONS ABOUT RATINGS. We already post them in the NBA 2K10 screenshots section.

I just wanna comment on the way this thread has been going

it was a slow rise with the questions

then peaked when pared started making his impressions

somewhere in the middle there was a plunge with the cav's headband situation (on a personal note you are not alone, as the lakers look like they wear white warmups for yellow uni's)

i do have a question though about the framerate

is that framerate skipping issue with online play only or is it also offline play? (being an association kind of player that i am)

Playing Blazers @ Warriors right now trying to run the PnR with Roy and Ald. So far I've seen the AI switch, show/slip, trap and fight through. Not sure they're defending it differently based on the personnel I'm using as I'm only using Roy and Aldridge. Nice to see different looks but doesn't seem they're using any type of defensive game plan. Unless of course their game plan is to show me different looks.

Just wondering, which system are you playing it on? and are the both versions of 360 and PS3 the same graphically?

Obviously you choose the sound you want to play for "DE-FENSE.. DE-FENSE" and something like "DEEEEEETROIT BASKETBALLLLLL"

sounds good but i dont know any place to download chants...i was hoping they had editable sound effects for missed/made freethrows....id like to add Homer saying d'oh after someone misses...

thanks for the impressions guys, im especially excited about the impression on how the AI drive and kick, and vary their offense.

i thought AI offense in the last game was really very poor and from the sounds of it, its now the opposite.

cant wait for the game now.

although this is the first im hearing of auto-post up, which is a bummer cause like you i find it VERy bad in Live

Not the entire playbook but here are the default plays assigned to each postition.

Thanks for the info Pared and MC! I do wish one of you guys had the PC version, but hopefully this will all carry over to that version.

I haven't played 2K since the Dreamcast days so I don't have a whole lot of questions. Based on first impressions, how do you feel about the game compared to 2K's offerings over the past years?

One quick question:

Does the game reward and require playing real basketball to be successful? For example, in order to be successful, do you have to work the ball around and find the best shot? One thing I liked about the Live demo is that it felt as if each shot was earned. You couldn't just go down, move around really fast, and just shoot in that demo. So, is it the same for 2k. Is this year's 2k more strategic and methodical? Will just jerking the controls or trying to cheese lead to failure?

Also, can Shaq guard CP3? In other words, can a big man stay with a small guard?

Do mismatches actually matter?

How are the shooting percentages holding up User vs CPU? And how many minutes you are playing to get realistic scores on all-star or othe difficulty?
