NBA 2K10 Q&A: Retail Copy in Hand

I and a few others were lucky enough to attend the NBA 2K10 launch party here in NYC.

We were given full copies of the game and are willing to answer questions.

The only thing I'm going to tell you guys right now:

NO QUESTIONS ABOUT RATINGS. We already post them in the NBA 2K10 screenshots section.

Yo MO or Pared, how about some bulls pics? Can you post some DRose and Tyrus Thomas Pics, want to make sure they have all their tattoos this year. I remember last year Tyrus barely had any.

I was just wondering about the accessories, along with a few other people, if you set the accessory to 1st Team Color does it always match the dominate color of the jersey? and if you put it on 2nd Team Color does it go with the 2nd color that is on the jersey always? and of course, do the headbands match the jersey?

Pared, did they add the brand new OKC Thunder scoreboard in the Ford Center? This year the Thunder are debuting what should be the best scoreboard in the league.

Can you trade more than 4 players from a team at a time? Are there more teams allowed per trade vice 3 in the past?

Wow, Create-A-Team looks awesome when compared to the other years. I wonder how many teams we are allowed to make this year. Hopefully more than the 8 or 9 we were allowed in 2k9!

Thanks for doing this Q&A guys. The stuff you've touched on up to now has me all kinds of excited for 2k10

I have a couple of questions/requests for you, if you don't mind:

1. Could you list all the different tendencies for the players? Supposedly the amount is up to 30+ now

2. How does the CAP in the 2k10 differ from the Draft Combine?
- Can we assign a secondary position
- Do you choose a Play Style for a created player, or is this only a part of the CAP for the D.C. and My Player?
- Can we change the Personality for our created players?
- Are the isomotion and shooting options different than in the D.C.? Or is it all still Rookie Bigman 1-5 or Pro Guard 1-4 etc.?
- Does the game display the overall rating somewhere in the edit player/create player screen?
- When you create players, is the option to create another player at the top or the bottom of the list?

3. How does the Create a Rookie Class feature work? Does the game just create 60-70 random players which you can then edit or do you create them one by one? Would any of you be kind enough to post a picture from this feature?

4. Can we change coaches for the different teams outside of Association?

5. Can we manage the draft picks for the coming years outside of the Association?
- On a side note: do all teams start up with having their own 1st and 2nd round picks like in previous years, or has the developers actually redistributed the picks so that it's closer to how it actually is?
- Also how far into the future can we trade picks in Association mode? Is it only 2 years or have they bumped it up to 3?

6. If you turn on the ability to control all 30 teams, can you turn on or off certain aspects of the feature? For instance I want to veto stupid trades that the CPU may be pulling off, but I don't want to have to initiate trades, but leave that up to the computer. Is this possible at all?

7. How are the stats in Association? Do they seem closer to what they are IRL?

8. Is there an actual All Star Weekend in Association or is it still just ASW vs. ASE game?

9. Have there been made any changes to the Blacktop mode(s)?

BTW, it's Knicks Arena, not MSG.

im new on here just signed up but anyways i read about this a while back you can put your own music in the game thats what this is for kinda like ncaa football when u score the music play etc..

Did you play against the CPU? If yes, did you find that the CPU team utilize their superstar enough on offense? Like if they took over for their team and leading the team in shots taken or points...

Also, was there a realistic number of mid-range shots taken by the cpu this year around?

Do players ever take their mouthguards out, chew on them, etc???

Lebron's face looks a bit distorted because he has his guard in. Do you ever get to see the player model without the gaurd 'bulking' up his lower face? Curious...

I actually think Melo doesnt look that bad. Not great but not horrible.

Yeah, I know you remember my face when he said that. There are some players that are a "miss" when it comes to player faces. It's the new tech that they seem to be using this year. Still no excuse, however. I really do think Melo looks terrible, even if he is "better" than last year. There are times when you can capture a player and they look awkward because they are making the facial animations. Like Durant... I'll have to look more closely, but at first glance, to me, that doesn't look like him.

The minor colors that are off annoy me because they can be fixed so easily. San Antonio's court looks beautiful with a Piano black, but the numbers on their jerseys look faded black. Little things like that need more attention.

Guys, I'll be pretty busy today and away from the console. When I can come back and answer questions, believe I'll try my best. It just may be difficult to get to a days worth of questions waiting for me.

Hopefully MC will be back to hook you guys up soon enough.

Oh, and the Knicks question about the organ... There is definitely an organ there, but like Live, once again, it is not the correct ditty.

I know the Knicks are bad, but c'mon people. Oh, and Nate's behind the back I believe was NOT there last year. If it was, my mistake.

It was funny watching Nate pick the Knicks then continue to try and "take over" with himself and fail. He put himself in the starting lineup over Duhon.

This is to Pared or any of you other guys that have the game,does the cpu mixed up their offensive attack,do guys that are known for creating shots for their self off the dribble do so?,do the cpu run pick and roll,hows the cpu shot selection? And one more question is the cpu able to recognize that they have a mitch match

Just top five or so in each category will be sufficient. Team PPG would be good too.
