Hey guys -

We're back in full force now after our wind-down, and we've been working on a "FAQ" blog to put out. Posting on forums and answering questions directly on Twitter just hasn't been widespread enough (since we keep getting the same questions asked), so this seemed like the best logical idea.

I've definitely been trying to read everything from the community, but I figured I'd open it up to make sure we gather all the most important questions in one place. We'll close this up by the weekend and try to have the blog out next week.

ONE REQUEST: NO DISCUSSION - JUST QUESTIONS.

To get the big one out of the way:

"When is the first title update coming out, and what is in it?"

The first patch is done on our end and in the hands of 3rd party for approvals, so I *think* we'll be able to release all the details about what's in the 1st title update in the official FAQ blog.

So...fire away!

I can't seem to get an answer to this question..... Will Player Contracts and Salary Cap be added for "Almost Online Franchise" this year or do we have to wait for 2011? Simple question right?

Some great questions in here, especially pointing out Illustrator and BB.

Each question is important.

I know these have probably been asked, but here are mine.

Will team chants be included or more pronounced?

Will the out of bounds issues be fixed. ie more dragging feet in bounds.

Will the QB duck throws be reduced to produce more QB sacks?

Will franchise stats be fixed? ie, 3-4 lb's produces higher QB sacks and more rushing TD's by RB's when simmed.

What level is considered to be the level that produces the best stats? All-Pro, Pro or Rookie?

Will penalty sliders be fixed. ie, more Defensive Interferences called. Holding, FM and Clipping are the major three that are called.

Will over the shoulder catches be reduced?

Better WR/DB interaction. It seems like the CB reads the WR and runs the WR route.

Better OL/DL interaction. I've seen some great line play and some questionable line play. OL breaks huddle and does the neurotic dance one in a while. Also, sometimes the OL doesn't pick anyone up to block and just sits there.

How about reducing the blitzing CB's by the CPU?

Hi Ian

I've been playing offline co-op for many years, it's how I enjoy Madden every year. Now I'm really enjoying Madden 10 but there is one gameplay issue which I'd really appreciate a patch for;

When playing with Standard Camera, every now and again the camera shifts aggressively to one side. It normally happens on toss plays, WR screens, wide throws etc, and because the camera shifts so aggressively to one side it kills the play and makes it very hard to beat a defender or navigate your player through the holes (because you can't really see what's happening due to the camera shifting). Basically it disorientates the player you're controlling as the sudden screen shift isn't smooth. This only happens in offline co-op but I only play Maddens that way so it means a lot to me and my Madden teammates.

For the first time ever Madden Classic Camera has been removed. Whilst I don't mind the Standard Cam for the main part, I really don't like the rotating camera mid-play (i.e. after the snap during the QB drop back/during a HB draw etc) or the slightly low camera angle which makes it harder to get accurate perspective when you're controlling a safety who's being dragged deep by a WR on a deep pattern.


MY REQUEST
Ideally, I would love to have Madden Classic Camera back, but if that's not possible then a patch for the Standard Camera would be great.

Ian,

What is you, or your team's, ultimate vision of offline/online franchise mode?

Do you plan on releasing any data that would support the adding of depth to superstar mode? On the flip, if it is not popular, would it be scrapped to add more depth to franchise mode?

P.S. I'm extremely excited with the progess that's been shown with the game this year, its not perfect but if you improve as much as you did over 09, this franchise is in good hands.

I'm pretty sure he is not even signed on anymore. You really think he is going to go back and read over 30 pages if not more of this thread?? Trust me he has is question for his Q&A blog

Will you be able to correct the lack of cut scenes and replays in cpu vs. cpu mode ? It seems the replays are cut off or missing ,as are the cut scenes.

Thanks Ian and Dev crew for your work on turning around the Madden Franchise! It is not 100% where we all would like to see it but you have come a longggg way in 1 year. Here is my basic question...

Will I need to use these league rules I made up because of issues on the Online Franchise once we get the 2nd patch???

ame Seekers OF is an online franchise planning on having multiple season. This is a SIM league and Sportsmanship is the top priority! The rules here are mostly because of the many things wrong with Online Franchises. If you find an issue that can be exploited than let us know ASAP! Here are the things you need to know....

Difficulty - All Pro
Trades - All Trading is on with guidelines for all trades.
Quarters - 6 Minutes with no Accelerated Clock.
Injuries - On

Things you should know about Online Franchises in Madden 10:

1. Commissioners do not have the same kind of tools that 2K league offered.
2. We can not assign wins or losses at all and if you get a loss when I SIM the week I am sorry but I have no control over this. If there is a player who is ALWAYS late to play there games than I will drop them and try and find a replacement ASAP so you can at least play the CPU.
3. Free Agency Logic does not work correctly in the Online Franchises. This means that you can drop any player you want from your team and sign the top Free Agent players without bargaining to get there services. This is why there is rules set in place to counter this.
4. Trade logic with the CPU is also broken. You can trade a 50 rated player to the CPU for a 99 rated player and they would accept it. This is why there is rules set in place to counter this problem.
5. We can not change stats of any kind at all.


Rules:

1. You can not restart a game VS the CPU at all. If you lose than you lose and you move on to the next week. There is no do overs in the Real NFL and there won't be any here either. Restarting shows up to everyone in the league so please do not try and do this because we will all see that you did do it.

2. Restarting can also change who makes the playoffs and who doesn't and since my league offer a prize of 3,200 microsoft points to the winners than it would be unfair for people to continue to restart there games until they win. By doing this they could win there division and get in the playoffs even when they should have had 1st pick in the draft


Disconnections:

This happens in Online Video Gaming more than we would like but there needs to be a rule in place for league matters on this issue.

1. If there is a disconnection than you must press pause and ask your opponent what he feels is fair.

A. Your winning big time he should concede defeat and you should be able to play the CPU.

B. If the game is in the early stages or the score is close than I want the player that has the option of continuing to select quit. The game will have to be replayed. If this happens you will need to notify me through your team thread and through the 360 that a disconnect happened and the restart will be excused.


Team Schedule:

1. You will be required to play at least 2 games a week. The Deadline to have games played will be Sunday and Wednesday by 5pm pst. If for any reason you can not get your game in than let me know ASAP so I can hold off on advancing the week.

Trading:

1. You will get 3 Trade Transactions a season. This means you can put as many as 6 players total in one single transaction and you get 3 of those. If you would like it to be 1 player for 1 player that is fine but it still counts as 1 Transaction.

2. Trades will be overseen by a trade committee that is all about making sure that all trades are fair and will not be lopsided. The trade committee will mostly look at CPU trading since the CPU will accept any trades.

3. Human VS Human trades must meet the following guidelines...

1 player for 1 player must be within 5 points of the players ratings in the trade.
2 players for 2 players must be within 8 points of the players ratings in the trade.
3 players for 3 players must be within 10 points of the players rating in the trade.

I am not sure yet if you can trade draft picks in the offseason but if you can here is there values for trade...

1st RD pick = 85 rating
2nd RD pick = 75 rating
3rd RD pick = 65 Rating
4th RD - 7th RD pick = 55 Rating

4. Trade Committee:

Here are the people you want to befriend as they will be in charge of the Trade Committee...

NFLHITMAN

DTRAIN53

If 1 of them have a trade offered than they can not approve any trade they are involved in. You will need 2 members of this committee to approve your trade with the CPU.

The Trade Committee also reserves the right to Veto and Human VS Human trades if it looks like Sweet Heart Deals are being passed around or any deals that look suspicious.

If you are not part of the Trade Committee and you see a trade that looks suspicious than let us know even if it is our own. We will look in to it and report the reasons why we think the trade is a legit trade.


Free Agency:

1. There will be a 3 round draft taking place for all teams to select from the Free Agent pool. Once you are On The Clock ( OTC ) than you must make your selection or be skipped. Once you make your selection than you must release a player from the same position.

2. Once the draft is done than you can use the Free Agent pool at any time for any reason. There really is no reason to monitor this once the draft is done since the players left are not impact players.

3. Rule #1 does not apply to Fantasy Draft Leagues since by the time the draft is done the people left are no where near great. In a Fantasy Draft league you can use it anytime you need to.


League Champion:

1. You will get a Virtual trophy on this site dedicated to you along with 3,200 Microsoft points from me that you can use any way you see fit on the XBOX Live Market Place!

1) How are you just so awesome?
2) How could you make the greatest game ever?
3) Do you know you give me life meaning and purpose?
4) Since the game is like 99.9999% perfect, can you just fix the teeny tiny issues?

A) in game stadium sounds
B) bad AI
C) Horrible CPU playcalling? I mean, I know that the Vikings run the ball 78% of the time and you guys put it in the game, but what was the game where a team punted from the 26 instead of trying a 43 yard field goal?
D) Sim stats that make absolutely no sense?
E) Stats in general?

Thanks man, I know you can squeeze out the extra .0001 to get this game 100% perfect.

good plug for your league hitman..good luck with that. My one question to Ian and crew: Will the ability to return interceptions for TD's be tuned. I know last yr it was rather difficult for it to happen but this yr it is entirely to easy. if a nice medium can be found that would be great.

can you guys please fix an issue were if you edit a player (ex. change position or number) the commentattors dont say there first an last name anymore they just say there last name like genericly

for instance if i edit lets say aaron rodgers idk i give him wristband or something then collinsworth will never say aaron rodgers again he will just say rodgers and he wont say his little story about him taking over for a lengend an blah blah and how hes smart an gutsy

so if i edit any player at all they no longer talk about them and it takes away from the authenticity of the players so now i cant even change anyones position in franchise cuz ill lose that please fix thanks

Why are the wrong QB cutscenes triggering after a score? - We were told that you guys knew of this issue and that it wouldn't be in the final build.

Two questions I have that I do not believe have been addressed here are

1. What is wrong with the pass rush that causes it to be easier to get sacks with the strong side DE than with the weak side DE which should be getting all the sacks? Something is broken in the logic there. To test this, play with the Falcons who have a 94 rated weak side pass rushing DE who destroys OTs in real life for a whole game against a bad O-line and see how many sacks you get and then play with the scrub who should be selling beer in the stands 70 rated no talent strong side DE against the same O-line and see how many more sacks you can get even though you have to beat the TE or HB in addition to the RT on most plays. Something is messed up either in the pass protection logic or the pass rush logic. It should be easier to get sacks with the weak side DE.

2. Is there a way to fix imported draft classes from NCAA 10 to make their ratings translate some what logically? If a guy is 97 in speed in NCAA and is imported into Madden, his speed should never take a 10 point drop. If a guy has a 98 twp in NCAA and is imported to Madden he shouldn't have a 10-15 point drop in throw power. I thought I read before this game came out that this issue was being fixed.

all of my other questions have been asked, so i'll ask this:
Will field degradation be improved so that it is not uniform, but degrade where action takes place not just because. the field degrades in places where nothing takes place. i know it's minor.
