No need for that here. Many of us here understand that EA football and 2k football are very different games each having their positives and negatives. I am happy that EA decided to focus on a lot of its gameplay related negatives this year.

I really Like the Demo probably as much as any Demo of a sports game I've played and I'm really picky (2K fanboy I must admit). I'm glad I preordered and this demo has kept me excited about the actual release. I'd say it hasn't made me more excited (already pretty high from all I've read and seen) but more importantly it didn't lower my excitment!!

Positives:

**Graphics, definitely improved. Will look even better when I get to play in zoom camera mode. Can't put my finger on it but they have more depth this year (3D like)
**No more stuttering between action and play calling (use to drive me crazy)
**Presentation. Its already above average for the first time in Next Gen Madden but I have a feeling it will be much better in the final game too! BUT I didn't see any stat overlays showing stats and tendencies which I really hope to see alot of, but I started thinking that these are usually shown along with pbp commentary so maybe all of this was left out in the demo to keep download size small. (1 gb btw) I'm preying I'm right or I will be let down.
Also although there are no broadcast replays i'm confident they will be in the final release, but none in the demo.
**I like the slowed down gameplay
**Protak seems about right, I was worried it would be over done
**I like how the camera zooms into the action after the whistle blows, immerses you into the game.
**Fatigue seems to be perfect, I was running the same play over and over and I went Through all my RB's and had to put in a FB. Awesome job!!!
**Injuries are handled the best I've seen!!! Nice cut-scenes and later info bar at bottom tells you about the injury. The similar to NCAA 09 you have the option to play them now and gives you the risk factor of reinjury!!
**Squib kicks on kickoffs are in the game. They can be tricky to field too!
**No more Icons above the players that you control such as RT sprint, or Hit Stick etc. Hit stick is still in though and I love it!
**Fighting for the fumble is a nice touch, though I wish that the letter you needed to push would show transparently on top of the pile so that I could watch the action taking place instead of focusing elsewhere. (did that make sense) After it's over, I thought I didnt' even see what happened because I was reading and not watching the play.
**AI seemed decent. I have both demos. Just witnessed the Giants going for it on 4th down on the Cowboys 38 yard line. Game was tied 0-0 at the time and that's the correct call. But I remember past maddens punting it into the endzone?

Negatives:

**Also as far as cut-scenes, I'd like to also be able to skip the chain gang by pressing "A", as is now have to wait for them. It's cool and all but I'm worried we will grow tired quickly if not allowed to skip it (that could easily be patched if it's not fixed in the final game). Same goes for the referee huddle on a possible TD, I'd like to skip by pressing "A" if I don't want to watch it.
**Players on sidelines still don't interact with the players on plays that go out of bounds ala 2K8.
**What's with the replays only recording like the last 5 secs of the play? I read it's a 30fps vs. 60fps thing but didn't understand what they were referring to. Will this be an option we can change? I really want to see the entire play even if it's a lower framerate.
**There wasn't any stat overlays that I've seen, hope this changes in the actual release.
**They took away the attribute icons under the player (which some will say is a positive) but I wish it was an option to turn on or off, I actually like it when playing people online so I can see star players from afar.
**That red ball finder icon is kind of annoying but may be a necessary evil.
**The few overlays that are in the game block out the action, like walking to the tunnel etc. Either get the timing better so it won't block the cut-scenes or action OR make the transparent so you can see through them.

I mostly play online so I'll have to wait and see about how the presentation is implemented in the online games. Will there be stat overlays, replays that are implemented like Fifa 09 where both people would have to skip in order to skip replays and halftime shows. I hope that they keep in the booth replays on big plays in online games even if they don't allow manual replays.

I'd like to personally thank Ian for caring as much as we (the OS FB diehards) do, he reads the forums and actually has responded personally to me a couple of times. What more can we ask for. He actually gets it and if he is left in charge we can only imagine where Madden will be in a year or two.

I'm glad it's there because it's realistic and I'm happy that it's going to be default online. It's going to be a BLAST owning cheesers because they're not going to be able to do jack crap with the game speed like it is and the mandatory QB drop.
I could care less about cheesers because I don't play online but this game in my opinion is slow and I'm as sim as they come. Glad you can adjust gameplay speed because this is not representative of pro football in my humble opinion. Go to a training camp where you can get down at field level and see how fast and physical these guys are when they go live. It's friggin' fast. I'm not saying the virtual players need to be moving like fire ants or anything but boosting up the speed a notch would be perfecto!

When the players run faster when they break the huddle than they do on the field I would call that slow.

Got a question. I first downloaded the Giants vs Cowboys demo and then downloaded the GS demo. Where can I find the GS demo to play it? Everytime I click on the Madden 10 demo it just plays the Giants vs Cowboys one..

What I really think is the person who made it put it on two player and on the easiest setting and called the defense to play a certain way just so they could put that garbage on you tube to stir up some stuff. That will never happen in a real Madden game on a consistent basis

Is the tap Y/hold Y spectacular catch/possession catch still a part of Madden. I played so little the last couple of years that I was wondering if that's still in?

Anyone else having major stability issues with the GameStop demo? It's frozen on me every time i've played... I made it into the 2nd qtr once..

As for impressions, plays slightly better then NCAA, but that is to be expected as it always has.

IMPOSSIBLE to see the ball in flight, no wonder they added the huge red circle. Visual upgrades are nice, but there is no need for the constant flash bulbs. It just seems kind of washed out and dark, to hard to tell what is going on.

Also, WAY to many cut scenes, I've had times where the second a players knee hits the ground it switches to a field level view. Very very annoying.

Ea has had a habit of leaving an unfinished product as a final build with some of their games. I mean when people are crying for a patch on day 1. You cant use that logic when talking about a demo when you've seen what finished products have looked like. I will say from what ive seen so far all looks pretty good. I cant wait to see what the final build is like and pray there are no game breaking bugs.

Awesome Demo. The game speed is perfect. Wow, I really didn't think I would be this impressed.

Anyone saying that M10=M09, go play the M09 demo again.

This game is going to be fantastic....

Ian and Co.... WELL DONE!

Has anyone seen the cpu attempt a coffin corner punt yet? Everytime they've punted its been right down the middle of the field and results in a touchback 99% of time. The only time it doesn't is if they get a lucky bounce.

I'm very impressed with the gameplay after two games.
It feels empty without announcers and such, but obviously that's just the demo.

Back on the topic of gameplay, I feel like EA finally achieved that sense of realism.
The play is noticably slower, but I like it because it gives me a chance to actually see
the play developing and read my blocks to find a hole to squeeze through. One thing I'm
very happy about is that when I find that hole, I can actually get through it, rather than
have some 320 pound guy fly off his block and tackle me for a loss of 2 yards.

Every tackle animation I've seen so far has been smooth and made sense in the play.
Although I haven't seen too much, I like what I've seen from the Pro-Tak. I feel as if
I really control whether I convert on a 3rd and 2 or not.

In the passing game, I love being able to stay in the pocket for more than 2 seconds.
As an offensive lineman myself, it's nice to see the big guys actually taking care
of business like they would on Sunday. On the other side of the ball, it is much more difficult
to get to the quarterback, but that's how it should be. I'm still learning the pass rush moves,
so it should get a little easier over time. When pressure does get to the quarterback,
the throws get less and less accurate based on how close the defender is.
Again, I'm happy with this facet of the game.

Another thing I'm happy about on defense is that I feel it's possible to actually manually control
a defensive back for an entire play. In the past, I would need to stick with D-Linemen, and maybe
control a linebacker every once in a while. I don't know if the camera is slightly different, but
somehow I feel much more comfortable controlling any of my 11 guys.

Now, onto the things I'm not as happy with.

I'm having a little trouble making all the pre-snap adjustments so far on defense, but once there
is a list of controls I'm sure that will become easier.

A more important issue I have is how the game cuts to an animation immediately after the play is over.
The problem is, the play doesn't seem as if it's actually over. Although I'm sure that the result of the play
is determined before the cutscene begins (or so I would hope) I wish the view would stay with the normal
game camera about one second longer, just so I could feel more secure about the end of the play.

Now for my biggest gripe, something that can dramatically alter the outcome of a game.
I've only experienced it once so far, but I have a problem with recovering fumbles. EA was
excited about the fact that you could fight for a fumble at the bottom of the pile. I was excited
about this too because I'm tired of watching 5 guys reach down and whiff on picking the ball up.
However, the system for fighting for the ball is absolutely ridiculous. It consists of repeatedly
tapping different buttons to determine who gets the ball. It feels like a mini-arcade game in the
middle of a game-changing play. Normally I would like to see something more than once before
a final judgement, but I have to put my foot down on this awful feature.

I don't want to end on a bad note, however. Like I said, I was very impressed with the overall
gameplay of the demo. I can't wait for a chance to get going with Matt Forte, especially now
that I'll actually be able to react to the blocks of Orlando Pace and Olin Kreutz.

If you agree, disagree, or want to expand on anything I covered, go for it.
I'm interested to see if the general public feels the same way I do.

Also, the running animations look like people running!

We gotta realize one thing guys...it's a demo. So we should be happy about what we see now in the demo and remember that this ain't the final build and tweaks can still be made. I got faith in them, no games perfect but I put down NCAA for a demo

To anyone having problems with canceled downloads and such just go to your profile management (this fix is 360 only) and choose "download history" then the madden 10 eclusive demo should be on the list. Choose "download again" and viola, your demo will finish its download.

Another trick for those of you with memory cards, is to bring your profile to a friends house and use the download history trick to get the demo for anyone with an xbox and an internet connection through your profile. I used this on my friends xbox and now he has both demos and can play either without my profile being present. Fairly useful get-around that I thought I'd share. Hope it helps = )

Yep, the Giants(CPU) just did one as we speak.

For the person wondering about how to send a guy in motion...you press the circle button on the PS3 to change to different offensive players and then use the L-Stick to send them in motion.

When you kick field goal it still cuts to that terrible angle where you cannot see anything.

thanks man. I've seen the cpu punt like 4 times thus far where a coffin corner punt would be ideal but they punted down the middle of the field. Good to know that it does happen.
