Just witnessed an awesome play...I scrambled Big Ben out of the pocket to run away from the pressure and chucked it in the endzone on the run...turns out ol' reliable Hines Ward came up with the ball for the TD...

BUT...the Cards decide to throw the challenge flag, the refs convene, and it's overturned...apparently the ball hit the ground. After further inspection, I'm not so sure

Okay, after making the sacrifice to go and get the 5min demo, I will say that EA has done a decent job. There are some things I'm concerned with, but I'll wait and see how the real game is before I start ranting. I love the atmosphere that's for damn sure.

After playing one game of the demo (PS3), I can honestly say I haven't been this excited about a football title since 2004. Finally, I feel as though this team is taking Madden in the right direction.

What I liked:

- Animations are stellar, and the new "pro-tak" system is very engaging.
- The new cut-scenes involving fans and such, although limited in the demo, are a great addition and inch Madden closer to the greatness that is NFL 2K5.
- Gameplay is smooth and players feel like they have weight to them.
- There are a plethora of small details that are starting to get added into the game, and they really shine during the presentation.
- Very likely the best football I've played since 2K5, and this is just the demo. It at least has me that excited.

What I disliked:

- The walking animation in particular is a little stiff; players look like they have sticks up their butts.
- Gameplay feels just a touch on the slow side, not sure if this is a demo thing or if it will be adjustable come the final release.
- Some of the cutscenes were repeated constantly, and that's just in a 20-minute game. Hopefully this is a demo limitation.
- Lack in the presentation department still existed, particularly on intros and at the conclusion of the game (what is supposed to be the Super Bowl). Hopefully this is, again, a demo limitation.
- The camera sometimes cuts away from a play too quickly, especially field goals/xtra points.
- Each time the players line up, the camera is nearly always focused on the QB. There are other players on the field, and other things to take in.
- Challenged plays don't provide much of anything. The ref simply appears and says whether the play was upheld or overturned. There are no replays to speak of or any other presentation aspects. Not sure if this is final or a demo limitation.

As a side note, I have to say I enjoy the new cutscenes, the most notable was Willie Parker riding the bike on the sidelines. I cracked up when I saw that ish.

Anyway, I'm very hyped about the final release, moreso than before I played this. Hopefully many of the dislikes are simply demo problems and don't exist in the final cut.

Wow. Yippee. Yay.

Not having a go at you mate, I just was looking forward to playing this tonight. I must have read the initial document wrong, I thought the release date was the same, just the length was different. Ps 1 minute quarters suck. We got 2 in NCAA, come on.

Normally I wouldn't play the demo, but because it's supposed to be so damn good, I wanted to play it before I bought it as I really can't afford to waste money on it.

However, the impressions seem good so

So far I've played 3 games in the demo. 2 as the Cards and 1 as the Steelers. All three times I used the All-Pro sliders, yet I noticed a very large difference in pass protection between game 1 and games 2 and 3.

In game 1, the pass protection was good. People got through and I got pressure, but I was able to get the pass off in a reasonable amount of time. In games 2 and 3 (one a piece as the Steelers and Cards), my O-lines decided to suck and suddenly I was getting pressure out the wazoo and getting sacked almost every other play. There was one drive where I had 6 plays, and 5 of them were sacks (the lone non-sack was a deep pass to Fitzgerald to convert 3rd and 21).

Overall I am very impressed by the demo, there was one kick return in particular where Moore (the Steelers KR) was met by Neil Rackers, and it started a tackle animation, but I was able to spin out of Rackers' tackle and keep running the ball back. I went back and watched it a few times on the instant replay.

One question for the Cowboys/Giants demo (since I'm on PS3 and we don't get it until next week) does it use the accelerated clock or not? I would hope not since they are only one minute quarters.

I hate to say it, but I think some people have got a blurred sense of how good 2K5 was. Now it was a great game for many reasons, but I don't think the football was 'great'.

There was no blocking, running the football was extremely difficult, the passing was good, but the defending wasn't.

Don't get me wrong it was good, and a better overall game than Madden 06, but on the field Madden took it for me.

I hate the leg movement when their running that makes it seem so slow and i hate the over the head catch for long balls....fitzgerald fade does not work...otherwise this is a good demo

What skill level is this? That part was skipped over.

You can still strafe with LT as a WR on Pro mode, meaning that you can still get to a spot and jump catch. You can't do that on All-Pro or All-Madden.

Will someone post a damn code, lol thankyou. If you dont want to post it, plz send me a message with it.

But what stands out the most is the speed of the game in the one minute demo

I find myself playing that one a lot more today

And the graphics even look cleaner in that one
Good to see since that is the demo I have been playing ALL day. Actually I lied did watch two episodes of Rescue Me.

Just played the 360 1 minute demo.

Wow. Why even bother releasing a demo with 1 minute quarters? You cannot get any feel for the game. You can't run the ball because if you do the half will end before you get four plays off. You feel rushed and I couldn't even enjoy the cut-scenes after plays because they would kill the game clock.

I would prefer a demo of just ONE, 5 minute quarter, than four, 1 minute ones.

From what I got to experience (which was basically a two-minute drill) I saw some things I liked, but seriously guys, one minute quarters is just annoying and a terrible way to show off the "much improved" gameplay.

well, I guess I wasn't the only one who finds this just unacceptable.

This simply must be fixed by Ian. There is no reason for it.

I've got to give props where props are due,and to Ian and the rest of the guys.....based on the demo alone, this has to be the biggest turnaround in Maddens history.
I will admit...I had my doubts,as alot of this stuff we've heard before, but you guys really seemed to deliver this year, and to that I say great job.

can anyone verify that they've downloaded this on PSN? I saw on page 99 that someone said they played their first game on PS3, but it seemed awfully quick to download at 9 and get a full game in...I'm nervous to try my code for fear that it will void it. i went through a lot of trouble to switch my 360 code with a PS3 code (damn red ring of death) so I want to be sure it's up and working before trying to download it...

No one has extra codes.

And if they did I doubt they would give it to someone who says, "post a damn code."
