"A rookie defensive back sealed the fate of the Ravens today, sending the Titans into the second round of the playoffs in Madden NFL 10.

The Tennessee Titans (9-7) took on the Baltimore Ravens (10-6) in the opening game of the AFC Wildcard game today in a crazy back and forth game filled with dazzling special teams and defensive play. QB Joe Flacco threw an interception as time wound down that rookie CB Ryan Mouton intercepted with less than 20 seconds to go in regulation to seal the Titans victory."

Man they're doing a great job. Don't care what anybody says.

The cutscenes are so cool I actually found myself laughing at 'em. Loved it when the Titans sealed the game and they showed some Ravens fans leaving the game.

where were the fumbles?
presentation, no replays after TDs! not many stat overlays
halftime girl was stale "Baltimore gained over 200 yards, the teams are tied"
as the guy is tackled it goes to a cut scene, so you cant break a tackle? what happens if he fumbles?
no day to night transition, that was the longest sunset ever in january
despite being cold, the fans all had short sleeves.
Absolutely unforgivable, when was the last time you saw a touchdown scored in real life and there was no replay of it.....er never (but you show a 5 yd run by LJ in the other vid but not his 80 yd run for a TD....hmm.

Wow, I watched the vids last night and posted that I didn't want to speak on more than what I did and that was basically because the game was in alpha stages. Yes, there were things I noticed that were off like lack of sleeves in an obviously very cold temp and no sundown to night transition but I figure that it was because it was still a work in progress.
Like Ian said, basically, don't get your panties in a bunch folks. Those who are actually offering constructive criticism instead of scathing negativity, that's understandable because the game is not finished and you wanna point out particulars that maybe Ian and co have not picked up on.

Again, great job, Ian, and I actually enjoyed the vids even more, after 9hrs of sleep - lol. Can't wait til Aug. 14th...or ,at least, the demo release.

The more I see, the more comfortable I feel in purchasing this year's game. EA has finally taken notes. Lots of improvement to presentation...joy! They just need to try and emulate 2k8's dynamic player-sideline interaction, distinct crowd and unique player animations to complete the presentation turn-a-around.

By the way, does M10 have custom stadium music?

# 465 Skyliner80 @ 06/13/09 06:24 PM
...by the way, that camera angle that 'chases' the ball carrier in a "roadie"- shaky way is out of place with the current presentation changes.

I know I noted that crowd needs improvement but in reality, all they need for a quick fix is to react at certain times, not in every single second of the game. They also need to tone down the excessive flashing bulbs on every down. Maybe adding more sprites (..see 2k8 crowd). Besides that, EA is headed in the right direction...

I enjoyed the vids. Thanks Ian. I can't wait for August.

# 467 steelernation28 @ 06/13/09 07:00 PM
One thing I noticed when the Raven were called for holding and specifically for false start the crowd did seem to react properly. And when the Raven's fans were leaving it would be cool to see some titans fans mixed in there

# 468 Skyliner80 @ 06/13/09 07:04 PM
Yeah, it's alpha build, so they should fix it before the final release.

I've always wondered why EA always had bland overlays. They should adopt something like what you see in TV Broadcasts. In my opinion NFL on NBC back in the early 90s had the best overlays/font.

I've played every Madden (except for the first one), and I have never been more excited for a Madden game. Ian and your team, thank you for finally realizing the game that all of us have been waiting to play since we first got our hand on Madden. P.S. Give Ian a break. I feel sorry for him having to put up with all this crap.

I think enough has been said about the pass rush so...ya... here are some other things I want to point out that have probably already been said before.

1) Still wish there was more momentum for defensive players
2) Run blocking logic still needs to be improved on
3) And why on the the last play does Flacco even try that throw?!?! It's 4th and 25!!!
4) Need to shorten stride and speed up running animation for ball carrier
5) Squibs!
6) Can't wait until August 14th!!

Madden 10's entire overlay style is actually a direct derivative of NBC Sunday Night Football.

Having said that, I don't think enough stats come up. Even after watching all 4 quarters of the Titans-Ravens, I just didn't see enough stat overlays.

So currently the definite issues with presentation on the field are:

*Lack of auto-replays... there needs to be a lot more.

*Lack of stat overlays... even after 4 quarters, there just weren't even nearly enough.

*The stat readings of the overlays need to be in the correct format. 09 suffered from the same problem as the stats read improperly.

QB Stats should NEVER only show a completion stat without also showing the attempt stat. I made a whole post on this in my Wishlist series guys! C'mooooonnnn

For QB's it's completions, attempts, yards, TD's, INT's (16/25, 210 yds, 2 TD's, 1 INT).

And for RB's it's carries, yards, TD's (26car, 134yds, 2 TD's)

WR's it's rec, yards, TD's (12rec, 195yds, 1TD)

... if there is a zero '0' for any of those stat categories, you don't post zero '0' on the banner. You just make sure the stat category doesn't show up on the banner at all when the stat is a zero '0'. It's not proper to show a stat at zero unless it's a stat based on an attempt. For example, it's proper to show a '0' stat for yards if there have been attempts (like 2car, 0yds) same with completions and QB ratings. Even a minus number can be shown (5car, -2yds)... but nothing else as far I can think of at the moment.

*I'm concerned about the challenge situation, as I've yet to see one even in situations where they would need to be (that goaline TD that had to be confered on by the refs). I'm starting to get worried that there may be no challenge function in the game or something (lol)... but that would be a disaster...

*Defenders being given a tight shot after knocking down a pass or making a near-INT. I've also seen big tackles for losses and sacks where the defender was not spotlighted, and there was also no auto-replay. This auto-replay issue is really a big deal.

*Cutscenes of team celebrations playing out for TD's, with no auto-replay. It should be:

TD-Autoreplay-Cutscene of team celebration.

If it's a one guy celebration it should be:

TD-one guy celebration-Auto-replay-Cutscene (if applicable, though a cutscene of some sort should really always show up here).

I wonder if anything can be done about how everyone's head is nodding down while they are standing up coming out of the huddle. It looks like they are emerging from a deep hypnosis-trance state.

I'd also like to see the QB, touch his helmet or point things out as he approaches the line.

# 473 Skyliner80 @ 06/13/09 09:02 PM
No, no. I typed NFL on NBC, early 90's . I should have said NFL Live. Madden does resember today's Sunday Night Football which I don't care too much for.

Do you buy madden to PLAY or to watch?

If your buying it for thw latter I suggest you realize the product your purchasing. Buy head coach if tour looking to simply Watch. Madden is based on game play..afte that is its primary purpose right?

Uhh no.

The game has improved a lot compared to madden 09.

I really wonder how many of you guys actually played madden 09 since to me (and many other) madden 09 to madden 10 is night and day.

Isn't there a slider for this?

Actually, we all buy for both since we can't play with our eyes closed... well, actually we could but that would be hard to do, and it would kinda defeat the premise of the video part of the word "videogame"...
