"A rookie defensive back sealed the fate of the Ravens today, sending the Titans into the second round of the playoffs in Madden NFL 10.

The Tennessee Titans (9-7) took on the Baltimore Ravens (10-6) in the opening game of the AFC Wildcard game today in a crazy back and forth game filled with dazzling special teams and defensive play. QB Joe Flacco threw an interception as time wound down that rookie CB Ryan Mouton intercepted with less than 20 seconds to go in regulation to seal the Titans victory."

Yes.

Madden 10 is starting to look like Madden's version of NCAA 09's wide open gameplay. Where is the adaptive AI for good defensive teams? If these two teams are unable to stop the weaker offenses in the game, what will the Patriots or the Cardnals do to them? Prepare for online shoot-outs if this is not fixed.

Why does Johnson go from 0-60 in .2 seconds? He needs to take longer to reach his top speed. No one can take two steps and be at top speed. I know that speed kills, but this is a bit extreme. I use to be fast, but even on a good day, it would take me more than a few steps to reach my top speed.

I looked at each vid, and I honestly can not see where Pro-Tak just stands out. Am I missing something? I think I seen three man tackles but not the 4,5,6,7,8, and 9 man tackles that they were raving about a few months ago. Please fix it.
Agreed. The game does seem to be on the scoring side. A 39 overall rated Ravens wide out beats the Titans secondary on a big play. The pick 6s, which seem to be in every video so far. I honestly don't want another football game where every score ends up being 35-21.

Big improvements, no question.. But this went from pre-order, to me waiting a week or two to see what issues OS members bring up. I might skip football games altogether this year, and switch to basketball. Madden 2011 should be the game I've been waiting for.

Same here. Usually a few days before release I'm drooling at the mouth. I can't sit still and I'm out there bribing K-Mart employees hoping they'll sell me the game early. Now, it's like eh I could care less. Knowing me I'll buy it just to see how much progress was made but I'm just not excited anymore for Madden. Things are being improved but I'm just tired of next year, next year, next year.

I feel ya on that bro.. Even though alot of things I've been pinning for are in Madden 10,some things (commentary with half time highlights, salary cap and FA in online franchise, better commentary team, etc) I'll still have to wait next year for and hope for.

not sure who said it but

whoever said the playoff logo is too big is wrong

I'm watching chargers/colts playoff game from 2008 on NFL network....the 'playoffs' banner DOES stretch 20 yards.

FYI

Players still move too jittery and they need to fix their running animations. Someone already mentioned the arm strides in traffic. Runners don't run that way. Everyone runs like they're in an open field even when there's defenders around. It just feels videogamey. When I play NHL 09 & MLB The Show, I don't get that feeling that I'm playing a videogame. I feel more suspension of disbelief because those games are more authentic.

Hope that makes sense.
That's pretty much the impression I get from watching the videos. I'm looking forward to this year's game because I have been following its development and Ian and his team really do seem to want to create an authentic experience. I'll reserve final judgment until I have the final game in my hands and actually play it, but from a strictly visual standpoint, it just has that "Madden" look to it. And unfortunately, I just don't find that look to be realistic in any way.

For some reason with Madden's animations I always get the feeling of motion-capture actors trying to mimic football movement and exaggerating everything. With a game like The Show or APF, I just see nuanced, realistic animations.

Would it be too much to to redo 100% of the animation for next year's game?

Anyway, like I said, I'll reserve final judgment until I play it. But I really don't like its "look".

Wow. I just got back from Vegas after 4 days and come home to watch this. I watched the last video 6 of 6, and am AMAZED. No way can anyone say that this game looks dissapointing. I truly was astonished when I saw that False Start occur on the final drive of the Ravens, it just looked real. Plain and simple.

Thanks so much Ian

It felt as if it were a playoff game.. more playoff atmosphere is needed i feel but im happy with whats in the game for this year... the last video really felt like the season was on the line for both teams....

I loved the feel of victory from the coach patting his teammates as the players came off the field after the end game interception in vid 6...this is what i been trying to stress in here for years..its the kind of thing that will make winning fun in madden and the overall feel of playing madden will no longer feel dead...thank god

Overall I think this game looks really good.

My only negative thought is the crowd noise - while the Tennesse crowd appeared to be making noise for the home team I still don't think it was entirely clear that the Titans were at home, which it should be.

More importantly the crwod never really go wild (audio) at the right moments - Once Chris Johnson broke free for those TD runs that should be the moment the crowd start going wild. As far as I can tell they wait till the ball is in the endzone, which feels unrealistic. And even then it sounds a bit muted. The noise level then really goes up for the XP attempt!

Am I the only one to notice this? It should be easy to fix should it not?

Watched the first two vids and will watch the last two later.

Postive:
The crowd, presentation and atmosphere may be worth buying the game for. I have to give props on that first and foremost because it is a night and day difference from any Madden this generation.

Negatives:
Still seems like "Madden" gameplay and not football.
-like stated, the animations kill the game. Until the engine is changed it will always be a negative, IMO.
-Running to the outside is just not realistic. It still seems like
"mario running" and I am still noticing defenders getting sucked in to blocks. Instead they should take angles to avoid the block or atleast engage.
Passing:
From what I saw, I didn't see any throw aways, why not? Why is the Madden mentality not to throw the ball away if someone is covered. You know why? Because the defense isn't punishing enough. Step up the defense please!
-On a curl route that was thrown, the OLB/DB jumped on it but the WR still caught the ball. There was also another bad thrown floater that was caught in double coverage. Seems like the same old game. Both should have been picked off
-The qb sneak at the goaline still seems to be money.

Great presentation but this game so far is seeming like the same old story, all show but no go. More than likely a rental for me.

Whats up with the running animations on break away plays its looks like the runner is in a jogging animation. It looks weird.

I would of liked to see more defense pressure towards the QB. Its like the offense have super offensive linemen.

The graphics and presentation are solid. I liked how they had the highlights after the game. I wish there was an option to play your own music for certain situations. If there is option like that this year then thats great.

Ok operation sports elite,

I have now watched the whole game and before I pick it apart negatively, will someone please reiterate the big difference in gameplay from 09. Again gameplay wise. Because I really have alot to say.

I mean I can give you features that they added to improve the game and I can also give you things that they did or are doing after that vid was made that they are currently improving until the game goes gold but I can't 100% personally tell you how the gameplay is since I haven't played it.

No I just want someone to give me the positives you have seen from that set of videos. And not only the positives but the differences in gameplay from 09.

*Moves at a more realistic pace compared to past maddens
*Bad passes when the QB throws while being hit
*Better clock management
*Bad/overthrown passes
*Over shoulder catches
*Improved QB sneak (QB just drops instead of previous years where the QB runs)
*Pro-Tak (more than 3 men gang tackles/ pile steering)

That's what I seen in the vid that are improvements. The main things I thought that needed to be worked on was the running animation and the pass rush. Ian improved the pass rush since that vid was made and he is also currently working on the run styles.

lol..yeah your good at doing that

ANyways..this is a game of football, how much does a game of football change year to year? The important thing that im concerned is gameplay tweaking and presentation..both have been attended pretty well it seems.

I could go play by beloved NBA2k7, NBA2k8 and 2k9 and guess what... rock'n game of bball in which hasnt changed a great deal from the years i listed but madden09 to 10 has...but you know, there are always complainers around here in the madden forums that sound like they are on the rag or something...

Small thought if any developer reads this, but in the postgame highlight reel, I think it would be cool it player stats were shown for that game in addition to the score. Minor thing, but I think most of us football fiends are stat junkies...I know after every game I always look at the player stats for both my team and the CPU team anyways, so it'd be cool even to have a few offensive and defensive players on that postgame screen while the replays are going.
