NCAA Football 10 News Post

Hey guys... so we are aware of the issue with no (or few) freshmen on some teams in TeamBuilder and yes the same issues are found on the NCAA 10 disc. Over the past few days, one of our top priorities has been investigating solutions.

The TeamBuilder teams require some data on the disc to set Depth Charts for every team created before they can be used in a game. For example if you use the Cupcake roster as a starting point, NCAA 10 will give you a default Depth Chart for the Cupcakes for your TeamBuilder team (which you can edit in game). This means any changes we make could cause some problems with teams already created using TeamBuilder. So we need to ensure we are taking to proper steps to correct the issues.

We understand the concerns with how this can affect Dynasty mode and Online Games, so we are working hard to have a solution in place before launch on July 14th.

whatever EA does, lets hope they don't rush it out the door just to try and please the loudest of the displeased.

i would hope they would take the time to find the best solution, test it thoroughly and then present it to the community after they are positive the fix functions within the framework of the rest of the games features. Online Dynasty/Teambuilder/Season showdown and online ranked games.

I've seen these things snowball into bigger issues when fixes pushed through for the sake of pleasing an angry community.

Got any hard evidence to back this claim up? I highly doubt it's 50%

There's an option right there. Better game play, presentation, and atmosphere - plus, it's cheaper than the current gen version.
So you are asking me to compromise all that next-gen brings to the table simply to get a good sim? That is not an option, and for you to suggest so takes away from your credibility IMO.

Why don't we all play techmo bowl and never buy another game again?

I love college football just as much as the next guy, and have bought this game for the past decade. This tradition stops this year. I refuse to pay money on a shoddy product just because it is the only game out there. I believe the only way to show my unapproval would be to keep my 60.00 in my pocket. It will be hard to walk by the case in the store with the game inside to just keep walking, but I will. And I have addressed these concerns with friends of mine who used to love this game the same way I do. Enough is enough.

Has there been an official update on the status of the roster fix? Couldn't EA just get a gamertag and upload the correct roster in it's roster vault? I agree that it stinks, but I am wondering why it is so bad, is it because the ranked matches will use faulty rosters? I thought most people play this on online dynasty anyway, so why doesn't EA just release the roster in an official gamertag the day it comes out? By the way who is their "roster guy?"

I don't know who the "Roster Guy" is but he should be fired. IMMEDIATELY!

Someone should let Khalide Amarghabo from Madagascar know a few things. I am a Michigan fan, but some of the ratings are just blown out of proportion for our freshmen. Okay the big DT I get that, but the second string DE at what 225lbs is no 84 or 83 to start off with. I feel terrible for Notre Dame fan, their safeties cover receivers as well as a tarp covers an elephant in a hurricane.

Does anyone have any updated news?

Russell_Kiniry_EA: Yes. We had some people here over the weekend trying to get things done as fast as possible, still a few hurdles to get over but things are progressing in the right direction at least.

I'm a little behind the times with this whole issue and TB, I didn't play 09 at all but played the crap out of 05-08. I'm an offline dynasty player through and through and never even had time to try the Campus Legend mode, so I seriously doubt I will even use TB. But I'm guessing this roster issue affects the entire game and not just TB users.

If that means I have to wait a little longer to get the rosters from the community or FDK I guess I can do that. My biggest worry though is what if they never come or they're somehow still affected by this roster issue.

i wouldnt feel too bad for notre dame, south carolina has only 4 defenders rated over 80 despite being ranked 13th in the nation in total D last year. thats partially due to all the players having their default ncaa 2009 ratings, i dont know if thats the case for michigan state on the teambuilder site.

Jeremy Strauser just tweeted (StrauserTrout) that a roster fix is in the works along with a patch to disallow DLC advantages for online dynasty.

It is tough, very tough. I did it with NCAA 09 (didn't buy it) and it was hard the first month or so. But let me tell you, it gets easier everytime you pass by without buying. As time goes by you see other games that take your interest as well.

Then there are the in-store promotions and the price cuts. That tempts you too, but just keep walking. It's tough to vote with your wallet on a series that you've played for 10+ years. But, sometimes things have to be done and examples have to be made.

P.S. - I know that sounds a little dramatic like a tale of loss and love, LOL, but it was for effect.

Hey Now! If the roster fix gets in, I'll def. be giving this game a rental to see if it's worth buying! I hope they come through.

Just goes to show that community feedback DOES make a difference. You think they would even be considering disallowing DLC in online dynasty if it wasn't for the HUGE backlash from the online community? No sir.

They were ranked that high in D last year largely because the play of their Seniors and a few Juniors. Most of those guys are gone now. Being anchored this year by Eric Norwood is a good start, but they have some holes to fill. I would be surprised if they're that high again this year.

Isn't it too late for them to update the game disc? Won't the roster update then be in a downloadable patch which will be released probably a week after the game is released (at the earliest)?

Eitherway, it could be 2 weeks after launch before we have great named rosters.

Maybe, maybe not. The fact that this was caught a month in advance makes me think that it's not out of the realm of possibility that they could have a patch ready to go on launch date.

Glad to hear that there's going to be an option to disallow the dynasty accelerators in online dynasty.

I'm interested to hear what the final fix ends up being for rosters. I'm sure they'll let us know once substantial progress has been made and there's light at the end of that tunnel.

Hopefully they are close and they can submit it to Microsoft/Sony by next week, then it should be out by the 14th

So I've been browsing through this thread for the first time today and from what I've gathered is that there is an issue with the rosters of all teams containing few, if any freshmen, however there might be a fix in place before the game is released? Nice.

So why is it that I can work a full-time job, spend time with my wife and son, take graduate classes, and still research video game rosters enough to edit and have them pretty accurate within a few month's time, while someone that actually works for EASports, and the job he's paid for is to get rosters accurate for the game, yet he can't get them right? This doesn't make sense.
