NCAA Football 10 News Post

Hey guys... so we are aware of the issue with no (or few) freshmen on some teams in TeamBuilder and yes the same issues are found on the NCAA 10 disc. Over the past few days, one of our top priorities has been investigating solutions.

The TeamBuilder teams require some data on the disc to set Depth Charts for every team created before they can be used in a game. For example if you use the Cupcake roster as a starting point, NCAA 10 will give you a default Depth Chart for the Cupcakes for your TeamBuilder team (which you can edit in game). This means any changes we make could cause some problems with teams already created using TeamBuilder. So we need to ensure we are taking to proper steps to correct the issues.

We understand the concerns with how this can affect Dynasty mode and Online Games, so we are working hard to have a solution in place before launch on July 14th.

Why are people blaming teambuilder??? If anything this caught the problem a month in advance...

Doubtful. Are you going to tell me everyone at EA was unbeknown to the issue before it was discovered on teambuilder?

yeah, UVA' roster is ALL jacked up...no Sewell at QB, Vic Hall still at CB. Those are two of the major issues. I really hope they fix this...

Maybe, I think there are two possibilities.

Option A: Honest mistake by someone on the dev team with the roster file chosen for the final build, accidentally grabbed a roster file from the early stages of redoing the rosters for 2010. Hopefully it is a fix, and we will see

Option B: Lawsuit froze roster editing process. To anyone that thinks that this is impossible really needs to think about it hard. EA get's hit with a lawsuit, the most likely thing the very expensive lawyers tell EA is freeze anything and everything you are doing with your rosters at this point until we know what to do.

I personally don't blame teambuilder, I think it's a good new addition to the game, especially with the website... and it definitely helped the community catch a problem before we all had the game in hand. The dev team has acknowledged the problem and are trying to fix it, we can only hope it gets fixed, something this major never happens again, and that they build off this game for next years with more additions the community wants.

The possibilities that you have suggested are too logical.

For the powers that be: If the rosters are being re-created from scratch or even updated before patching/release, etc., Vandy has released a 2009 Roster (oddly devoid of freshmen, so maybe EA wasn't too far off ) with number and position changes.

http://vucommodores.cstv.com/sports/...ootbl-mtt.html

Seeing as how there's no official channel for this (and one could assume that the "roster guy" should be on this, and every other team), I'll just leave it here.

It's not odd at all to not list freshman or at least have them numbers assigned unless they enrolled early or something. Otherwise they don't necessarily have to be assigned numbers until the Fall.

Yes, I am glad that they caught this while there still may be time. Please go back and look at Michigan STates entire roster. There is no way this team should be the lowest rated team in the B10 and worse than many non-BCS teams after going 9-3 last year and to the Capital One Bowl. On top of that they had a top 20 recruiting class last year with 10 4* players. They are rated below teams that are honestly just terrible. Many publications have them finishing tied for 2nd in the B10.

I can think of hundreds of things a QA person would do before checking if the rosters are accurate. You do realize that a game that crashes is infinitely more severe than outdated rosters, right?

Making sure the windsocks are flying properly?

With the past few years of this game I wonder if "QA guys" actually exist for this series.

I'm sorry, but to play this off as an honest mistake is bull.

I wish the developers could just be honest with us and explain it. Soooo many teams are so messed up, and it's obvious if you just compare the rosters to one of the preview magazines.

I am not expecting EA to fix anything, because they obviously knew this was coming. It just makes me very frustrated with what the developers are doing to one of the best video game titles ever made.

I have a great idea! Lets keep insulting the developers so they stop posting here. We even attack them about parts of the game they have nothing to do with.

Look, we get it, many of you hate this game. So I have a great idea. Tell the designers what you don't like in a respectful way, don't buy the game and quit hijacking all the threads. If you hate the game so much why are you even here, go do something you enjoy.

I just want to say thanks to all the EA guys for coming here and talking to us.

Is NCAA 10 bad? It doesn't matter, it doesn't give you the right to be mean to someone because of a video game. Grow UP!

To me, this is just a continuation of the hilarity this franchise has become. I used to love it and bought it every year since Year 1. Since the new consoles came out, it has become a laughingstock. The first year was a complete abortion. '09 was okay but not terribly exciting or groundbreaking.

I can't believe I'm saying this but I am buying Madden this year. It just seems like they have all of the big brains on that side of the house. I still hold out a sliver of hope that they rescue this dog.

1- I agree with you about how we need to be respectful and quit hijacking threads
2-But... if the developers can't handle the intense criticism, then maybe the should consider developing a nice game like Viva Pinata where they won't get their feelings hurt.

I'm sure they can deal with people being "mean" to them over the internet... They probably won't lose sleep.. and if history has shown us anything, it's that they don't even listen to us half the time anyway

Oh, I love NCAA. I will buy it and play it because it is a great game. I am very grateful that the developers have taken the time to give us the game as it is and come on here to talk to us, but I do understand this is a business.

I'm a marketing major and realize that customer satisfaction is very important. If the developers read this and realize that some of the bugs just aren't acceptable to the fans, then maybe something will change. As customers we do have the right to voice our opinions and be "mean" over a video game. We are the ones paying $60 for it, after all. Kissing the developers butts won't get us anywhere.

Let me repeat, I will buy this game and enjoy it, but all of these screw ups have been pretty discouraging and a lot of the traditional NCAA fans are losing interest in a product that isn't at its best.

I'm sorry for apparently hijacking the thread, I am just being honest.
