Yes, they've still left a little silliness in the game, but thankfully, they've given an option to turn most of that off now. I hit that "A" button as soon as it starts and it's gone.
I saw it, thats why I said it. But Boo Weekly is not exactly what the PGA Tour is all about.

This is really starting to agravate me. I have tournament challenge. Firestone, match or beat Tigers 2000 round of 61. Fine, but do I really need to see his every shot? I know what I have to do shoot 61, I don't care what "cyber" Tiger is gonna do. Hitting (X) to fast forward isn'e enough give me the option to not have to watch him for 18 holes. Note to EA options are a good thing.

I know it sucks.

But hit A right after he shoots. It skips the shot.

What else are you liking about the game?

For the guys that play Hot Shots Golf (and enjoy it as a mini-sim with all the boosts and stuff turned off):

How do you like Tiger 10 as compared to HSG5?

I thought just like you did until I got Advanced clubs in my bag. I went into club tuner and I've adjusted my power and workability until I've gotten my clubs in the 16 to 20% sweetspot range. This has brought a believable degree of control problems into the game for my skill level ( which is at best, average). Once I went from the 31% minimum sweetspot that the "intermediate" clubs were affording me, to that of the 15% minimum of the "advanced" clubs, the game made a radical transformation.

To put how radical this transformation is for me, I went from a 90% FIR/88% GIR figure, to 68% FIR/64% GIR! I'm much more satisfied with the way the game plays with the sweetspot in the 16-20% range. Oh, I don't jockey my attributes either, I just let them hover where they fall naturally, which is in the 8 to 9.5 range. I'm perfectly content with them staying in that range and it fits the club sweetspot quite well.

I'll agree that this doesn't equip me to be as competitive online as I possibly could be, but I'm not worried about that either. I want the game to present me with something that's similar to the way the real game plays. I've found that place. Some of you will say this is imposing "house rules" and I guess I can't argue with that. All I can say is that it works for me.

LOL!!! I shot 91 in the first round of Play the Pros yesterday and over 80 in the Tour Pro daily yesterday at Sawgrass. I love the difficulty of this.

A few impressions:
  • Overall, I like it. Familiar, yet different.
  • Graphics are improved, but still has that cartoon-y feel. I think the franchise is in need of a graphics overhaul...not just improvements from year-to-year.
  • Disappointed that USGA rules don't factor into the gameplay...no options to drop the ball, for example. All they did was post the USGA rules. Lame.
  • Wind "gusts" are subtle and welcome. It's about time.
  • I'm noticing the precision putting is a little more difficult with 2-5 foot putts and less difficult with the long bombs of 30+ feet.
  • I kinda hate having to build up a golfer again from scratch through the Tournament Challenges and early stages of the PGA Tour season (where they start you off from the blue tees). But, whatever.
  • Also, I thought the "real time weather" was a cool feature. However, if you're like me, you're going to play more than one round of a tournament per day....and then you get stuck with the same weather on multiple days. I'm considering reverting to "random" weather for the offline PGA Tour season (and I think that means I have to restart my season...ugh).
  • A few problems in the Online Tournaments...on a few par 3 holes, the "how this hole was played today stats" showed a few Double-Eagles. Ummmm, really?
  • When your created golfer is feeble, it's really important to use club tuner and power up the distances. It helps.

OK I got the game, was surprised to find you can use a meter to hit the ball also. Is anyone using that or do you find it too easy?

Can anyone discuss how enjoyable Tour Mode is? If I get the game, this is the mode I would play the most. I know it is early so some might not have gotten that far, but if so how does everyone like it this year? No rubberband AI right?

Thanks

Well I figured out that on the hardest setting you can't use meter hitting. So swing stick it is for now. I shot 84 at Bethpage with Luke Donald and it was fun. The putting and short game still doesn't do much for me, especially those short putts where the players take big back swings and the sound of the ball hitting the putter face is bad. Long putts are actually pretty well done.

I enjoy the tour mode...but it is a little frustrating. Tiger Woods is killing in season, and I finally made a cut after 4 attempts, but I am 26 back of Tiger. The worst part is, Tiger is 8 strokes ahead of the 2nd place guy.

There are 21 tournaments that I counted on the calendar, and of course the Fed Ex cup portion of it. Its a little shallow as you still do typically the same things as years previous. You train with Hank after each round, and your attributes can go up or down during the course of the season. You still accumulate cash to buy new items in the Pro shop( clubs, shirts, balls, shafts )

And yes, no rubberband A.I.

The presentation of the season is pretty cool on the course, as it feels very interactive with real time updates and scoreboards. Off the course, there is not much to it though.

I would assume the answer to my question is yes, but I will ask anyway:

Do the tournaments in the season all have 4 rounds?

Well I have only played 5 tourneys so far, and yes, all of them have gone four rounds( although I have only made 1 cut )

You can change it to your liking though.( 2 rounds or 4 )

Joining the party a little late, always been a fan of the series so I'll continue the tradition and pick this up first thing Monday.

Thanks for all the impressions!

I wish I could figure out how to putt. Then maybe I wouldn't be shooting a 90+ every round

# 199 NC State-31 UNC-27 @ 06/13/09 02:21 AM
My putting isn't that bad, but I'm yet to break par in about 10 rounds with my golfer who has abilities in the high 70 ranges. Had a couple of low to mid 70s scores but haven't made the first four or five cuts on Tour yet.

I really like the greens in this game though, you can tell a difference from one course to the next.

Put in some good hours tonight and I'm hooked now. I need to work on my putting, as that was what kept me from being competitive in my first career tourny, but its a lot better than I thought it was gonna be considering how rusty I was.

EDIT: GAH!! I cannot put in the rain, lol
