I can live with some of your stats being boosted with news clubs or balls, but throwing on a wristwatch and shades should have no bearing over anything. I was hoping they'd do something about that this year. Not a huge gripe of mine, but it's definitely pretty stupid.

That and why lock stuff? I mean really, I bought the game paid full price, If I want my guy to have the (insert clubs here), why the hell can't I? That is my biggest gripe. I would love to have my created golfers clubs match the ones that I play with, but in order to do that I have to a.) play the game all the way through to the point that the stuff I own is unlocked or b.) spend even more money and buy the stuff. Neither one of those options appeal to me at all. My time to play is limited by the fact that I'm an adult who dosn't get a summer break and has a job, gf, life. Oh well.

I am so tired of hearing the same argument every single year. If everything was unlock they would be no point in playing career since they would be no sense of progression.

I think EA should push it further. You can only play online tournament or game with your created player on. No more costume that boost your attributes to 12. The real deal. This would make the game interesting. I am tired of playing drunk redneck simultaneous 3 hole fast play. All online tournament should be 1 try, Tour pro only. If you can stand the heat get out of the kitchen.

I think all we are trying to say is that some of us (not sure if this applies to you) don't have a ton of time anymore to do all of the things required to unlock all the courses etc. It wasn't a big deal for me when I was in my early 20's and played a ton on weeknights, weekends etc., but now I'm married with 2 kids and the time just isn't there anymore. I really don't agree with the statement that there wouldn't be a point to the career unless you have the unlocks. I play the career to try and win tourneys, build stats etc. , but to each his own.

As far as your other comments about Online Tourneys, I think we all agree and have been saying that for weeks now leading up to the release of the game. In fact, because of the tremendous user feedback EA has, at the last minute, built one try tourneys on Tour Pro Mode. They should be starting in the next few weeks according to EA_Mike.

I think they should make a point based unlock/upgrade system instead of specific event/circumstance for specific equipment. Give gear points for all methods of play whether it's tournament challenge, offline play, online play/tournaments, etc.

1pt to unlock Taylor Made LCG irons(Beginner)
3pts to upgrade Taylor Made LCG irons to Intermediate
3pts to add .5 of selected skill to Taylor Made LCG irons
1pt to unlock Course "X"
etc.

That way you earn points no matter how you play the game. Use points to get the exact equipment/clothes/skill upgrades you want. Set the point distribution/costs to match the time it takes to unlock everything now.

You play the game how you want. Get the exact gear you want. Focus on what to upgrade first how you want. You still have to play the game to advance the gear but you make the choices instead of being forced to play/equip a certain way. If you want to encourage people to try the different modes then give double points the first time you play each mode. If you want to steer players towards the new features like Tournament Challenge then make them worth more gear points but give them a way to advance however they want to play.

Sometimes designers forget that options are a good thing not a bad thing.

i agree that all the course should be unlocked...but the equipment should have to be unlocked through playing the game. on PS3 i would have to pay for the course...but I know i love this game cuz im acting like i dont know when to go to bed anymore. last 2 nights i have been up til 11:30 like i dont have to get up and go to work. Damm shame.

Exactly. I don't get why games "need" this. I finally gave up and paid to unlock the courses. There's just no way I will ever get through all those challenges.

Not only are they time consuming, but they are much more difficult as well. There's no way I will have time to do this. I was playing one where you have to score -3 on 4 par 3 holes and my guy doesn't even have the equipment/attributes to reach the green with anywhere near enough accuracy to score birdies.

I love how putting is harder, but they make those challenges too difficult now. You have to play nearly perfect golf for those and that is not very realistic or fun for me.

I just want to play golf. I'm still going to have to go through some to get some equipment. Right now I haven't played in any online tournaments because I know I don't stand a chance against others with the default stuff.

On top of that, I am enjoying the game but I don't want to play it every spare minute I get. I can never just play one game constantly like some, no matter how good it is. I need variety, not a treadmill.

Everyone is saying that if you don't like that cheesy celebration, big-hit cameras, awful commentary BS than just turn it off...but that doesnt solve the problem. I am not trying to just have a full golf sim with none of the TV broadcast elements, and I don't think it is too much to ask to get both. If I turn off the celebrations, than yes I won't get the cheesy riding my putter like pony celebrations, but then I also won't get the dramatic fist pumps or any emotion in the game at all. EA just needs to change all this happy gilmore BS, and take it out of the game completely. We should be able to have celebrations, but not over the top stupid weekend warrior celebrations...again just watch a broadcast of golf on TV, and make a game like that...the TW series needs a change IMHO. This would make a much better game that actually lets us get immersed into the PGA Tour, and not make us cringe everytime our supposed PGA Tour golfer shouts "get in your hole" or smiles wide and starts dancing after throwing his putter. PGA Tour golfers don't do that, and actual real golfers don't do that...the only people that would do that in real life is people that don't really know, watch, respect, or play the game.

I can't believe the celebrations bother you guys that much. If the game plays a realistic game of golf, that's all that matters to me. I skip all the celebrations anyways, too impatient lol

Do you think watching Tiger Woods come from behind to win (like he did at the Memorial) would be as much fun to watch w/o the dramatic fist pumps, or the emotion that goes along with sinking a 30 footer to get into the lead. The answer is no, this game has no emotion w/o celebrations...but it is way to cheesy with celebrations the way they are now.

I'm liking this game so far but maybe that's because I haven't bought a Tiger Woods game in probably 5 or 6 years.

I have only golfed as Tiger so far. Playing on Tour Pro with all settings on Hard and wind at about 9 miles per hour.

Shot an 87 at Spyglass last night.

Shot a 73 at TPC Sawgrass just a few minutes ago.

You guys can go ahead and start laughing at me now.

couldn't agree more.

And one more thing that is a major dissapointment year after year...why can't i play career mode as a PGA Tour pro, and not a created golfer. This would be such an easy thing to implement, why can't EA understand that not everybody wants to play as a made up golfer. It is PGA Tour Golf, let us play as a f-ing PGA Tour golfer. Your thought?

Game companies need to wake up to this, the gaming public has matured and is going to continue to mature further they need start catering to us at least a little bit at some point. There is an untapped market in there somewhere especially since if they keep us playing games then it is likely our kids will...

Mature gamers want gameplay depth and realism. The achievements, trophies, unlockables aren't interesting to us and downright annoying for many. Isn't that model a little stale by now anyway.

# 156 TimmeH @ 06/11/09 02:36 PM
Wooo! I finally broke 90! lol

I seem to be shanking the ball alot less the more I play. Now if I could get used to the new putting meter, life would be good. I think last round I only had one one-putt, and many two-plus-putts lol.

# 157 kerosene31 @ 06/11/09 03:45 PM
I like when my guy drains a birdie putt and rides his putter like a horse. I cracked up when I saw that.

Seriously, you guys can have an opinion on the game, but you knew what you were getting. The demo was out well before the game hit stores. It isn't like they pulled one of those "let's release the demo after the game is out!" deals to fool you.

You knew the box didn't say Links 2010. We'd all love a super realistic golf sim, but for now, I am playing Tiger and having a blast. I actually caught myself pumping my fist like Tiger when making big putts.

After playing the demo, I was expecting the game to be just like 09 with weather and the new putting meter, however I was pleasantly surprised to see quite a few tweaks.

This game is extremely hard or is it just me, I cannt win a challange against another play for the live of me on amateur! Haha. It is the putting that is killing, but loving it so far, but it is definitely a lot harder than previous years. I was at Tour Pro to began with and I got embarassed big time by Pak, 3 times!

Yeah, it isn't just you. The game is much harder and the CPU opponents are much tougher. They used to always miss those little 3 foot putts in 09, now they all play amazing.

I got embarrassed by that Bjorklund woman with the purple pants! She beat me by 10 strokes in 9 holes at Firestone! In 09 I could beat her by 3 touchdowns easy.

Couldnt agree with you more man, Ive always wanted Tiger and other games like UFC or fight night to do this. I do enjoy creating me and playing but there should be a option to just do a PGA tour like you would a season in Madden.
