I agree, the animations/rendering engine is just flawed. Seems to be the same engine for all of their games as well.

That is exactly what I was wondering. At about the 1:40 mark.

I guess a little play action could have got him but Ray Charles could have seen that fake.

I disagree. I think his honest approach he outlined in another thread of explaining what was in and what didn't make the cut is the best approach to take. Ian can put out a lot of the fires and assuage fans that while certain things didn't make it this year, they are definitely targeted for next year in Madden '11.

To me, the gttv footage looked much better. I thought that the ign footage looked to much like 09.

Yep.

I've watched the video maybe 10 times or so, and yeah...it's irritating already. Especially with Hammond saying it.

This should have been the game 2 years into the 360 life, not 5.
Really need to be convinced that the passing is truly improved, tired of trowing bullett passes for every route.
I hope every other play does'nt result in a scrum.
And buy the way how fast would Jeremy Macklin pull away from Greg Ellis?
Couldn't have said it better myself. I cannot keep playing a game where the ball sticks to receivers. Timing routes do not exist. It is not realistic. Sit down play 2k8, learn how to pass the ball and you will see what I mean. In 2k8, you throw the ball to a spot on the field. If the receiver gets there then it can be a great play, if it is timed wrong the ball falls on the ground. Madden desperately needs to incorporate timing routes.

Well one thing for sure presentation will be much better this year.

I was not happy with the running animations. Still to robotic for me. I also question and I'm sure it was mentioned before. Why did the Corner blitzing from the blind side just run right pass Mcnabb? That scares me.

The commentating is boring also.

Maybe its still work in progress. After seeing this video it confirmed that I will rent this game 1st before buying it. It didnt get me hyped.

The video on the Wii version actually did more for me than this version.

Was it the camera angle?

Collingsworth sounds great, otherwise the commentary is terrible with noticable "insert next line here" breaks in the speach patterns.

The running animations may look better than 09 , but the running animations still look off to me.

The animations from the PS2 and XBox madden looked smoother.
I dont see that lean that a runner takes when he is running towards the sideline. He is still straight up.

Dude, these Cut Scenes.. Romo up to the line, on the Phone, Crayton Celebration, even the Fumble Pile, were pretty frickin cool. Way Cooler than I had imagined.

Things I noticed
-Nice Pocket for Romo, McNabb's was ok. And that looked like a Romo Pass... can anyone say if that looked like a signature Romo trowing style, because too me, It looked pretty Romo like.
-I still don't know if I liked the Fumble Bar on the bottem of the Pile, I would like to be surpized when someone comes up with the ball, id rather them tell us to Press Y, but not really see who is winning. Just me.
-The Pass the Crayton looked Good, not the high Flop Balls im used too, it doesn't go 60 pt in the air vertical and come back down in a players chest. I liked how it looked (especially the trip in the endzone).

One thing I didn't like, and I know we talked about this all over OS, the running animation. Even the handout too Westbrook looked werid and Maclin running to the sideline looked ehhh, he didn't even look fast.

Players looked a little more proportioned, I liked that, especially lineman, didn't look as huge, which is good. Even the Helmets looked good, facemasks and chin straps look better... I.E, Crayton Facemask and Helmet Proportion looks great as he jumps into Austins arms.

The only thing that really bugged me was the running animation. And the fact I still don't get my Editable Eye Black. Damn.

This year, with a new PS3, I'll be getting Madden 2010 (I refuse to call it Madden 10 like it's the tenth version of the game or something ). I like what I see. I mean, of course it's not perfect but that's how the game plays and I'm sure I'll enjoy it once I get used to all the nuances of how this iteration of the series plays.

I think people over analyze this game and sports games in general. I used to be like that, picking out every single detail and having some type of gripe with it. But in the last few years, I've calmed down significantly and can appreciate the game for what it is. I can't believe we have 70 pages of discussion and this thread has only been alive for less then a day! I don't even have to go through the pages to know what's been said, back and forth.

With that said, I'm excited to play the game and can't wait to see the difference the game has made in 4 years and one console generation leap later.
excellent post and i 100% agree

The overall volume of the crowd sounds pretty weak. Plus the whole Tom Hammond talk before the kickoff is crap. There was absolutely no crowd noise during the warm-up section...very anti-climactic. The same with the TD catch, no enthusiasm by Hammond. snzzzzz zzzzzzz

Ian said that the crowd noise was broken when the vid was being shot...

Yeah, I don't know about that.

I know they have been working on it... but too me... it still looks werid. I just don't know what it is. Can't they mo cap that? I don't know anything about videogames, so I won't even try to get into it.. but Can't they just bring in Steve Smith and and bunch of Players and tell that to grab a suit and Sprint.

It's prob not that easy but.

It still looks Robotic, and now, werid, the arm movements look off, almost like the players (or Madden Crew) are trying too hard to portray movement.

I don't like the running animation, I hope they start working with on a running animation for 11 already, it might take that long.

The video's look great, cut scenes, all of it.... except that damn running animation.... even the QB in the pocket... The Ball is held too low (McNabb).... its almost at his waist.. something else that should really be looked at.

Wow, over 50% of the stuff we asked for made it into the game. That is INCREDIBLE. Damn, this forum has gone completely downhill these past few months.

The game play looked awesome

Wow people, at least wait till you seem some final, polished, uninterrupted gameplay before you decide not buy the game. Some people just refuse to acknowledge the accomplishments that Madden has made this year. You guys cant like it because you refuse to give it a chance.
