I could just be seeing things, but the running looked a lot better in the gametrailers vid than the ign one. The video was also higher res so that could be it.

Alright is rewatched the entire vid a few times and maybe I was a little too harsh. All im interested in is gameplay so I'll break down what I was looking for. On youtube there is a list of new gameplay fixes under the name EASPORTSRAC and I wanted to see those things in action so in no particular order...

1. Turn rates, players turn on a dime--after watching it a few times, this does look toned down and improved so +1

2. Route running, better mechanics--players did take steps before they broke and it did look more realistic so +1

3. Jostling wr/db interaction. Didnt really notice any jostling in these shots, someone please point it out if I missed it but for me -1

4. Procedural awareness, players looking back for the ball. On the td, the db never looked for the ball and the wr only looked over his wrong shoulder right as ball arrived. -1

5. FB dive fix/Spin animation fix. Didn't see it so its a wash.

Overall, rating the gameplay only-not as bad as I originally thought, and better than 09, but want to see more. Presentation- I liked the cut scenes, Romo on the phone in particular (the fumble pile not so much) but absolutely hated the announcer.

I think rewatching this vid with the sound off made a world of difference, that announcer reeks of 09 and kills what Madden 10 can accomplish. This game does seem to take huge steps in the right direction although I want to see some vids on all-pro or all-madden so I can really get an idea if man coverage has improved. The jury is still out for me once again.

Yeah, I noticed it in the game trailers video as well. Running looks at least as good as the PS2 version.

so the meter is still there? or can it be turned off in higher difficulties?

# 525 ScoobySnax @ 05/29/09 11:48 AM
I agree. I think the animation looks better as well. Most of our OS brethren would say otherwise. I believe this is a very solid product we're going to get.

And the way that pocket was forming..... it still appeared that you could drop back 30 yards and throw the bomb. Now I'm not saying you could, it just appeared that way.

Other than that it looked pretty damn solid.
You can do that in the NFL, its just if people choose to or not.

But I think the game looks great and the menus look real sharp too.

Looks good compared to the other vids we saw.

I like what I saw too. Good work on the animations.

This seems like an older build, or at least some stuff isn't implemented. I didn't see any depth of field effects, and there didn't seem to be much sound from the crowd or stadium. Presentation looks good, aside from Hammond as people have mentioned. Man he really drags it down, just terrible. The pocket is better than before but still sets up too slow. LOL @ whoever was controlling that CB. Otherwise gameplay looks solid at least, the TD pass catch looked good. Last year that would have been some horrible spin catch.

Here is the official Madden 10 Co-op trailer. Personally, I'm cool on co-op. Not for me but I just enjoy watching any new Madden 10 footage over and over and over...and over...and...
Anyway, peep - http://www.gametrailers.com/video/e3-09-madden-nfl/49816?type=flv

You, sir, are correct. This is an older build. Ian commented on such, saying he felt the video was outdated.

Wow, I can not believe some of the replies coming out of this thread. What happen to this community? I have been coming here for years because of the adult and mature dialogue that this site has become known for. I even, after a few years, finally decided to actually become a member of the community a couple of months ago but things like this are just a total turn off. We have a rare opportunity on this site to contribute our thoughts to the developers of the sports games that we love and for them to be treated like this is IMO, is unacceptable. There is constructive criticism and then there is what this Madden forum has become and it is not good. If this continues, this invaluable feedback we get to pass on to the developers will be gone and we'll be back in the dark. I for one, do not want that to happen. I want to see the likes of Russell (SCEA) and Ian to continue on the boards, let's not waste this opportunity.

Sorry, I just don't want to see this site go to waste.

Oh yeah......Go G-Men!!!

I'm starting to come to the same conclusion, especially since Ian has not addressed my animation/rendering concerns. I just don't believe EA Sports / Madden team sees this as an issue or something to improve upon.

They did mention the locomotion / movement, so hopefully that's coming down the pipe next year, but looks like the animation/rendering is what it is, which is going on a decade behind other competitor's.

hmmmm...I was under the impression that it was the guys from IGN that were playing the game and recording it for their website.

idk why all the complaints? Arent we looking for a game that has improvements? '06, '07, '08, and '09 you could literally look at the clips they would give out around this time of the year and noticeably tell things were not significantly different...

This year we got:
-pre game warmups
-more authentic coin toss with helmets off and a more authentic face on the players
-cut scenes
-gang tackling, and all that pro-tak stuff (remember up to 9 players!!!
-COLORED CLEATS (I didnt care for them -- but Im saying)
-Franchise Mode has been revamped (Madden Head Coach designer worked on it)

And I Know I can go on forever...the main point is, we as fans need to realize its a business for them, and a process for us....
This year, they actually came to us, listened, and came through...They have only a year, if that to come up with the best game possible gathering as much 'new' technology they can come up within probably less than 7 months so that they can actually put that new technology to work...

Give these dudes credit, its a major step in the right direction than what we have had seriously...and honestly, since they have the NFL license, they could have just went to work, picked up there check and gave us the same watered down NFL game ever since next gen came out..

Good Job Ian & Crew

Read the replys about Ians Twitter, not sure what was said on it. Never been a twitter guy myself. Too spastic a technology for me. Anyhow, in the hopes Ian reads this --

After releasing the first somewhat lengthy game play video, this is when Ian really needs to be on the boards. To explain why things don't match up with fans expectations. To assuage their concerns and to talk about what didn't make it this year and what's targeted for next year. Fan's expectations were through the roof, they were almost expecting to see a whole new game, and these short clips are really not the best way to expose the community to the game the first time. I tried to warn of this from what I was reading on the boards.

I suggest next time the game is released, or the next big release of game play that Ian does a voice over and talk about what they added, what fans were wanting, and what they still know needs improvement. By calling out the problems, before the fans do, it lets them know that one you're aware of it, and two you plan on fixing it at a later date or with the next release.

Consumers feel powerless, and any time a person is powerless, whether on a forum or in real life, they will lash out in frustration / anger. It's human nature. The best you can do is try to explain what's going on so they don't feel in the dark.

Call me crazy, but I just don't see it.......

First of all NFL2K5 had that cutscene 5 years ago of the Qb on the phone, along with many others.......

Outside of technology nothing really impresses me about this game. THe players still move awkward and lack fluid movements.
I could care less about all of the features, all I want is a game that plays and looks realistic.

# 539 Sausage @ 05/29/09 12:35 PM
Maybe it is just me, but I thought the video was fine. I liked:

*Up close shots (pregame, TD celebrations, etc.)

*Warm ups

*Cointoss

*The pocket to step up and throw in

*The improved route running

If this is an out of date video, it is an improvement. The game is still being tweeked all of you new guys and some of you bitter guys need to chill.

P.S.
Just a reminder folks OS is for the grown and mature, all of the petty insults brings our forums down. Think before you type.

It's been a while since I've ventured to this board and Madden talk in general. My last Madden experience was with Madden 06 on the original XBOX.

This year, with a new PS3, I'll be getting Madden 2010 (I refuse to call it Madden 10 like it's the tenth version of the game or something ). I like what I see. I mean, of course it's not perfect but that's how the game plays and I'm sure I'll enjoy it once I get used to all the nuances of how this iteration of the series plays.

I think people over analyze this game and sports games in general. I used to be like that, picking out every single detail and having some type of gripe with it. But in the last few years, I've calmed down significantly and can appreciate the game for what it is. I can't believe we have 70 pages of discussion and this thread has only been alive for less then a day! I don't even have to go through the pages to know what's been said, back and forth.

With that said, I'm excited to play the game and can't wait to see the difference the game has made in 4 years and one console generation leap later.
