I'm sure he is held to very strict limitations by what he can and cannot divulge about the current situation with the game/patch. Cut him some slack for crying out loud! He acknowledged there is a problem, and he acknowledged that they think they found the cause of it. What more do you want at this point?

Please don't take this personal, but it is my opinion, that it is posts like the one you just made that are beginning to tarnish the reputation of the majority of OS'ers. Frankly, also in my opinion, I don't see why SCEA wouldn't cease using these boards altogether based on the number of negative comments such as that. Let them do what they do...it takes time. Give me ONE other forum where developers consistently go on and...

1) Read what their customers are saying
2) Respond to them
3) Ask for input
4) Implement that input
5) Acknowledge problems and keep you informed
My Lord, Russell is an adult, and I'm sure he can handle these posts, without breaking down and crying.

The post is not over the top, and asking for a substantive update to a very real issue (a messed up patch that hurts more then it helps).

Every corporation has a customer service department, Russell is essentially a customer service agent, fielding complaints is part of the job. SCEA takes advantage of these message boards because IT'S GOOD FOR BUSINESS to do so. Posters have a right to be frustrated, and to call out SCEA for problems with the product they sold.

This whole issue has gotten out of control. People are missing out on playing THE BEST SPORTS GAME EVER because of a few minor issues. It's really sad because these issues are so minor to the overall experience that many are missing out on an unbelievable game of baseball. I just hope Russell and others from SCEA can overlook some of the ridiculous comments and realize that a majority of us love and appreciate this game. Can it be better, Yes. But tell me one other sports out there right now that comes close to this game
Yeah, how dare us for wanting franchises, rtts to work properly

or wanting 2 pretty big features to work....it's a shame that I get no post game highlights anymore, it's also a shame after a great game I cant go look back at some of the big moments in the replay vault because all I get is a bat magically floating in the air.

Listen guys - I really think everyone just needs to step back and stop. People on both sides of the fence here. If you want to continue this flame war, use private messages. People have legitimate questions on this thread and it's getting to the point where answers are impossible to find.

The patch has a problem. The developers think they know what the problem is and they may or may not be fixing it. Russell will let us know if a fix is coming when he either knows, or is allowed to tell us.

That is the only thing that should be discussed right now. We've been going in a circle about this same issue for 70 pages now, I don't think anyone is going to change anyone's idea of who is right or who is wrong - this goes for the "whiners", the "apologists", and for the other 98% of the people on this forum that are somewhere in between.

Russell: Thank you for keeping us up to date. I hope you're feeling ok today and that everything is alright after yesterday. I for one appreciate your correspondance on these boards.

Guys, I have found that if you "sim to date" the first date on the schedule after downloading the patch, it goes back and seems to sim the "added" game, and then eliminates the crashes (i have played 4 games since, with NO issues

As far as I know, the crash is only happening for franchises and RTTS's which were started before the patch.

I believe that people have been having replay problems with franchises both pre and post patch though.

# 687 puremvp1 @ 04/29/09 08:06 PM
ok so has anyone found a fix for the no postgame highlights or replay vault not working?

are the choices right now, either dont have postgame highlights or replay vault with the new patch, or delete the patch and put up with the stat glitch?

And this is with a franchise started pre-patch that was previously crashing then I take it?

Dear Russell.

I do not mean to belittle any of the above stated issues (plus the many others not stated here) but I have repeatedly brought up the issue of the R2 button to dive for the ball causing an errant throw to home plate. The fact that the R2 button is also an undocumented unneeded throw to home plate button which most clearly interfers with the ability of my fielder to throw to the proper base after coming up with a dive. (provided the R2 is pressed BEFORE the ball reaches the diving player's glove)

Can I please outright ask you if this issue is at least going to be dealt with if not in an upcoming patch for MLB 09, (it would be wonderful if this would be patched still for MLB 09) at least this button throw to home will be eliminated from MLB 10?

I posted this bug in the bug thread on this board. I also wrote an e-mail with a detailed description to sony customer support with a request that it be forwarded to the programmers. I am asking at least for confirmation that the programmers are aware of this issue & will try to resolve this. This problem was also in MLB 08 & I wrote to them then but it was not fixed in MLB 09.

I admit I am not a programmer, but can it be truly that difficult to disable an undocumented function from occuring in the game when it actually hinders a documented proper function of the game?

Please remember, the X button is already the proper button to use to throw to home. Why have the R2 do the same thing?

I am not being disrespectful nor am I yelling & screaming. I am simply a frustrated customer trying to at least find out if the programmers are even aware that the R2 button throws the ball to home plate.

Please please please respond to either confirm that they know or that don't know.

Yes, it was a pre patch franchise save, that crashed on me after playing one game. However, it crashed on the first "full" day on the schedule. The game i was able to play, was on a day where every other game was simmed pre patch. Then, i "simmed to date" the day that it was crashing on, and haven't had an issue in 4 games since

They did Jim! But...that was probably about 20 pages ago by now...lol.

It's too bad, because people with legitimate concerns or questions won't be able to find answers.

Someone made this observation before, but I think it bears repeating. "I have never seen so many people wronged on so many levels." Everybody just needs to take a deep breath, maybe put the game down for a few days. That's what I'm doing.

Not sure if this was brought up already. Sorry if it has been.

So I just got the patch downloaded. I tried to load the franchise I was playing and everytime I do it re starts the game. Did the patch reset everything on the game?

No worries - this thread is so convoluted that you would never be able to find anything in it anyway.

You have the dreaded franchise freeze. Check out this thread

http://www.operationsports.com/forum...anchise+freeze

Basically, your best option is probably to delete the patch, if you want to continue your franchise. There is a thread on the first page about deleting the patch if you want to check that out. SCEA is looking into the problem, but it will be a while I'm sure to get a fix, if they can fix it.

Your other option is to start a new franchise but there have been people that have the patch that are having issues with the replay show.

Russell,

So is there any chance of another patch or is this pretty much it? I think that's what most of us are wondering at this point. Either way, everyone needs to move on and just enjoy the game. Maybe a definite yes or no answer regarding another patch will give most of us some closure, LOL, for what it's worth. I don't know what to make of all these patch posts over the past few days but confusion has been running rampant, as well as tempers. I'm just thinking that a definitive answer on another patch will calm things down a bit. Thanks for posting on here and at least taking interest in the thoughts and concerns of the consumers.
