Merged "Disappointing" thread into the Impressions thread. That's why you're seeing some odd post placement.

Carry on.

I was wondering if anyone experinced this, but the check swing isnt as forgiving as 08. Meaning you have to barely grazed the button to get a check swing where in 08 you can press the button a little harder and still get a check swing.

I found the check siwing in 08 to be executed better, but its a demo so hopefully its gets fine tuned like it was in 08.

Anyone else?

I am still early on everything at the plate, I'm struggling like hell to to adjust from 08.

At least I hit 3 HR tonight on default Veteran mode, one was a moonshot with Carlos Pena on a hanging curve that felt really damn good.

Yea i actually figured it out how it works with the rings. But it does not work at all. Same as last year, i thought they said they were going to fix this?

I'm almost convinced that Legend & All Star difficulty are switched in my demo..at least in the batting department
Haha I've actually experienced the same thing...

For me on the higher difficulties the CPU simply pitches "smarter." So on a 0-2 count, I'm thinking breaking ball away (or fastball high) - nothing in the strike zone - and am much more likely to get it than with the same count on the lower difficulties. (The same goes for a 2-0 count - expecting a fastball - and so on). So as such I can be a "smarter" hitter too.

If that makes any sense.

I had a weird play last night:

Runner on first, Hamels up to bat less than 2 outs, Iīm the Phillies and because Hamels is not that bad at the plate i did not go for the bunt, BUT on a check swing by him he makes contact with the ball (was that in ī08???) and the ball landed between the pitcher and the first baseman coming in to make the play. At least it seemed as if he wanted to make the play..... no no he stopped 6 ft away from first and also stopping was the pitcher a couple of ft off of the mound to watch the ball slowly dribble to RF????!!!! Nobody felt responsible to cover 1st. The funny thing is the CATCHER ran out to RF to get the ball when everybody was safe a long time already.

I remember reading a couple of posts that this Catcher thing has already been in ī08 right?

But other than that this is just a great game and I canīt wait to get my hands on that s*cker!!!

Anyone else not getting the game to run in Dolby Digital, when connected via HDMI into a receiver that's capable of HD Audio?

No matter what I do I can only get the DEMO to run in LPCM. This also goes for 08.

Bummer, I have the PSP version of 08 and have seen this once in awhile. I had not seen it in the 09 demo, was hoping it was gone. I never saw it enough to be a game killer for me though.

Yes sadly this issue is back. It happened to me a few times in last years game. I would just stop at first and let the game "fix" itself and continue on.

This happened on my FIRST at bat with the demo LOL. but if it's like last year they happen few and far between so I can live with it.

At times, the good news is that it can be adjusted and corrected pretty easily if you find the retail version has the same issue.

I absolutely suck at hitting but I've only scored one run on a non-HR since I've DL'd the demo. I've probably played the demo about 15 times and I've hit six homers I believe, scored once from second on a single back up the middle. Still haven't hit a ball over an OF's head, maybe that isn't in this build.

I can't help you out either joe. If you were running it through a capable receiver, I don't see why it wouldn't work.

I run my through an optical cable, and don't have any problems with 5.1.

# 1259 DeathMetal @ 02/16/09 02:19 PM
I use optical as well, and have no problems with 5.1 dolby digital.

Yeah I remember your post on this. My first thought was that the game does not know what to do because of me check swinging which last year didnīt result in contact on the ball at all and now it may happen...

... So to limit the search which maybe continued by the devs...

Search between First Base and the Mound, thatīs where the ball landed

You couldn't see it (the program being fooled into thinking the field was turned around), but it made the catcher think he had to retreive a ball that went to the backstop. That's why everyone else stood still. A RF wouldn't run to the backstop.

It was discussed that this was fixed, so I'm thinking you're not going to see this. Remember this is a mid-December build of the game we are playing right now.
