I mentioned it in the "Little Things" thread, but I hit back to back HR with Utley and Howard, then followed that up with a Double. Kazmir took a walk around behind the mound and then spit on the grass behind it before going back up on the mound...Awesome!

NICE! When Maddon came out to take Kazmir out, kaz flipped the ball to him when Maddon was about half way out as to say, " get me out of here". Thought it was a nice touch.

I was the Rays last night and took a no-hitter into the 7th inning. Score tied 0-0, before I lost in the bottom of the 7th.

Ruiz led off and I walked him. Next up Hamels bunted Ruiz over to second so I had man on second with 1 out. J-Rol came up and laced one to right, Joyce is on his horse but can't catch up to it as its over his head, bounces to the wall, ball game over.

I gave up one hit and it cost me the ball game

Is it March yet?

I love the difficulty on Legend, i still cant get a hit for the life of me. I may start using Guess Pitch becuase right now i usually get about 1 hit in the 4-7 innings i play. Im not striking out as much, but man, i cant hit for junk.

Just played a great game. It went 6 innings and I really focused on the mound. Gave up a solo HR to Crawford to go down 1-0 in the 1st inning. I couldn't hit Kazmir until the bottom of the 3rd when I led off with a single by Jimmy Rollins. I then stole 2nd. I take a fastball on the outer half of the plate over Iwamuras head for a soft single to right and it scores Rollins game tied at 1. It remains 1-1 until the bottom of the 6th when I get a hanging slider that I hit for a walkoff with Utley. That was definetley the best game I have played so far.

In 6 innings the box score looked as follow:

TB 1 3 0
PH 2 4 0

Question for the guys who went to SD. Do we still have surprises in store when we get the retail version? Not specifics, just a general question.
Thanks

Yes, this is something they are working on. You'll get the animation but not the throw speed. I got a complicated explanation why so I won't even try to pass it on. It made sense though.

Yes, you get to play with 28 more teams. At least.

The home plate umpire still calls the strikezone to small! Please make it bigger!!!

You have to remember you are only seeing one ump in the demo. Each ump that is at the plate is going to have his own interpretation of a ball and strike.

So are they working on it for 2010 of trying to figure it out and make it work in 09?

Throwing control like in MVP was the best thing ever so I'm really onto that subject!

# 1113 theaub @ 02/11/09 01:54 PM
I've just started to switch the controller every half inning so I can hit...I'm starting to get the hang of this a bit. At least I'm not swinging at circle changes in the dirt now

theaub: Heh, what's great about the new pitcher/batter showdown is that in 09, we look even worse when we do occasionally go chasing! In 08, in retrospect, it seems like I'd swing on something that started and ended out of the zone. Here, when I go after one that just falls off the table, I curse but I'm grinning.

SoxFan01605: I admit, I'm probably overreacting to the one instance where it's occurred in 09. I agree with everyone that the selection of proper fielders seems to be better this time around.

Before firing off a PM, I'm going to play the heck out of the demo, switching sides and just spamming the dive. I want to be sure this wasn't a one-in-a-million glitch rather than what happened last year.

Thanks for taking the time to help me out!

I'm loving the L3 button to bring up the problems with the last hit. It's really forcing me to think before I swing. I think I'm placing my batting circle right over the pitch but I'm usually under/over or sometimes across the box! I'm also loving the commentary...I'm rather new to baseball so I'm still learning which pitches are best thrown in a given situation. When the commentators say things like..."I wonder if he's saving that slider for the kock-out", it helps me understand that you have to set up the slider usually, or to take advantage of the change-up you have to throw some faster pitches.

I only played 2K last year on my 360 and I'm so excited I'm back to the show!

Welcome back!

The Show has great baseball etiquette when it plays out in front of you!

Finally got this SOB downloaded.

Outside of seeing some framerate/choppiness that's been discussed everything seems as good as advertised. As mentioned above, the hit/swing analyzer is a very nice touch that should help me a great deal.

Finally got to see some other Sig animations. Chad Bradford, Price and Aybar are great. JP Howell is still not right though, but maybe you guys will have it in the full game

# 1119 ElroyJetson @ 02/11/09 06:47 PM
is it just me or does it seem like the the umpires call strikes almost all the time on checked swings , ive had 13 checked swings and 11 have been strikes called

I was hoping they would fix that this year but I guess not.
Me and one of the guys just played 5 straight games and it wasn't a problem in any of them, however we are playing the finished product and not the demo.
