I have a Samsung 32" HDTV, and I get the black bars as well. There's a 'stretch' option for the input, and that'll fill up the whole screen without distorting anything. I imagine it adds to the (already incredibly numerous) jagged edges, so I don't stretch it, and am stuck with the black border.
Man, I'm really struggling with hitting. I've played maybe 15 games ... most on legend and I can't get the timing down. I'm early on everything ... then I tell myself to wait a split second longer and it blows by me.

I just had B.J. Upton rip a shot down the third base line...literally and into the corner for a double that just knocked The Bosox' Jon Lester out of the game....
Oh wait a sec! I'm playing The Show '08! hahahah

After playing many of demo 09 games, I really wish we had a new commentary guy. Too bad they didnt get harold reynolds instead of, or with vasgersian. That'd be awesome!

Vasgersian is excellent. And Dave Cambell is, as well.
Hudler?? Despite being a real-life announcer, he sounds nothing like one. Hopefully, SCEA will not keep him.

The dude guy is Hudler, and annoying as he is, I think it is cool to have a 3rd guy there to add something every now and again.
oh ok, hudler I meant then. Has anyone else noticed that there are a ton of balls thrown over the head of the first baseman? There were a ton last year too.
Goddamn I just hit one off the facing of the upper deck with Howard.
And Kaz threw 6 straight balls right after lol

lol, nice bro, I just missed the upperdeck opposite field with Navarro earlier, just skimmed it for his second HR in 5 innings
on the high throws again, I had like three in one inning and im not even throwing it hard, kinda wierd

Well, I didn't write a book review tonight so I could get a few games in. I know a lot of guys have played this a bunch and most likely said some of the same things but here goes....
1. Love the lighting transition.
2. So far I have found hitting to be much more difficult. I have to keep telling myself to wait back all the time on pitches I normally would have crushed.
3. Once you get the hang of the pitch tweaks (Mostly meter speed and such) I find that it is eaiser to make your pitch. Especially with the breaking ball (last year it was frustrating to not be able to break off a curve without it bouncing in the dirt without major adjustments to aim point.)
4. In terms of fielding, I think the animations are right on. Also, some of the hot shot plays (especially wigh vuys having to back up or slide to reach a ball) are great.
5. Also related to defense, I think the throws are much more indicitive of a real game. Last year I had an issue with everythrow I made (with any jucice) to the plate or the bags being airmailed or up the line. So far, it seems like you can make a throw on a line and the game allows you to bounce it to the plate or the base.
6. Generally, the the little things in this game are great. For instance, Hitting with rollins, foul one off and he hits it to the seats but drops to a knee cause I was fooled.
All in all just a really great game and I can't wait to play the full version.

having a great time with the demo...its breathtaking.
Finding quite a few odd things in the outfielder animations....where my fielder will start to run in slow motion when I am trying to run to a ball hit in the gap or something. This isnt the one that takes over the fielder when you are under a ball, but when I am running TO a ball already on the ground.
Wondering if the SD guys noticed this in the build they played as well?
