I played one game this morning before heading to work and I do see a slight framerate drop when the ball goes to the plate. It's very subtle but it's like the ball is not moving "smooth" to the plate, it looks jumpy. Not sure if I'm explaining it properly, but I definitely see it. I'm playing on 720p. Everything else runs great though.

The timing is a little different and it doesn't feel finely tuned. I was early on nearly every pitch, even fastballs. I even had some of the "off-balance" ones that in MLB 08 I would only do on curveballs and changeups. So the pitch speed must be down, but even at that, it didn't seem as finely tuned as the last game. I am willing to bet that this is better in the retail version.

Sliders are impossible to hit. I will probably get better at seeing them, though.

Here was my box score:
TB.....1 3 1
PHI....0 0 1

Everything everyone else mentioned is great. What I like is that when batting this year, it seem to me anyways, that you are not guaranteed contact like last year if you just press X. I have had multiple times in the demo where I would have made contact last year but struck out this year.

Legend Mode. Enough said.

I did notice something that frustrated me. With 2 outs and a guy on first they hit a slow chopper. When I fielded it I wanted to throw the guy out at 2nd to see how it's changed. He took his time and tossed the ball under hand. Both runners were safe. The reason I was bothered by this was because everyone at the Community Day event said this has been changed. Can anyone let me know?

Can anyone comment on how the Catcher calls a game as far as location? I see the pitch type signal, but no indication on where he wants the pitch.

Hope this is just in the demo, but when you turn off guess pitch swing analysis is not available.

Another thing is that I can see what pitch the cather is asking me to throw but it seems that he is always asking for it low in the zone, even when it is a high ball. You can't tell the difference in the zones with the catcher's signs.

not trying to sound like a smartass but have you looked through the Strategy Guide thats in the game? I haven't looked through it myself, but was thinking that maybe it might give the detailed answer in there.

My take on it is that after he displays the pitch he wants, he'll then ask for location and when I played it was palm down for low and palm up for high. I haven't noticed that in the game as it seems he's always calling for the pitch down in the zone. After that, he'll indicated whether it should be inside or outside, by gesturing his hand towards that particular side.

I hope that made sense Tater.

Played one game as Phillies in All star and won it 0-2 (2-5 hits).

- In the second inning, got an empty bases HR with Victorino when i waited patiently to get 3-1 ahead in the count and hit hard a low ball. Used X to hit, not power hit.

- In the third inning got another empty bases HR with Howard, again using X to hit.

- I got hit by pitch once, was a nice animation.

I love the graphics and animations, need to play more games to see if i just were lucky with those 2 HR or if i'll need to move to HOF level.

man , this is gonna be a great season!

just played an 8inn game batting for both teams, look what i got:

Rays: 0R 2H 1E
Phillies: 1R 1H 0E

Kazmir: 7.2inn 1H 0ER 3BB 8K
Hamels: 8inn 2H 0ER 4BB 7K

Thats using contact, timing and solid hits sliders at 0, power at 3 cause on default i was hitting HR bombs in every squared ball i had. (all those on LEGEND level btw)

finnaly i have a chalange getting hits!! gonna have to focus and put some effort now, no more cheap singles!

btw, im on a 32" LG LCD and im seeing the stuttering too, seems the game is at 30fps...i was playing 08 for the past few days, and i can really tell the demo is not running @ 60fps for me....
hopefully the final version wont have this issue.

I am noticing that when there are shadows on the field I cannot see a ball shadow. I prefer to play with no indicators on but I don't see how that is possible now. Did the version played at the community event have some shadow for the ball even if shadows were cast on the field from the stadium?

I also noticed in the outfield I cannot see the catch region indicator if there are shadows. But I can in the corners on the dirt.

Only reason I ever wish I had a PS3. Game sounds like so much damn fun every year.

I played 3 games and the umpire definitely was "tightening" the strike zone each time...the usually fair Woody Keller was no so fair.... I had a pitch that was darn near the middle of the plate..(between the middle and middle away) and he called it a ball...eventhough I'm sure this may frustrate me a time or two...lol...it really adds to the realism...man this game is gonna rock!!!!!!!!

Sadly I keep hearing Hud or wonder dog...whatever you would like to call him saying..."Duuuude"
