I sense an 'oh-oh' only because if they're not seeing it in the Demo at SCEA, then there's nothing being done to address this 'possible' issue

Please, SCEA, check the pitched ball framerate against 08... If there's a drop, then this could affect the on-line game a bit...

Great game, as always..

In the build that the guys played at community days, there was no framerate issue. So I would say its been checked and fixed.

Played the demo, love the graphics and dynamic sun. The lighting just seemed perfect and the fans looked really good. My pitching cursor would jump a little bit - Im gonna say that may be because of the build. Alot of times I would throw a strike but it would turn out to be a ball.

I did notice they mentioned some other pitchers name then the one I was using. I wound up winning 1-0 on a HR. LOVE the Home Run camera! It was enjoyable to watch the ball sailing out into the bleachers! Great demo, cant wait for the Show to start!

I'm finally a bit more settled in my new place, so I hooked everything up yesterday and downloaded the Demo, and all I can say is WOW, just simple amazing, this game has to have the best damn looking graphics in a video game , EVER!!! Yes I said ever, my It looks that much better then last years game by a foot field's length, just amazing, I can;t wait for it to come out. If though itl;s a demo, the gameplay felt stellar, I like the meter pitching, and the meter looks different and small, so It looks like it's going to be more of a changeling when using this year.

I wish is was coming now, but I will have it early, I always do.

SCEA, just from a demo, you guys are just awesome, nice work.

I'm supposed to be entertaining a customer/client today, by taking them out to lunch. I asked my boss if it would be ok if I took them to my house, fire up the grill and talk business over some steaks and the Show.

He said no.

One more thing to add...

I felt that the AI pulled many more balls (All of my HRs allowed were pulled, and they RIPPED several balls down the line) and I noticed a few new batting animations for some fouls, tips, and misses in my game.

It seemed suprisingly polished, considering the build. I can't wait to get my hands on the final

agreed, both homeruns that were hit in my game were pulled.

So how do you take screenshots?

Just some quick initial thoughts, only played two games last night.

Played on Legend, not as hard as i thought, but it sounds like Legend got beefed up between Demo version and retail.

Dont pitch to Longoria on Legend. He has taken me yard in EVERY at bat so far.

Lighting is awesome.

Still trying to get a few hits. Not many on my end, but im rusty on The Show.

I'll hold judgement on this one until the 100 demo game results. To be honest, most HRs in real life are pulled...if I had to guess, it would be 5-7 to 1 ratio if not more.

If you are letting the Catcher call the game, i get how to read the pitch type, but what about location?

Demo impressions:

Game looks beautiful, it was beautiful last year too but the lighting adds a lot of atmosphere and presentation. Gets dark early by the fourth. (or as Yogi once said, "it gets late early here")

Gameplay much the same, but tweaked in all areas the devs said it would be and all for the good. Balls hit to outfielders take longer to get to, resulting in more xbase hits. Not sure about cutoff men and positioning. I'm no expert but I thought there should have been a cutoff in the outfield on one particular play.

Stealing is no longer easy. I was caught even after leading off!

Double plays are much easier to turn, but just when I thought they might be automatic, I saw a 5-4-3 that wasn't turned in time and I got a runner on first.

Pitching is more challenging, release point will be a big key on breaking stuff because the ball really moves.

As someone mentioned, bat speed seems to be faster. You can wait a little longer and still make contact and pull pitches.

Played on all star, lost 3-0 no HR's and I struck out 4 times. Of the six hits I gave up, 4 singles and 2 doubles. Ya, I'm not very good ...... yet.

No frame rate issues. Player detail seems a little better especially foot contact with the ground and wear of the field.

Jim I'm not sure if this was for me or not last night. Personally I had NO frame rate problems @ all. The game played very smooth.

I agree completely. I just mentioned it (which CB responded to) because the AI hit quite a few opposite field hits in 08 out of the box...more than what the "real life" ratio would be.

It jumped out to me that they were ripping balls down the line (and over the wall...lol) in the game I played. It was a noticeably more dangerous AI opponent...and one that seemed to pull the ball more.

I don't know of that carries over to the other levels though.

All I have to say is wow. It took a while for me to download the demo but it was well worth the wait. I donwloaded it last nite as soon as it dropped and it took me about an hour and a half to download and about 5 mins to install.

The game looks fantastic. The animations are great. The one animation that sticks out in my mind is when I was hitting with Utley, he got too much in front of the ball and fouled it off. He lost his balance in the box and fell to one knee. Really cool in my mind.

The day/night transitions are great. In the start of the game, hitting is a little difficult due to the sun but as the game progresses, im able to see the ball more.

Also, I know alot of people were complaining about check swings and at first I was having issues but the more I played the better I became at doing them.

All in all, the demo is awesome and can't wait to get the full game.

GO SCEA!!!!!!

I agree. I was just responding to Sox, because last year, there were far too many oppo-homers. The ratio almost seemed flip-flopped in a sense as it was natural to see an opposite field homerun and shocking to see one pulled.

Glad thats been tweaked.

Also whats the the option swing influance on or off? It says when on use the right analog stick to influence balls up, down and bunts when swiinging. How the hell do I hit the X button and use the right analog to swing at the same time impossible. Do they have this backwards? Shouldn't it be use the left analog to influance balls when you swing?
The behind the batter animation is not the standard view for HRs. Ive hit a couple and, yeah some of the animations were the same as last year, but they vary. Also, Ive hit HR's that werent no doubters and they didnt cut to the HR animations. No doubters have different animations.

As for Swing Influence, you push the right stick before the pitcher throws his pitch in the direction you want the ball to go. Say you are a lefty and you want to pull the ball between second and first to move the runner from 2nd to third base. Before the pitcher delivers the pitch, you push the right stick to the right. If you have a dual shock controller, the controller should vibrate. A thing to remember here is that even though you push the stick to the right, it doesnt garauntee that the ball will go there. Timing and where the pitch is thrown also factor in.

I find the swing influence useful in situations just mentioned and when I have a runner on thrid with less than 2 out and want to drive him in. I would push up to try to influence a fly ball.

Hope that all makes sense.

By the way SoxFan01605, I enjoyed your impressions. A bit of humor. Well written.

I got cocky and tried to blast a fastball past Kazmir....and.....he pulled it right down the line, super high flyball...gone just over the fence. How embarassing.

Did anyone notice any jaggies along the outfield wall and stadium?

I noticed this last year as well.

Does playing the game in 720p vs 1080p effect this?
