EA does not have a monopoly. They have an exclusive deal, not a monopoly.

QB takes way too long to hike the ball. I really didn't see the problem with that before. Now my friends and I are somewhat forced to increase the quarter length so we don't get only 1 possession each half. Everything else in the patch is fine but I liked the time it took the cpu to hike it much better before. I think it slows down the game and is sort of annoying.

lol...that was the point. Many people wanted more time to make adjustments and not be "quick-snapped" by the CPU. I understand your frustration, but it's an intended feature...one I like, actually. the down side to it, IMO, is that they are slow on every type of posession...including etra points, FGs, punts, and when they're in the 2min offense. Hopefully that's tuned next year. Also, maybe they should think about adding a "quick play" type feature, that is designed to get you through the game faster. Some games have been doing this for awhile (e.g. baseball games have it where it eliminates batter walk ups, certain cut scenes, etc. There's even an option for generated pitch counts to speed that up). That would be a good solution for all, IMO.

No, that is not what a monopoly is. They are not preventing anyone from making a videogame, or more specifically, a football videogame. What they have cornered is the NFL brand. Brand licensing is NOT a monopoly.

this cannot be looked at in any way as a monopoly because there are many other video games out there you can buy by many other companies...if ea was the ONLY video game company that would be considered a monopoly bc theoretically they could charge what they want for games because they have no competition...

you cant break it down to football, baseball or basketball games when talking about a monopoly...

I've noticed a lot more penalties being called. I ran into a problem playing a franchise game. The game just keeps on panning the stadium with different camera angles. The play call screen is not coming up anymore. Pressing start gets no response either. I hope this is an isolated incident!

Gotcha. I agree that the NFL license is key to all this. Unfortunately, the NFL wanted this and EA was very willing to pay (and apparently keep paying). It's not a monopoly, but I can agree that it essentially functions as one from a practical standpoint.

Thanks to whomever, Ian maybe, for adding to the length of Marion Barber's dreads. I don't know if this is the result of the roster update or if it was included in patch #2; regardless, thanks. It now feels a bit more "right".

Has anyone had issues with the clock not stopping when being tackled out of bounds? I was just playing and I got knocked out of bounds twice, but the clock continued to run inside two minutes and I had to burn 2 timeouts. I eventually got sacked and had the half run out on me.

Ok. The lack of fatigue is really starting to wear on me. Its frustrating to put long drives together but still not have anyone get tired.

In my opening pre-season game, I just put together a 13 play drive that ate up 7:45 off the clock and not one single person was tired. I have my sub in/out at 95/100 for all skill positions on offense and all postitions on defense. Arrggghh.

This is seriously frustrating.

Didnt they have a problem with fatigue from last year as well? So, nobody is getting subbed out at all? Or are players getting subbed out but they recover quicker then they tire so they leave and are back the very next play?

I didn't play '08 in depth enough to know how bad the fatigue issue was or even if there was one. The fact that players disappeared in franchise and the turnover fest really turned me off to that game to where I only played against friends and occasionally online.

I am not seeing players get subbed at all. On top of that, I am not seeing players even get remotely tired, at least according to the numbered dots on the play call screen. They are supposed to turn to yellow then red for players that are getting tired and for those who are exhausted.

The 'Phins put together a drive of 6:30 and not one player on my defense got subbed, let alone tired. My DL was still in tact and fine as were my LB's. My secondary was as well, but thats not my biggest beef. DL/LB's should get at least fatgued and DT's should come out for a play or two on long substained drives by the offense.

I am so frustrated and annoyed at this game right now, that for the first time since I've had it, I've turned it off due to those two things, frustrated and annoyed.

you are correct with what ian said...however, they toned it down because offenses were taking advantage of how quickly the defenses were getting tired not having a chance to get off the field...in a perfect world, like you said a no huddle should affect both offense and defense but apparently it wasnt effecting the offense enough therefore putting the offense at an advantage...

Or they could very easily disable the no-huddle and set it up so it is only enabled within the last 3-4 minutes of the game and the half, online of course since we can play against the CPU anyway we want. I know its not a perfect solution but its better then either having people complain about the abuse it would get if the fatigue was really working or, in this case, basically having zero fatigue.

Yeah, the only time I've seen significant fatigue and players attually being auto-subbed out is when I run the ball up the gut on about 5 straight plays. Even then it doesn' happen frequently. It doesn't frustrate me so much for my team...Ijust "simulate" it by doing my own subs from time to time. It is frustrating to watch the CPU sustain a long drive with nobody fatiguing. defensive fatigue is even worse, IMO.

defensive fatigue I believe is non-existent. As for offense. I started up another game with the 'Phins and noticed that Ginn and Fasano both left for a play or three at two different points in the game. Williams also sat down, but he goes out on all third downs, so he doesn't fatigue as quickly as every down backs. Williams was subbed after running for a 4 yard gain and then followed it up with a 17 yard gain which was called back due to holding.

That's something I look for in a game.....taking away realism to prevent cheesing online. Maybe they can add another down to prevent cheesers from constantly going for it on 4th when online.

Here's a quick rundown of the recent Madden "fumbles".....

06-Overall a complete mess
07-No fatigue....needed patched
08-Franchise lockups (sound familiar),disappearing fa's,insane amount of turnovers......needed patched, not received (for 360) until late Nov. early dec (iirc)
09-Franchise lockups (2nd straight year) lack of fatigue,it's damn near becoming a "yearly tradition"...lol
