I hope I'm not getting too excited for this. I want to be able to play this game and have fun... alas we wait for the PS3 patch....

To players still run out of bounds when they have a crap load of green in front of them?

Is the cpu throwing the ball deeper?

I'm eager to try it out. Sitting here at work sucks while half of you guys are playing NCAA.

Are zones really improved? I've only seen one comment on it. I don't want my guys hanging out on one side of the field when there's no one over there.

Some of the numbers I'm seeing still look like there are too many INTs but I don't know how you guys have adjusted the INT sliders.

I have not seen that once, I only played 1.5 games so far, others may have. It just seems like it happened 3-4 times a game before the patch, and to not see it once, in 1.5 games is at least a good sign.

drive summary still includes field goal distance.

Here's a few of my impressions from the hour I got to play before coming to work.

1. SLIDERS
With:
player KO power=100, CPU KO power=0
the CPU kicked the ball very short.
With:
player KO power=0, CPU KO power=100
the CPU kicked the ball out of the back of the endzone so it would appear that the sliders do indeed work.

2. KO COVERAGE
The KO coverage did a much better job of swarming the returner when they got there, but even with KO power set so that the kickers were kicking the ball to the goal line, the returner usually made it back to the 30 yard line before getting touched. Once he gets there he's swarmed, but I still think he gets much too far before getting touched. This was on about 10+ kickoffs. I may end up having to supersim all of my kickoffs still.

3. PUNT COVERAGE
The gunners get to the returner much better, but if the returner (CPU or player) gets by them, there's tons of green in front of them before seeing another player from the coverage team.

I think AA plays a more balanced game without some of the bad things Heisman offers. If you still can't find a challenge then jump to Heisman but I do think people should try to make AA work for them before making that leap.
Eh, im not that great, i just want a challenge. I like taking a mediocre school (yes, im looking at you FSU) and going 8-4 and building it up. I dont want to go undefeated every year. I suppose ill start the testing all over again.......Meh

He went out one time out of 10 and it was because the pass led him out of bounds. No WTF moments. Very, very nice that this was fixed!
I haven't seen anyone run out of bounds for no reason yet, but in one of my "play now" games, a FB caught the ball with lots of green in front of him, did a 180, ran back towards the line of scrimmage for 5 yards and was then swarmed by my defense. Had he caught the ball and ran straight, he'd have had another 5 yards or so, instead he ran back 5 yards for about a net difference of -10 yds.

Thanks for chiming in Jess, I was hoping someone could/would back me up on this one, as I was hoping amongst all hope's, that it was fixed for real.

Strange how they can get this right in every other edition of the game and then mess it up in 2009. But if that's the worst bug, I'll be ecstatic.

I didn't see the 40/50 yard , but I did see what seemed to be quite a few efforts in the 15/25 yrd range. I set QB ACC at 0 so he threw 5 picks, but at least he was attempting them downfield.

I have posted this quite a few times before and will post it again. While I don't have the stats from last year (its not an official NCAA stat), there were plenty of kickoffs from the 30 yard line two years ago (due to penalties) and the average starting position in NCAA for those kicks was at the 32 yard line!! (I had posted a link before but can't find that one now). After one week last year, the starting position was at the 30 in NCAA http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/footbal...yhoo&type=lgns.

Why do so many people think that teams should be starting from the 20 to 25 yard line in college. If the average starting point is the 30 its actually perfect! This is not the NFL. College kickers stink compared to them. If the kicks are too short for you then you can use sliders but I'm very confident that slider adjustments can lead to a realistic kickoff return game. Its the punt returns that bother me. I personally am always hit before the 30 yard line on kickoffs and have to elude guys if I want to get past it.

good to know that 30 is realistic

guys....ten minutes and I can tell you this is a different game. First, returns ARE much much better, both punt and kick. The second thing I have immediately noticed is that man coverage feels better overall. I'm not seeing my players 8 yards behind the WR anymore. Zone coverage is better too. And in my first game, I saw the QB air it out long twice in the first qtr. Might be a coincidence, but i really really hope not. I just saw the CPU QB skip over a wide open underneath route to throw the corner route to his TE for a 30 yard TD. I REALLY hope its not a coincidence. The one bad thing about better coverage is it means more picks. hopefully we can find a happy medium with sliders. these are just impressions from my first game. So far, I am a happy camper.

Passing stats after 1st quarter:
ME (ND) 12-19, 117, 1TD 1 INT
CPU(TCU) 3-9, 82, 1TD 2 INT

Heisman, 9 minutes, mudtigers pre-patch sliders with CPU and user both the same. (35 QBA, 95 DEF AWR)
