Good to hear Sim. The 2k games are the only games in my life that I play year round and I'd be playing 2k8 right now if my 360 wasn't down for the count. Without asking specifically for you to give us new info, I ask when can we expect to get some more official info and media?

That isn't the final build so don't expect to see everything the game has to offer.

As for the commentary... Don't expect it to be TOO MUCH better. It's just too difficult to get these "star" commentators in with enough time to make worthwhile recordings. Can you imagine asking this guy to say a line and he just reads it? What can you do, ask him to read it again at the risk of him walking out on you? I admit I was baffled by the fact that he read the same exact lines as Kenny. This game is DYING for new audio. It adds so much to the experience.

Gameplay-wise the game is tightened up though for sure. If you enjoyed 2k8, expect a better, less cheesy game. I still expect guys to end up giving Live a shot because it is "fresh" though. But if you compared the games head to head...

Looked eh to me. Players seem so out of control at times. Graphics looked great though and im really glad they fixed the Lakers away jersey

Regarding the commentary, Kellogg was in the game for maybe 3-4 days at the point when this build was made. Yes, we kept SOME of the same lines that Kenny had, but there is also a LOT of new content. At the time of this build, none, to very little, of that was implemented in the game. You guys are looking at footage that is 1/4+ of a year away from shipping.

We're not going to let you down; the level of yelling and excitement I hear from people playing around the office on a daily basis is more than I've heard in years. Top to bottom, this is easily the best game in the NBA 2k series. You don't have to take my word for it; you'll see for yourself in a couple months.
Damn man you beat me to it.

You have no worries from me. Same thing happens every year, and people have really short memories if they say it doesn't. Live has released info extra early for the past few years and in the end I get a terrible/average game. 2k keeps it kool, releases footage when they're ready and I get an amazing game I play all year until the next is released. Hell I'm still playing 2k8 with people like it just came out.

Well I can't wait to see a more current build sim. By the way can give us some info on when we may be receiving a vid of a more current build of the game?

I'm not worried about what this game is going to be like. I have faith in SimBaller and the rest of the team. My only real concern is the salary cap and MLE/luxury tax this year. If that is reflected exactly how the NBA works, then I'll be happy. Anyway, good luck w/ the game SimBaller...

Agreed, either way I'm buying it on Day 1.

But yeah commentary is forever the downfall.

well 3 minutes of gameplay, and already two easy passes to the hoop with defenders flying around trying to block looking really stupid...

# 74 Goffs @ 08/05/08 12:27 PM
now i want to see vids with the newer build...i hope they transported all the alley-oop dunks from CH to NBA2k...

# 75 Hassan Darkside @ 08/05/08 12:29 PM
Except for that reverse windmill dunk!

But yea, I hope alley oops are overhauled. And the friggin tip-slams too! Geez, we've had the same animations since NBA 2k1!!! Minus the 2 handed tip slam where he celebrates like he's riding a horse or something. That's from 2k4.

# 76 23 @ 08/05/08 12:30 PM
Sim, didn't you guys used to release early vids with "work in progress" circulating on the top of the screen?

# 77 ZephyrSong @ 08/05/08 12:32 PM
The cut scenes were nice and I really reserved my judgment because I know the build is not yet final. I remember seeing a leaked footage of 2k8 and everybody exclaimed how close it is to 2k7.

Same old same old.

Just like when the pretenders start posting threads about this and that and end up being kids who were tired of browsing porn sites already.

Yes, but I'm pretty sure that is done by the marketing team. (Yes, they have one. )

This looks to be someone video-taping a presentation for that site. I'm pretty sure this wasn't supposed to be released.

It wasnt. Didnt they prohibit OS from taping or taking screenshots of this presentation?

Some things looked good and some things looked bad. I'll trust Simballer when he says that the commentary has been changed and out of the 3 lines i heard from Kellogg...one was new. I hope that at the very least they fix the crowd sounds so they cheer at the right times. The crowd was silent during the alley oop.
