News Post

We have identified and fixed the bug causing the game to crash when editing rosters. This bug also causes teams to disappear and team ratings to change.

The patch is being tested tonight, and assuming all goes well it will be submitted tomorrow for certification. The expected release is in 5-10 days.

Until the patch, we recommend you cease editing rosters. Rosters that have been corrupted by the bug will not work after the patch. If you have a roster in progress and have not encountered any freezes or missing teams, it will work after the patch. There is a possibility a roster can be corrupt and not have surfaced any problems yet. This is why we recommend that you stop or back up your work among multiple save files.

We are also fixing the bug where the depth chart gets reordered after editing a player with this patch.

These are the ONLY fixes in this patch. We are planning on a 2nd patch with many fixes, but we had to get this one out the door.

We appreciate everyone's patience on this matter.

Special thanks to CDJ, 21SEC, and Fairdale Kings for helping us track this down.

Thanks again for updating us. The onus is on MS and Sony to get it certified and out to us. Problem 1 = fixed

What exactly is that process for MS? and why does it take so long, do they have to test it out themselves?

Adam,

Since this patch is roster related, did you happen to address other related roster issues?

Iam thinking about the fact that you cant edit multiple players to have the same numbers. Many teams have an offensive and defensive player that share the same number. If the default roster has them sharing the same number, its Ok. But, if you try to edit 2 players to have the same number, you cant.

You mentioned that you would look into this for next year. But, now that the patch for rosters is coming out, did this issue happen to be included?

No. That is a UI issue that cannot be patched.

Adam,

Since the first patch was sent for certification and it's now "out of your hands", is it safe to say that efforts are being made for the second patch now?

My question is this: there are a few rosters that are in the process of being completed and some are completed for PS3 minus a few teams that are causing issues. I am using these rosters now to hold me over until the patch comes out. At the time the patch comes out and somebody does a new roster for the PS3, and I download it either through the locker or via USB I shouldn't have a problem using it as long as I delete the pre patched rosters from my hard drive? Would this assumption be correct?

Also, OMT thank you for being a stand up individual and being on these boards and listening to all the gripes. Yes, there are some flaws in this game but for me, for what I use it for, I am enjoying it. I am getting sacks against the cpu, I have had some passes thrown deep on me but all in all I am enjoying this for what it is, a GAME. Not real life. I am laughing at how many posts there are of people saying... That's it I am switching back, or I can't deal with it anymore and countless others. If you aren't happy with the game thats your opinion just like there are others that are enjoying this game for what it is and that is their opinion. I just don't see why those who enjoy it are being called sheep or countless other names.. I used to be in this game. About a decade ago, I was a college football player and there was a model after me and I thought it was cool. It's just a game. Nothing more, nothing less. I don't care if you spent $60 on it and aren't happy. I got the game as well and I am happy for what it is. Yes the patch will help some issues.

I enjoy th is game cause it takes my mind off other issues that I am dealing with. I broke my back and neck and was unable to walk for some time and have since recovered after numerous surgeries and fusions. I am 29 years old and I spend 4 hours a day in physical therapy and after that I come home sit in front of an HD TV and I play a game of football. It's therapy for me. It's not real life.

If you are not happy with this game, that's fine I will never tell anybody what to like and what not to like but if you don't like it, why do you sit in front of a computer and go on a message board and waste your time complaining about it? Go find something else that you will enjoy weather it be another game or something else.

Yes, my post count is not to large on this board, but I have been around for a while on another screen name but my pain meds made me forget numerous things such as email address and passwords and log-on ids.

Ok, I am done ranting and I apologize to any individuals that I've offended that wasn't my intention I just hope people focus on positive things in life in general not negative. I try to make the best out of everything and take it for what it is.

Peace,

Oh, and to those that ask, I played at the UofA

Adam,

Are the dynasty schedules for conference games something that could potentially be patched, or would that be an issue for next year? Thanks.

My guess is that Adam and his crew are ready for a beer and a nap.

So do most of the people in this forum for putting in countless hours trying to find a fix or two to get this game to at least be playable.

OMT, I have a pretty simple question for you:

What if I download one of the roster sets that are currently out, and whether or not it has the bug, if I start a dynasty using those rosters, will the patch mess up my dynasty once it comes out?

Thanks.

# 232 bad_philanthropy @ 07/18/08 06:30 PM
For the second patch would it be possible to fix the pride stickers not appearing correctly on the helmet correctly in dynasty? I know art stuff can't be added but I don't know what the specific classification this issue falls under.

# 233 t3g @ 07/18/08 09:45 PM
Hey OMT, you should also release an updated standard roster with updated number and position changes along with the patch. Of course you don't have to include names (legal reasons) but a good way to keep us up to date until the season starts.

I agree.

How come soon after the play is over the clock is at 40 and then when you pick your play it jumps to 25?

Some of you that complain about the Wide-Open Gameplay and Defensive AI, just don't know how to play the game.

I have a dynasty with two teams, Western Kentucky, and Oklahoma. The worst team on the game and the #2 team on the game.

Both teams play completely differently. A lot of people complained about the teams playing very similar because of the Wide-Open Gameplay, which is totally false. My Hilltoppers are 2-3 as for OU they are 4-0.

I can hardly throw the ball with my Hilltoppers because of how bad they are, I think I have around 5TDS and 11INTS with them, and with OU I have 20TDS and 1INT.

Now, I haven't really been challenged playing as OU yet, I believe my first challenge is in two more weeks.

Also, I've played plenty of other teams, and I've never had CPU QB's that just dominated me through the air. I've had some games where I had a bunch of INTS and Deflections, and I've had some where they missed just because of bad passes.

But I've never had a QB only have incompletions due to INTs, nor even come close to it.

Perhaps you just need to pick a better defense, or learn some control ;]

you can tell the difference when playing against better teams, i used pitt against USC and there is a huge speed diff on D and O

Yeah good point. I just wish the higher-ups at EA shared Adam's enthusiasm.
