Madden 09 News Post

We have just posted our Madden NFL 09 preview. Although I didn't get any hands on time with the game, there is some good information here.

Quote:
"Ah yes, Madden, the game I was most eager to get my eyes on at EA Sports Vancouver. So no time for intros or idle chit-chat, because this is Madden you guys know the history, so I won’t bore you with those details.

Upon arriving for the Madden festivities Phil Frazier (Senior Producer) and Dale Jackson (Executive Producer) greeted everyone as they walked into the room. The first thing they talked about was the new "Virtual Trainer" mode, where you can play up to 12 different modes in a holographic environment. These modes included the likes of running, passing, rush defense and pass defense drills, and there are three drills within each category to sharpen your Madden skills. Behind the scenes, as you are playing these modes -- and games in general -- there is a system that studies your abilities as a Madden gamer; which leads us to the new Madden IQ."

Why do people post stuff like this? I'm not harping on you specifically, I'm just wondering why people do it in general. It accomplishes nothing.

By the way, formulas can change.
Madden+Ian, Phil, Simon, etc.+Community Interaction=Madden change for the better.

'Nother update...just saw it all in game and working today! Coming along decently smooth, screen work included. It even does a little rapid clock countdown instead of just popping down in seconds.

Unfortunately, the engineer had it happening before play call instead of after play call...which in essence only gave you a 25 second play clock (which is not ideal obviously). He has to re-work that (simple fix) to move it after play call, and then start actually setting up the actual patch work for pushing out to the servers for testing and such...but just thought I'd let you guys know that things are coming along pretty well.

sounds as though its coming along just fine

Nice to hear some progress. Im digging this community involvement thing. This might have been asked (and if so, just ignore me) but this patched feature, will the patch include any other fixes? will they be added later?

This is nice that we're getting interaction with the developers but do we really have to wait till 2010 to get a respectable football game? a Football game that'll be better than NFL 2k5?

Man , I've about had it with waiting and waiting for EA to stop making a bad football game....

So '09 won't be a respectable football game? And why continue to wait?

I really hope madden 09 is a decent game because I love the nfl and need something to keep me busy till the real season starts . I just hope they made franchise a little more indepth and better than 08. Also does anyone know anything about this fantasy football thing you can do for 09 haven't heard much on it thanks.

whats getting out of hand? All they are adding is an accelerated clock feature thus far because the community has begged for it. This patch has nothing to do, to my knowledge as of know, with gameplay.

I think its pretty cool that they are doing this, but hey, thats just me.

I love that people judge madden 09 even though it hasn't been released.

to arsenio, these games have deadlines. some things are prioritized, and the addition of patches has made it simple for devs to focus on other parts of the game with the hope that they can essentially finish the game later. it will provide us with higher quality games.

Are people actually complaining that EA is trying to patch something into the game that fans wanted? I understand frustration, impatience, and even the disgruntled attitude towards EA over the next gen disappointments thus far, I really do. I just don't understand the resistance to them trying to give us what we want. Then again I just remembered the standard reply: "Why do you need to patch something that should have been there already EA?" Oh well...

i dont understand why they dont talk about the glitches from last year like:
1. edit a player and they wont progress - this isssue is huge and took away the fun of editing players and drafting rookies.
2. freezing 1-5 games even with the updates
3. disappearing free agents

Would you prefer that NCAA and Madden came out at the same time?

From a business point of view, that's just not going to happen.

# 112 Daudr @ 07/19/08 03:41 AM
No matter what they do to this game, if they don't fix the horrible fumble rate and interceptions from last year then it's all a moot point. I've bought Madden day 1 every year since it came out and I will not be buying it this year until I hear if those issues have been fixed.

I would like them to come out when they are thoroughly tested, finished games. I think if they just waited til the weekends of the opening day of the season this would happen to a certain degree.
But wait, it would always be a year regardless. If Madden comes out week 1 of the regular season this year, are you proposing it come out in week 6 for 2010? If not, the development cycle is still going to be 1 year, so why does it matter if it comes out in August or September?

Unless you're proposing the series move to a sequel format like Winning Eleven, your proposal offers zero resolution. If we want a yearly game, this is how it is.

Ncaa was not ...CLEARLY. Who in the hell says the game has to come out on the same day every year. JUST release the game when it is DONE. Whether it be the first week of august or the last week in January.

So if they took the time one year to fix things like you see in NCAA, this SHOULD shorten the develop time next cycle. But even if it didn't DONT RELEASE THE GAME UNTIL IT IS FINISHED.
I believe they have a "deadline" from the NFL as to when the game is supposed to be released. Not 100% sure, but seems as though I have read/seen that a few times before.

No matter how good madden is people will complain. some people will love it. some people will be lookin for stuff wrong with it. and they def. gonna look for something to exploit. What people got to understand is its a game. it will not be perfect. if you dont like what you see or hear about it dont buy it. its that simple. People like myself are still gonna buy it. AND PLEASE STOP TALKING ABOUT AP2k8 because is not that good. that game is wack. (IMO)

like I said, I am not 100% sure that its true, just that I remember seeing/reading/hearing it somewhere.

My mistake.
