Madden 09 News Post

We have just posted our Madden NFL 09 preview. Although I didn't get any hands on time with the game, there is some good information here.

Quote:
"Ah yes, Madden, the game I was most eager to get my eyes on at EA Sports Vancouver. So no time for intros or idle chit-chat, because this is Madden you guys know the history, so I won’t bore you with those details.

Upon arriving for the Madden festivities Phil Frazier (Senior Producer) and Dale Jackson (Executive Producer) greeted everyone as they walked into the room. The first thing they talked about was the new "Virtual Trainer" mode, where you can play up to 12 different modes in a holographic environment. These modes included the likes of running, passing, rush defense and pass defense drills, and there are three drills within each category to sharpen your Madden skills. Behind the scenes, as you are playing these modes -- and games in general -- there is a system that studies your abilities as a Madden gamer; which leads us to the new Madden IQ."

I'm not getting "suckered" in either. last years game was frankly pathletic. Especially after playing NBA 2k8 and The Show. EA has the most money and makes the poorest games.

Furthermore, I am so sick and tired of EA adding STUPID pointless features, like Backtrack and the hologram training BS.

Here's an idea EA, work on your terrible gameplay, than add bells and whistles. If you dress up a turd, it's still a turd.

"he is also the first person you see as the game loads up. He will kick it over to Tom Hammond and Chris Collinsworth, after welcoming everyone to the stadium. He'll also chime in at the half with highlights from the game. "

Presentation.....i have high hopes now!

If they claim that they've finally "caught-up" with last-gens franchise mode and all of its features then they needed to do a lot more than that. Still waiting to see if there will be 'Player Roles', a complete 'Owner Mode', training-camp, pre-season/mid-season progression, a working in-season scouting system, the ability to edit positions, a more competitive FA period, pre-draft workouts, a central news-hub, weekly preparations for your next opponent, and on and on...

Looking forward to more info, Thanks!

Wow you hit the nail on the head. I would love to see all of these make their way into Madden. I mean a football game has never done things as innovative as that before.

Oh wait, there was Madden 05....

I didn't ask, but I know there aren't any in NCAA, so I'm guessing it's the same w/ Madden.

And I wonder what the deal is going to be with in-game saves. Did they say that they were working to get that put in by the next build?
They thought it was working and were surprised that it wasn't. So I'm guessing it will work by next build. At least I hope so. It definitely wasn't working in the build they were using.

Nice preview though and thanks a lot!!
What's funny is GameSpot was in the same meeting I was in and they showed it, right in front of our eyes, it wasn't working. But they were suprised, so I would think it's going to be there by next build. But who knows.

If so, what was said.
U mean the differences between the 2? The only thing that was mentioned as both will run 60 FPS.

Good read, I'm glad to hear theres still sliders in the game. Kinda bummed about no 70 man roster like HC. Do you know if Dallas' stadium will be in the game during the '10 season?

@Hurricain; great minds think alike.
People like you just want to have a resaon to bash EA!!
This would be a bigger issue if you couldn't turn it off. Another round of haterade

The NFL roster is 53. I would love to have cut to 53 in the pre season.

No, people like me just want a reason to buy a decent NFL game.

And unless youre going to have a thougthful response to my post, please, dont quote me just to make arbitrary accusations. thanks.

So just because Madden doesn't have a 70 man roster, it's not decent?

In game saves, they will add it in, since someone comfirmed it, they are going to have to include it, coz if it is in the game, then....I am happy so far, I am being optimistic about it, I think it will be a playable game this year!
