Vetzballin.com has posted their Major League Baseball 2K8 Game of The Week: Red Sox vs. Rockies, which includes some screenshots and a video clip showing a full 9 innings of play.

I love the detail in the game. It seems to be leaps and bounds over last years version.

But one thing still bothers me. Every player has the same stride before the swing.

For example: Manny, and David Ortiz both have large steps before they swing. In the game they have a generic mini step before the swing. It's not a game killer, or anything, but it's still a minor detail that I really wanted to be adjusted.

MVP did A great job of doing the strides of each player.

I'm still pumped about getting the game

The gap seems to be closer than last year when comparing the games

But I won't be able to make a more definitive statement on that until I get more time with MLB The Show and compare head to head

Well i am hoping that this year 2K will close that gap. It was certainly the case last year though. I am getting both games. I know the show will be great. And I am hoping 2k8 will be great as well.

Thats good news. quick question for you, could you see the whole flight of the ball on the aerial cam. I couldn't tell with the viewing area of the vids being so small.

I'm not looking for a reason to "hate" 2K8. I'm looking for a reason to throw down 60.00 on it. I'm a baseball nut so I know eventually I'll have it. When the card collecting has me the most interested that means there's a problem. I'm not a huge fan of timed only hitting so that's my first isssue. Second is yet to be seen, and that is if the pitching and hitting stats will be decent. Will I actually walk people and be able to generate walks while hitting. Hopefully the demo will drop soon so I can get a feel for the game. Until then I'm not sure what to think.

Oh i hear you, and im not saying everone who has a negative thought on the game is looking for a reason to hate it. But the thing that bugs me is when blatent show homers come in here and bash 2ks games.

Understood and agree. I know we'll never get to the level of all gamers understanding competition is good, but we can hope.

HAHA nice, Im not the type of poster that would blast someone without a good reason. I have been here long enough to learn that. Anyway thanks for going back and seeing why i said what i said.

My biggest problem with this thread is the fact that people are making judgments about a game they havent even played.

I'm sure this game plays very well (when considering hitting, pitching, fielding, and baserunning). But, I'm not even talking about looks necessarily when I say that this game looks like a mess. It really does, and it makes me say that I will pass this year. I think that next year I will actually grab myself a PS3 baseball title. Until then, I'll just have to hope for the best that my wishes get into these games.

How are people trashing the graphics/lighting when none of these vids are in HD?

I saw a lot of good things in those vids, I'm very excited for this game.

This game looks incredible. I cant wait. The pitching is going to be so rewarding and feel great I can tell. What I am getting pumped for is the AI logic looks like it is amazing (the papi and manny strikeouts, although i think 2-0 a guy like Papi would not have swung at that pitch lol). Very tremendous improvements by 2K! great job. I'm now even more excited to start my franchise.

I need to quit reading this stuff.

All the complaints you guys are point out, valid though they may be, are things that I would never notice in 162 games, unless of course I was looking for them because I read about them first.

Yeah its just one of those things that you have to accept about this series for now. This is in no way a game killer for me.

This is suppose to be recreating the World Series, do you really think there is no way the Sox would bring Paps in the 8th with a World Series game on the line???!!! lol
Alot of teams will bring there closers in the 8th inning of a World Series game.

I don't think you can even think about reviewing the game graphics and color from this poor quality video. It is a recording of the game not an accurate reproduction.
