It's funny, we've got some clients in Indy and they all say the same thing that dunny pointed out....they're definitely still burned by those earlier Pacer teams..

I think it's the strangest thing...lol

Other than Granger mouthing off or Vogel saying some edgy things every now and then, the team has been classy on the court, good in the community(from what I've read.. don't live in Indy anymore so don't quote me), and haven't had any issues off the court either. If people are still holding onto Artest punching dudes and Tinsley/Jackson getting arrested and all that garbage that's been in past for half a decade now then so be it. They're obviously not moving on.
Like I said, don't think it's wise to get too deep into the conversation, but from things that I've heard about Indy, the same knock that lingers around Boston can apply there.

Re: Best/Worst fanbases?

Here's a quote from the Indy Star by George Hill after the recent home lost to the Lakers.

http://blogs.indystar.com/pacersinsi...ll-transcript/

“It sucks. It was 70 (Lakers fans) – 30 (Pacers fans) out there. These are the same people that wants autographs after the game. We’re out there in the community. We’re doing our job, doing what we’re supposed to do on and off the court. Something has to change. I tip my hat to this team. We’ve been trouble free. Been out in the community shaking hands, we’re winning. It shouldn’t feel like an away game, especially with an important like this. Tonight, that’s what it felt like.”

Talking about being out in the community and the team staying trouble free makes it seem like Hill believes something is being held against the team.

What I see is mostly fans using the Pacers past as an excuse to not root for the Pacers. Unfortunately it seems like it's a common theme throughout Indiana though in regards to how people feel about the Pacers. They latched onto that stereotype of the Pacers being thugs from the mid 00's and it hasn't changed with time even though the Pacers team makeup has.

But, it's faster and easier to damage your reputation than it is to build it back up and I think right now the Pacers organization is seeing that happen. It may just take more time to build that reputation back up. And winning. Right now the Pacers are doing the winning, if that keeps up for the next season or two I definitely see the pacers gaining more fan support. It just sucks for the current team who deserve the fan support now.

Re: Best/Worst fanbases?

So are you suggesting the Pacers find a way to get Cody Zeller then?

Re: Best/Worst fanbases?

We're they?

Serious question because I have no idea especially teams in the Pacific Northwest were rarely talked about on the East Coast.

After some thought, I think I get what you're hinting at now, don't buy it at all though. I never got that sense in any of my time living there. Not once. They drew great attendance until the brawl happened and even some time after it I believe. I don't think it was until Tinsley and Jackson were getting into off the court issues where we saw the support really start to decrease.
