This Summers Weakest Link

This should be fun

Who do you think from which teams front office will get rid of or at least explore what they can get for them?

I'll start with the

Clippers:
Chauncey - They wont re-sign and he might retire
DeAndre Jordan - Might look to see what they can get for him at least by AS break
Grant Hill is going to retire
Caron Butler - Possible.. my brother is getting old and has turned into a catch and shoot jump shooter only
Vinny Del Negro - There really is no reason to keep him other than being cheap

Raptors:
Bargnani
Fields

I would be REAL surprised if Raptors didn't use amnesty on one of those two guys(whoever they can't find a deal for).

Really..Raptors weak links are like anchors. They're holding down the team so much, mostly with their contracts(their play also isn't great, but it wouldn't hurt Raptors as much if they were like 3-4M guys), but the second they're gone, Raptors will become so much better since they have most of their team locked up, with almost 20M in salary to spend(assuming Fields/Bargnani aren't on team)

Another weak link COULD be MLSE(company that owns Raptors). Doesn't have the best reputation when making Raptors GM decisions. BC decision was great for first 3 or so years, but then just nothing really came out of it after that. But if BC is fired, Raptors are more likely to hire a worse replacement. Though after hiring a new President/CEO for MLSE(a guy who was president/ceo of company that owned Lakers among other LA teams), that might no longer be the case.

They might just look to trade Bargs by the all star break as well. If he can show that he's healthy again

Bulls:

Rip- Has played his last game in Chicago. Unless he gets some burn in the next few games which I doubt, it's set. The Bulls have a team option on him that they'll most certainly decline and with his health issues the last two years I can't see him catching on anywhere else so he may just end up retired next year unless some one takes a flyer on him for cheap.

Nate- I would love to have him back but I think he's going to be out of here. He's played well enough this year that some team will give him a deal better than anything the Bulls would be able to offer. I think with Hinrich under contract for next year already, Rose coming back and Teague on the roster he wouldn't be brought back anyway. The only way it has a chance I think is if he's willing to take a one year deal again.

Marco- He's tricky. He's played well and with Rip leaving town I can see Marco being brought back as a backup two guard off the bench to run with Hinrich in the backcourt. Would be on another cheap deal though as the Bulls want cap space for next summer's free agents.

Vlad- Gone. Unless he's just brought back to be filler again.

Nazr- Not sure where they're gonna find another big to backup Jo, so unless he retires or gets more years elsewhere, I can see him being brought back.

Rip Nate and Marco are certainly interesting picks... Bulls still need shooters though, Rip is the most expendable.

Utah:

Either Milsap or Al J will probably be traded. Clipps should take a look, but that just leaves minus zero defense inside.

Re: This Summers Weakest Link

This going to be the new Offseason Movement Thread?

As for the Nets:

PJ- Ya'll already know the answer to this

7 Day Dray - From what he's said and from what I've read about signing players that were cut under the Amnesty Clause, it sounds like he'll be back as he has said he doesn't want to help the Wizards out since they're still on the hook for a few more years.

Stackhouse- See response to PJ

Hump- I think Billy King will try to move him since his contract becomes a bit more "attractive" than it was this past season since it comes off the books next year. If they do move him, they'll probably package MarShon Brooks and some picks along with him.

Bogans- He's probably gone but wouldn't be surprised to him come back on another 1 year deal.

Fields can't be waived via the Amnesty clause -- he signed his contract after the new CBA was ratified.

Re: This Summers Weakest Link

Mavs have 8 free agents:

OJ Mayo
Darren Collison
Brandan Wright
Chris Kaman
Elton Brand
Mike James
Roddy Beaubois
Anthony Morrow

Mayo - Don't expect Mayo to be back in a Mavs uniform. The Mavs will definitely throw an offer his way but other teams will be more than willing to offer more and offer a better situation.

Collison - Doubt he's back either. He doesn't want to be a backup and Carlisle made it known throughout the season that he sees Collison as a backup, not a starter.

Wright - Brandan is the Mavs number one target for me of these guys. He's only 25 and is coming off by far his best season as a pro. It would be a shame if the Mavs developed him and he went somewhere else to play out his prime. Expect him back in a Mavs uniform next year.

Kaman - Kaman's gone. He talked about being frustrated with his role on the team and went stretches during the season where he played very few minutes or didn't play at all, even when he was healthy.

Brand - I'd like to see Brand come back. The question is going to be how much are the Mavs going to pursue big name guys, if they land one I doubt Brand is back, but if they can't land a big name I could see them pushing to get Brand back. He was basically the only hard-nosed guy on the roster last year.

James - I'll be surprised if he's back on our roster next year. Carlisle loves him but the Mavs are going to be in a bad situation if he's on the roster next year.

Beaubois - Roddy needs a change of scenery. His potential in Dallas was so high but he's had a lot of bad luck. He'll probably get a one-year vet minimum deal with someone and get another chance to prove himself. I wish him the best.

Morrow - Hard to say with Morrow. He never really got a chance to show anyone much of anything while he was here. I'd be pretty surprised if he's back.

So I guess the weak links are basically everyone besides Wright and Brand lol
