To me, I've always taken those previous meeting that happened in the previous weeks with a grain of salt. This is the REAL meeting where we can hear one of the following:
- They're meeting again on Thursday(good news)
- They're going to make an announcement on a proposed deal which could be ratified(very good news)
- NBA cancels the rest of the pre-season and meet again next week(not too bad but the season probably won't start on time)

October 1st is right around the corner.
Wont meet on Thursday because of Jewish holidays.

This should come as a surprised to no one. The hard cap was a ploy by the owners. We saw this in the NFL labor situation. You add a bunch of stuff you don't really want so you can "take something off the table" in a interest to compromise. This way they can say "Hey we caved on XYZ, but we're not caving on this". When in reality they never wanted XYZ to begin with.

Imagine the Lakers, Celtics, Mavs, Magic etc trying to fit under a hard cap. It would completely shake the league up over night Stern would never allow that.

Is Rosh Hashana celebrated on Friday as well? If not, maybe they'll meet then. If so, then I'd scratch a meeting this week and hope for the best for today. October 1 is Saturday and I guess if there's no progress after today then I'm expecting the cancellation of the entire Pre-season and a delay to the regular season.

I don't care about pre-season games, so I don't care if all of them get cancelled. I don't even mind a shorter regular season but I don't want to see a whole season cancelled.

In terms of the media, the star of the lockout is Ken Berger from cbssports. He's the only reason I go to that website. Ken has very good contacts within the NBA and brings up good points in his articles.
Why? Even if the hard cap was 65-70 milllion the top marque teams would still be handicapped. No way Stern or the big market owners would cripple those franchise.

Billionaires arguing with Millionaires about money, best description of the lockout so far.
As you can see, Ray Allen backed off this stance recently.....NBA players saying things like this just show they arent educated about the situation and need to have a conversation with their team rep.

I actually agree with Rose in the sense that the lockout is unnecessary. However, I do agree with you in the sense that he's not updated on the situation and it's more to it than the 'millionaires vs billionaires' line. Yes, it is rich folks trying to get richer BUT the why part about is has a bigger incentive for him to actually be updated and kept being involved.

Rose has got a whole career ahead of him and he better be updated because after next year when he's off his rookie contract and makes his MAX money, he better know what he's getting, how long the contract and where he's going to play. You never know. This CBA might throw him a curveball and next thing you know he'll be choosing if he's going to play in Chicago for lesser money or he's going to leave Chicago, his hometown, and play somewhere for MAX dollars.

I mean I get the whole "theres more important things in the world to be worried about" thought process, of course there is.....

But when your "on a side" of that argument, it just doesnt make any sense to say that IMO...

Exactly. I can understand that if it was someone like us who said that. BUT Rose is a member of the millionaires in the Millionaire vs Billionaire fight.
