"According to Bucher's sources, owners did not offer players a finite annual team limit on salaries but as of Tuesday night were willing to relax the cap only if certain conditions are met.

Those conditions include:

• The "Larry Bird exception," which allows teams to exceed the cap to retain their own free agents regardless of their other committed salaries, is limited to one player per team per season.

• The mid-level exception, which the league valued at $7.4 million last season and could be extended by as many as five years, is reduced in length and size.

• The current luxury tax, the $1-for-$1 penalty a team must pay to the league for the amount it exceeds the salary cap, is to be severely increased.

In last week's negotiating session, the owners proposed that the players' share of basketball-related income, or BRI, be sliced from 57 percent to 46 percent, and a source told Broussard that the players were offered 48 percent of BRI on Tuesday.

The owners also want a 5 percent reduction on all existing salaries for this season, a 7.5 percent reduction of all 2012-13 salaries and 10 percent reduction of 2013-14 salaries, a source said."

I can't see the NBAPA accepting that offer. There's no hard cap but that's a lot to give up.

I could see them accepting it without the roll back and with at least 51 or 52% of the BRI. The Bird exemption limit isnt a over the top request and a 2 for luxury tax is reasonable.

Wont change a thing in my opinion because they arent the ones who will be most affected by a new CBA. They will always be at the top of the salary scale.

The way I see it, they're going because owners are more likely to do what the biggest names want. It gives them a face to acknowledge when they hear the demands of the players.

Re: NBA Lockout and Collective Barganing Agreement Discussion

Now ya'll see why I was never as optimistic as ya'll were LOL.

Even after all that "good news" came out last week, ain't no way in hell they were gonna settle all of that and come to an agreement in a week. Especially when neither of them had shown any signs PERIOD of backing off each other's demands.

And all of a sudden NOW Kobe, Lebron, Durant and Wade want to be apart of the talks? Where the **** were ya'll ***es while this whole thing was going on? Honestly, you might as well just stay home because it ain't like any of you will impact the Owners demands.

This is why I didn't get too invested in this nor put too much credence into what guys like Sheridan and Broussard and Berger because I had a feeling before the beginning of last year that games were going to be missed. In the NFL, anybody that followed that knew damn well that they were not going to miss any games(Regular Season and Preseason)mainly because of the amount of $$$ and once that issue with the TV Contracts was taken care of by the Courts. Not to mention you got Owners out there that NEEDED a season to happen(see Jones, Jerruh as one example). In this situation, you got Owners out here who could give two ***** if a Season is lost, much less the Preseason.
