Plus isn't there a chance that current salaries are going to be rolled back anyway? So if he signs his 3yr/$65M extension it's going to be less than that anyway once the CBA comes out.
That's what I'm saying though, there's almost no way they're going to be able to touch contracts that were in place before the new CBA. Joe Johnson just signed his deal so this isn't going to bother a "B-List All Star" like him because NBA owners are morons and he'll get the same max level contract possible under the new CBA that guys like Carmelo are gonna get under it because they're giving him max level deals like those guys already. Nobody forced them to make JJ a max contract guy, but lookie lookie.

Re: The Carmelo Anthony (NY or Bust?) Thread

I was hoping the Bulls was going to sign Joe Johnson. BUT not for that price. My thought was, if we didn't get LeBron that we would sign Joe Johnson and Chris Bosh OR Carlos Boozer. I figured if one of those scenarios went down, we would make a serious run at the title.

BUT back to the topic at hand, in Melo's best interest he might as well just wait until the end of the season.

Never said Gallo is a bum, he's actually a decent player, but he fits no where in the line up with Carmelo, Chandler and STAT's, I'd rather have Landry Fields he's a perfect for the role he'd play with those 3. I just see Gallo getting lost if he was coming off the bench.

He couldn't be a good 6th man?

Re: The Carmelo Anthony (NY or Bust?) Thread

Frank Isola said the Knicks turned down an offer from Denver last night...

Felton
Gallo
"another starter" (so Fields or Chandler presumably)
Eddy Curry
At least one 1st round pick

Carmelo Anthony could have become a member of the Knicks on Monday night.

New York president Donnie Walsh turned down an offer from Denver that one team official classified as "steep."

According to a team source, "there is a deal to be made" but the most recent machination wasn't to Walsh's liking.

The Nuggets offered Anthony and Chauncey Billups to the Knicks for Danilo Gallinari, Raymond Felton, Eddy Curry and at least one first-round pick.

The New York Daily News writes that the Nuggets are focusing on the Knicks and Bulls, with the Mavericks and Rockets as wild cards.

there almost there, few offers back and forth and they'll agree to something.........

I haven't been follow this because I'm pretty much sick of all the talking. So now they are trading for Bullips and Felton in this trade?

Re: The Carmelo Anthony (NY or Bust?) Thread

Honestly, its time for Denver to cut their loses and implement plan B.

The Nuggets are too inconsistent and it looks like all of their air has been knocked out of them.

NY is not going to allow Denver to rape them for Melo and Denver had better understand that ((while I get they want as much as possible), I doubt they'll see equal return in this trade...

It really shouldn't even be too much back and forth since the fans are tired of it, and the players are showing they are as well.

This story got old way faster than the LeBron-athon
