Bad economy is good for gamers lol. These guys have to step up their games. The technology is there if they don't do it, someone else will. They aren't getting a free ride anymore and they know this.

EA lost like 700 million dollars this year. Live 10's sales were not good. Money talks. We are going to see some awesome new ****. 2k is in teh same boat. They lose their basketball franchise they are in serious trouble.

Creative director for NBA Elite 11 David Littman, who has made the NHL series at EA a huge success, said that, "Now, if someone makes a shot from half court, you can't get mad because it's entirely skill-based."
I've had huge arguments with people about that same idea, and it's true... if they can actually make it so that it's not exploitable and get rid of the predetermined outcome completely, it would be a huge day in basketball video games. Of course, I'm skeptical about them making it work.

But you're right, though... basketball is definitely not hockey.

and IMO that's a problem wouldn't you agree 23?

For example as i said a few times before.....if they do away with ratings wouldn't that mean Eddie Curry could make the same jumper as Ray Allen in the game because the USER himself is good with the shot stick?

Now again I don't have a problem with them going this direction because most people who play online would like to determine their outcomes based on their own stick skill ability...

But for guys like who prefer my own little Dynasty mode offline vs the CPU i want ratings for my players to factor into account the most. I don't want to have the same feeling shooting with Shawn Marion on the perimeter as I would with Dirk......I want it to be tougher to make shots with Marion but if my stick skills are good wouldn't that disregard the fact that Marion is a terrible outside shooter?

I mentioned this earlier.....I think EA should have 2 seperate control options of the shot stick. One for Human controlled shooting where the Human dictates his own success regardless of who's shooting

And the 2nd option should be strictly tied into what ever ratings they determine of that player on your team.

I remember in MVP Baseball you had that option for pitching style USER control or CPU control which would factor in the ratings of the Computer player only when you pitched.

From what I'm reading right now it seems like the minute I become good at the shot stick in NBA Elite I'm going to knock down shots at the same rate regardless of what player I'm controlling on the floor since every thing will be decided by my own ability master the shooting controls.......

I don't like that OPTION for my style of play

What I got out of the Q&A is that shooting ability will be ratings based, but the outcome(hit or miss) is in your hands....so i would guess that eddy curry won't be making jumpers from 25ft out

Re: Basketball is NOT Hockey

I can see where you're coming from PM and I wouldn't want to see that either. And I don't think the guys EA would allow that to happen Littman even said there was a lot of factors going into the difficulty of the shot.

I mean all we can do is speculate but I would say we really gotta wait and see on that. I'm not going to knock the difficutly of it though because the system seems well thoughout.

I would be more freaked if the system was like 2K in that all you had to do was pull the stick for the set amount of time. This one at least seems like it will take some practice and precision to master in every situation.

So even if you do become good it will probably take some work to get there, and from that point slider adjustments would probably be able to remedy it dont you think?

Men how much does this guy know about basketball ?

I loved the previous direction of Nba Live now its elite which isn't even a term in the basketball vernacular. A now this gentlemen who made Hockey a hit is the CREATIVE director ? This is the NEW direction ? does anyone else who loves BASKETBALL see any thing wrong with this ?

In an effort to sell units will they sell their basketball soul ? Elite 11 ? come on family. That is not inline with the culture of the game!! Heres to hoping I'm wrong but I think the basketball will suffer. It'll probably be a lot of fun for the first 2 weeks though.
I think you're jumping the gun a bit. It's way too early to start panicking. After E3 we might have a clearer idea of what to expect from this game. For the time being let's just calm down and acknowledge the fact that change can be a good thing. Wait and see is the best approach right now.
