Re: MLB 16 Trade Discussion Thread

Is a JD Martinez trade for Mateo and Severino too much? If so, what about a JD for Bird and severino? Too little?

And what's the market for Kinsler? Just trying to figure out destinations for these guys before I start my franchise and carry it over.

Those feel too strong for Martinez. He only has 1 year left. The Bird + Severino package is closer to the right value, but Mateo is a top-25 type prospect. And Kinsler has big value, maybe the Dodgers would be a good landing spot.

Rocky I think your assessment of zimmerman was right on and honestly i think for longoria an okay at best pitching prospect and player with low floor high ceiling is all it would take.

Ended up doing:
Kinsler to AZ for Archie Bradley
JD, Sanchez to NYY for Bird and Kap
Miggy to Boston for Moncada, Benentendi, Ball
VMart to Houston for Musgrave
JV to LAD for De Leon and Verdugo

I didn't take the time to go back and look at which teams are involved but thats way lowball for Longoria. Also, Rocky has been banned on here plenty of times so theres no real need to give him options.

Your Miggy deal is so bad (IMO) it hurts.

I know he's a star now but you got two top-10 prospects for a guy who is gonna make over $30M per season from till he's 42. There's a whole lot of negative value on the back end of that contract.

http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/gaugi...tin-verlander/ There's a table in here showing how his value will change as he ages.

I think that could end up being the cost in the end. Yes hrs owed 30+M over the life of the contract. Yes he's been injured a lot recently. But his numbers are still there. 30+HR and 100+ RBIs. Hall of Fame player. His numbers should soar in Fenway with the monster, the valley and the short porch in right. He'll be healthier if he's the DH. Plus look at the impact that he'd have on the hitters in front of him. JBJ will get better with Mookie behind him. And the season Mookie had was already amazing and. now you put arguably the best hitter of all time behind him.

Then you look at this. DD trades away prospects like no one else. And there's rumored to be 3 teams in on Miggy. Houston, Yankees and Boston. Created a bidding war. And the bidding war gets fueled more between the Yankees and Boston. I could see that this would end up being the final cost. Now maybe Detroit takes say a 10M bullet on the trade to make it happen.

I'm not saying Miggy would be cheap. But asking a team to trade away Moncada + Benintendi is STEEP. Maybe you could get one, but those two are worth $147M in surplus value. So Miggy would need to be worth the $220M left on his deal plus $147 more.

I don't know that a player outside of Trout could be worth $367M over 7 years.
