Also did anyone see a balk while playing it and were they hopefully few and far between as well? I like that the game has all of the real life possibilities, but the frequency of such things isn't very high.
- I think nem said that the comp is not programmed to balk this year. It is only for 2 player and online play. It can be turned off for single player if you want because the user is the only one who will ever balk.

Right - it was put in as a deterrent to quick-pitching, not to be statistically correct. They don't want to leave it up to random chance - that's what I think this boils down to. If a CPU player balks, they want there to be a reason why they balked - and it seems they didn't have time to get that in this year.

Nemesis,

Great job on your reflections! Seriously.

As far as analog pitching goes (combined with a more stable confidence meter), did pitching with a number one feel a lot different than pitching with a number five?

I'm concerned that the bridge between aces and inexperienced/gap starters may be less noticeable this year, mainly because confidence played a large role in meltdowns.

SCEA does a remarkable job with their player ratings, so I'm sure I have nothing to worry about, but would like some reassurance that once I feel comfortable with the new pitching system, aces will still act like aces when "on," and number 5's will get lit up from time to time; regardless of my analog skill.

Any thoughts on pitcher/ratings differentials?

I used the broadcast exclusively last year for both myself as well as the cpu. Did you guys who attended the CD this year play with the normal fielding cam? Is that what youre baseing all the fielding questions and answers to?
I felt the broadcast cam looked great and added a fresh new angle to the the game but 10's fielding wasnt exactly difficult. Will I have to go back to playing on the default fielding cam? Not a big deal really just curious.
Thanks guys for all the time you've given up for us and the show.

I have a more broad question on Show in general as opposed to the most recent version. Anyone who can provide insight, it would be appreciated.
I figured I would just post it here as it seems to be where all chatter is taking place of late.

In brief, how do online leagues work?

Is it just one series at a time for every team in the league for example and then you just have x number of days in which to complete those games? (As set up by the commish)...

What if you can't be online at the same time as the opponent you are supposed to play? Does fatigue factor in at all, or do teams always just use their number one starting pitcher for every game?

Anyway, any insight someone could provide would be great. I'd love to get involved in an online league for MLB 11, but I need to know more about it and how it works.

Re: MLB '11: The Show Community Day Gameplay Q&A

I understand that how fast you push the stick forward determines velocity on fastballs but what would be the correct speed to push the right stick up if you want to throw off-speed and breaking pitches ??

Does velocity work just the opposite for offspeed and breaking pitches ??

Like if I want to throw a nasty changeup would the faster I push the stick forward make the changeup slower and more effective or faster and less effective ??

Would the faster you push the stick forward throwing a curveball make it have more or less break ??

Have we always had strength as an attribute either in RTTS or Franchise? If not, what exactly does strength do?

In RTTS it is said the sliders are power/contact speed/strength and glove/arm

I would assume, and hopefully one of CD guys can confirm, that it is like Classic Pitching in which the fastest flick of the analog stick (holding the button longer when pitching in Classic) is more about the "effort" as opposed to speed.

For a fastball you get a faster speed because you are putting more effort into the pitch and on a breaking ball/change up you are just making the pitch that more effective (bigger breaks or better deception/slower speed).

If that makes sense...
