Re: The Official San Diego Padres Thread

Looks like our luck ran out. Well, no one should be surprised to say the least, but I gotta say, it was pretty fun winning games and coming back, but reality set in.

It's nice to see Jake pitch well for once, but it's no coincidence that since most of the pitchers in the bullpen have been figured out or realized the reason why they were cast away from their previous team was because they were bad, that things took a turn for the worst. Also, losing Everth Cabrera was a buzzkill.

All the Padres can do is get all the pegs from where ever, whether they are from the system or off the waiver wire, and plug them in to the circle holes and see which ones are square and which ones are circle. Disappointing, but it was expected.

Yup after a nice start, reality set in and we now realize the Padres are still the Padres.

Is their a worse hitter with the bases loaded than Kevin Kouzmanoff?

Once again in a 1-1 ball game, bases loaded and one out, and he hits a routine ground ball for an inning ending double play.

He used it all up on his first ML AB. I'm sure you've heard the story since they tell it EVERY TIME he comes to the plate with bases loaded.

I was really looking forward to see how he developed this season.

Well, I can't wait until he's back and healthy, since they will still need to keep him on the roster. I don't think he'll be starting immediately, but I do expect if he still shows he can hang with major league hitting, he'll be around for awhile.

As for Kouzmanoff, I would think Giles has been worst, but both of them are rally-killers in prime offensive positions. Both players IMO should be traded away, I don't care for what. Plug Headley back at third, call up Venable and have him play RF or whatever, and have Hairston play LF.

Kouzmanoff has probably been the most frustrating player to have at the plate with runners on. It's like we never traded Khalil Greene away, only moved him to third.

It's too bad the hall of fame doesn't care about starting a career with the best AVG, SLG, and OPS possible.

For all the hype around his offense from the minors, the detractors were right so far. No patience, swings at anything, mediocre-to-poor offensive production. Disappointing.
