Hawks head into the Circus trip at a hugely disappointing 4-9-0 on the season looking up at the entire Western Conference. "There is too much talent on this team for where we are at, we might have to look at ourselves, meaning myself and the coaching staff, and figure out what's wrong" Coach Q said after the latest loss. This is it in my opinion, if this trip is a disaster then we might see a lot more young guys making an appearance in this lineup as this season could be a wash.... too early you say? I don't think so, Nashville is already off to a great start in the Central, and the West is always tough, a sub .500 road trip could put the Hawks in a huge hole at the 20 game mark.

What do you guys think will happen on this road trip? Will the Hawks respond North of the border, or are they in trouble. "Vote" below...

How many points will the Hawks have on the Circus Trip with 12 up for grabs?
A: 0 - 2 points
B: 3 - 4 points
C: 5 - 7 points
D: 8 - 10 points
E: All 12 points!

I'll be honest with you, at this point, given the start, I think a minimum of 8 points is needed, so 4-2 on this trip...stay tuned readers, if you're out there

I'm satisfied with the point in this game. We've played a lot of games recently, and to go into their building with Machovsky facing Lundqvist I'll take it. It still sucks to blow a two goal lead.

Spang's shot from the point deflected off a defender in front and past Niemi for the win. Had a nice write up and pictures for the game, but thanks to EA and my computer freezing lost it all, so enjoy the box score only.

I feel 100% better now with our top six, and I love the fact that we get a scoring, physical, power forward in Landeskog, makes that line much more dynamic. Boyce, who is very young still gets to move to wing from center, thus allowing him to focus more on scoring than the defensive side of things given the fact that he is a true sniper. Ritchie, who has had a great start to the season (9 G in 18 games) will move down to the third line and play center. He is tremendously gifted when it comes to the defensive side of the game and he should excel in that role as the shut down line against other teams top units. Depending on how this year goes, these recent deals might just be a precursor to something bigger involving Kane. I expect to keep him, but the thought of having Landeskog playing the 1st line and Ritchie playing the second line makes much more sense to me, than to have Kane at $11MM per year on the top line. Depending on what are needs are he might be moved, but nothing is set in stone, but as you have seen no one is safe from being moved. Thanks for following.

Late night BREAKING NEWS!! A major shakeup has taken place on the West Side of Chicago.
Multiple sources are reporting that the Hawks have had a blow up, and players are on their way out of town, rumor has it that this has been in the making since the playoffs last year. Just waiting for confirmation from the Hawks.

Acquire
G - Antti Niemi (35 years old, 90 overall, 2 years remaining on his deal, $4,795 cap hit)

Acquire
D - Ola Lindstrom (21 years old, 81 overall, 1 year remaining on deal)
D - Joshua Smith (24 years old, 80 overall, 2 years remaining on deal)
G - Eugene Pecker (21 years old, 71 overall, 3 years remaining on deal)

Details:

San Jose has been in discussion with us over the past two weeks in regards to Niemi. The original asking price from San Jose was D - Nick Leddy. It was intriguing to think about, but in the end I wanted to stand pat with Markstrom and our defense. Things have changed, especially with the goaltending as it has become clear we cannot trust Markstrom to carry us to where we want to go. He is a good goalie, he just doesn't have the playoff experience, and has been struggling behind a 100 rated defense. In the deal we move two defensive prospects, both guys were not playing, and not expected to crack our lineup. But the Sharks needed defensive depth, and Lindstrom steps right into their lineup. We may have overpaid for an aging goalie, but we love his experience in the playoffs and big games, and feel that he has enough left in the tank at 35 to help this team win again.

Acquire
RW - Gabriel Landeskog (25 years old, 89 overall, 2 years remaining on deal)

Acquire
G -Jacob Markstrom (28 years old, 90 overall, 1 year remaining on deal)
2019 - 1st Round Pick

Details:
Huge move for us. We acquire a true top 6 RW which we have not had here since Marian Hossa. This allows us to move Ritchie down to the third line and become the center for that line. Overall it gives us a much better balance throughout the lineup. Two reasons for the deal, Markstrom has been bad, not just iffy, but really bad, and we can't wait around for him to figure it out. The second reason is we are already starting to see the same issues pop up as we did last year in regards to the scoring. One minute it is there, the next it's gone, and we can't afford to have that happen down the stretch again. We are a pro active group, if we see something that needs to be improved we are going to act on it, and we have done so today. Colorado was the perfect fit as they have a surplus of offensive talent and were looking for a goalie as they are relying on two young guys no better than an 84 in the net.

New lines coming....
