Western Conference Quarter Finals

Oilers are high powered for sure, but really clutch in this series as well, they are dangerous.

Western Conference Quarter Finals

A really good effort from the boys, especially on the defensive side. Series was way closer than 4-0, as the first two games were decided in OT, and game 3 was tied at 2 with 10 minutes left in the third. Really like the way this team is set up at this point with Colorado losing, gives us home ice all the way to the Cup if we can make it that far. As long as the defense continues what it has been doing all year, and the offense doesn't go back into hibernation, we might just do that. Off to the surgeon's office, continuing the updates when I get back, thanks for following!

I apologize for the lack of updates during the season, by computer seriously s**t the bed, and I was losing updates in the middle of posting them and it was getting aggravating to say the least. The playoffs are all set, and there are some new faces in the Western Conference looking to make a push. As far as the Hawks go, a very weird season, up and down all year. The one thing that remained consistent was the defense and goaltending, it was solid all year. The odd thing about the year is the offense disappeared for long stretches. It was a head scratcher as the team we built should have no issues with scoring. Seemed like when the top 6 was going good everyone was contributing, but when they hit the skids there was no secondary scoring. As the deadline came and went, we didn't make any moves, the thought was to possibly acquire a goal scoring RW, but the asking price seemed way to high for us. We will see how it goes, thanks to a weaker than normal division this year we were able to secure the top spot in the Central with 99 points. Home ice is important for us, hopefully we can make use of it on another run to the Cup. Thanks again for following, and sorry for the delay's.

Remember, these ranking reflect the job the general manager is doing, not necessarily based on record, although it is factored in. Thanks for following!

To say I was concerned at the start of the season would be an understatement. The season started with a nine game road trip, if that wasn't bad enough, we started 0-4, being outscored 15-4. The nine game road trip finished at 3-6, and that's when I made some changes. Leddy and Leonov were paired back together as it was clear that we needed some help on the back end, and the current pairings weren't getting it done. I also swapped Jensen for Ritchie on the 2nd line and on the power play, that seems to have worked out pretty well. Since that opening road trip we are 21-7-3, not too bad at all. Hopefully we can continue at that pace because I think if we get into the top 3 spots in the West that we will have a great chance at the Cup. This team is statistically better than the last three that went to the finals. Thanks again for following everyone, I really appreciate it!

WESTERN CONFERENCE STAT BLAST

For the first time in what seems like forever, the Central Division looks weak. This is a perfect opportunity to take advantage of this and make sure we get home ice in at least the first two round, and maybe more.

**BREAKING NEWS**

A number of sources are now reporting that the Chicago Blackhawks are about to announce "multiple deals" now that free agency is open.... see below for details...

Acquire
LW - Brandon Saad (77)
D - Dillion Fournier (79)

Acquire
2018 - 3rd Round Draft Pick
2018 - 4th Round Draft Pick

Quick Hit -
A deal that really had to be done, basically because our roster is full. That is a good thing and a bad thing, the good is that our AHL squad is made up entirely of our draft picks, no AHL contracts to anyone outside of the origan-I-zation. The bad is that we have guys that we want to sign to entry levels but can't because we are full. So Saad, and Fournier will be moved to open some space, and Calgary is a team that will utilize both guys.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Acquire
RW - Brian Connolly (85)
G - Timo Niemi (84)

Acquire
G - Jacob Markstrom (89)

Quick Hit -
Really thrilled with this deal, why? I'll tell you. It's a fair trade, for both teams. Connolly got second line minutes last year and was only able to put up 30 points. Niemi played really well for us, he's young, but I think he is just a couple years away, and I don't know how much more he will improve. Coming back to us is a goalie that I think will do an adequate job of replacing Crawford right now. Based on what our lineup is going to look like with Connolly gone, I didn't feel comfortable with throwing Niemi to the wolves behind a young group of forwards. With Markstrom, I think we can compete right away, while our young talent gets a couple years to get better. Markstrom has 3 years remaining on his deal, and is 3 years younger than Crawford. Seems like a win-win for me at this point. Thanks for following, massive prospect report is on deck.
