They're bating a solid 0.00 with these last two franchise video's. Hopefully the one on Thursday will be some what impressive and bump that average to a 3.33.

Is that batting average, or ERA?

In a batting average sense, I'd say they have had several plate appearances but no official at-bats. They've walked, been hit by a pitch, had a sac fly and bunt, reached base on catcher's obstruction, and after one strike in an at-bat they injured themselves and their substitute struck out. So, still 0-for-0... which in math is an indeterminate, if you will.

Give them a chance to show what all of the quirks entail, and anything else they haven't mentioned in this video that is still hidden beneath the surface. I am very intrigued to find out if they added any historical statistics like countryboy alluded to.

I also agree that I would like to see a more immersive franchise experience of course. For me the ball physics, updated animations, Humanity AI, Stat Tracking, Presentation, more brands, Sounds of The Show slots and Player model upgrades are more than enough for me this year..All these things should add to the Franchise mode this year alone!
Really, ball physics alone made me happy about my pre-order. It's the kind of thing that probably should have been improved long ago but better late than never. Everything else is just gravy.

Pressure's on for the team to make more sweeping improvements next year however. I don't see them making another change to gameplay as consequential as the improved ball physics in one cycle (I'm not even sure what they'd need to target) so fan service might be in order if they don't want to see people skipping a year or two after this release.

Well they failed to please this baseball enthusiast

Being firmly in the "limited time to play" camp these features are definitely nice to see. The only way I got through a season in '16 was to play a game with quick counts and then sim 5-6 games, it was fun but it definitely takes away a lot of the immersion. I've really wanted a good manage mode, similar to what you see in OOTP, this looks pretty good. The only thing I'm afraid of is pitch counts. I forget what year it was, but super sim in Madden had no idea how to use a play clock and you ran WAY too many plays, I'm afraid of Manage Mode not giving us a realistic number of pitches. Jumping into a a crucial 8th inning at bat only to see the starter has 65 pitches will be a killer for me.

There has to be more, right? Like so far there isn't enough content to warrant a deep dive

Would still bring you into the game more than just seeing the text simulation.

Maybe something to add next year if it isn't already in or too hard to do. Either way I definitely like the critical moments idea and think it's something that can be really expanded upon over the next couple of years.
I'm very excited about it because I think it's a key bit of programming within the sim engine, that can hopefully lead to the implementation of a weekly highlight show, or live look-in presentation element. The foundation seems to be there with critical situations.

that's a great point Slab. IMO this is only the tip of the iceberg for this feature. It's a first year iteration. If it goes smoothly I can definitely see them adding those and other features to the game. A weekly highlight show or live look-in would be outstanding to have as an option. Maybe even someone that hits 3 home runs off a pitcher one year, and in a game the following year (or later that year) against the same pitcher they could do a quick recap of what happened the previous year showing 3 quick highlights of the home runs. Or maybe you break a record or hit a milestone against a specific pitcher, then next time you face him they reference it through a quick highlight.

The possibilities are seemingly endless.

Yes.....agree 100%!! I will also throw in my annual hope for extended boxscore stats.

It would make sense they have a better historical statistics tracking because with the new ways to get through seasons faster, it would behoove them to implement more historical stat tracking, awards, championships. It'd be a shame to have us play more seasons with the new features, but not be able to go back and see historically what happened.

I doubt this will be the case. They have been using Sportcast Manager for years and pitch counts as well as pulling SPs has been pretty realistic. I wouldn't worry too much about it. I think it will function very well.

I do wonder, however, if these would require loading everything for a new environment (stadium, players, jerseys, etc.). The situation itself probably takes the least to load, especially since it's assumed they have already loaded the situation in the background (which prompted the critical moment).

Don't know if it can be done too quickly is all.

Hope for the best but expect the worst.

As someone who has only dabbled in Franchise I doubt we see many more details tomorrow. There will probably be a few tidbits but anything major would have been included, at least in my opinion.

Which is disappointing. I mean honestly quick manage is a huge plus for me and I like the idea of the Quirks, but after seeing so many other great things I guess I was hoping they invested more time into franchise mode.

I guess they can only utilize so many resources every year. If I owned a Ferrari, someone might assume I am rich... but little would you know that is what I spent every dime on that I have earned in my life. Finitism, folks. Time and money.

Though we are likely not going to see something like stadium creation this year, they still could have added dozens of little things. You won't see the new grass colors as something on the back of the box, but it's a very much welcomed improvement in my eyes and makes a world of difference for sure. The same can be said for many other franchise items of note they will hopefully include tomorrow.

Yeah it was probably more of just a dumb expectation since NHL, NBA and Madden all of that feature in now.

Double play turn was BS. No way the 2B gets that much heat on that throw.

I do wonder if it could be possible.

Let's say you play Critical Moments for all 30 teams throughout the week. Is there a way we can see those Critical Moments saved under the hood, then turned into a Highlight show?
