well, I'm just going off of assumption that it will be in the game....

I have a hunch that maybe this year, they recorded booth lines together! My reason being back in December, Matt V took off a while to do work for the show, since there's mlbn presentation, I bet they had Matt and the two new guys recorde together in mlbn studios, just a guess.

Just started playing madden 17 and that was the first thing I noticed. The commentators having realistic dialogue with each other, doesn't sound scripted at all. Makes a huge difference IMO, really immersive.

Well it did slip out that Harold Reynolds was recording lines for "a video game". If I remember correctly though, Matt was there during that time that Harold was recording. So I wouldn't jump to that conclusion. Funny thing is when it was mentioned neither Harold or Matt said anything and just ignored the comment. I'm pretty positive that Harold is one of the new commentators. If I were guessing I would say that the other new commentator is John Smoltz, just a gut feeling.

As far as commentary goes, I would just like for it to not sound like they are recording it at different times. It never had much fluidity with it.

I hope you're wrong, because it needs to be done together to make it really good. I know they worked hard with Matt to get more excitement out of him, and to sound more like his tv self, guess we'll hear some on March 2.

I agree, It definitely needs to be done together. However, if they start recording it differently the commentary will sound just as bad with them adding the newly recorded lines to the older lines.

This is why I think it would be so much easier to have a 2-man booth.
Maybe even have 2 sets of 2-man booths so as to have 4 commentary guys instead of 3.

Haha you can't start out a sentence saying "not to be negative but..." And then have your own idea about something without any proof if what you just stated. We haven't even seen yet what they've done with commentary this year. At least hold off until the game actually releases

So it's been confirmed that commentary has been changed for this year.

Retro is new.

You were saying?

Yeah, I figure that will be the case for the vast majority for those of us who have been playing the Show for years, but for younger children and extremely casual gamers who dont have the time to learn all the nuances of a game as complex as the Show, this is an excellent way to bring them into the fold and increase an already too limited budget by Sony for the Show, thereby actually able to increase resources for other things the rest of us care about.

They mentioned in the first stream that retro mode was created in two days. Retro mode doesn't really appeal to me, but I have no problem with it since it took minimal time to implement.

From the looks of everything we know at this point, they have made significant improvements in many aspects of the game this year.

The team says this was something they wanted to do for a long time and with Junior on the cover, got a chance to do it...based on what I've heard the devs say about it, it didn't take long to work on and implement.

Also...I think it's a great idea to get kids playing the game. I loved those old games and it really helped me get into baseball as it had simple mechanics which the "normal" mode of The Show doesn't offer. I definitely support it.

Retro mode was created within a week according the stream. It's not like they dedicated a lot of time and resources in creating it.

I doubt they carry retro mode into future editions of the show. This year is special with Griffey on the cover. They devs wanted some throwback feature.

Nah. They're not creating a new mode for one year that a lot of people will like just to toss it aside after one year. That's a silly thought, honestly. It would be sacrelige for the devs to spend their time on something like that.

As the posters above me mentioned, it took them 2 days to create this mode. It didn't take an entire development cycle.

And it wouldn't make sense to have a Retro Mode when the cover athlete is a Current Day player.
