I don't think they will ever get rid of Matt. Which I am fine with. They have spent so much time and effort, especially on OS, to build up the name files in this game. If they cut Matt loose they would have to start over and that would be a shame. There are a lot of us on here that have their names in this game solely because of the Developers presence on these forums and I would hate to loose that.
The only problem is I don't think either Heidi or Lauren are booth commentators tho so it wouldn't seem very authentic to an actual broadcast. They're great in the studio, however, and they probably would be just as good in the booth if given the chance, but I would think they'd have to make the transition in real life first before being added to the booth in The Show.

Do you mean as an analyst or a color commentary person?

I think I would be disappointed if they included a female color commentator. The problem for me is that for the majority of MLB teams, it would not sound like the real thing. I know of two female announcers in baseball, one local and one national (and that's only because Schilling got in trouble). That's out of the hundreds of radio and TV guys. In the video game simulation of baseball, you can only have one commentary team. And the typical commentary team consists of a deep voiced traditional broadcaster and a color guy who may be a former player and/or a more jock type.

I think that if they include female announcers or players in the game, they are leading with what they think reality should be rather than simulating a real life sport as it is.

I was kind of thinking something new. Sorry I did not me solely in the "booth" I meant more of along the lines as part of the team. Like an on field reporter. Several teams/Broadcast use women in this role. The Nationals had one for a while, I can't remember her name right now. But she was a lot of fun and really knowledgeable about the game and players.

I dont know if she still does it because I did not follow Boston at all last year, but Heidi Watney was the old field reporter for them for a while.

Sideline reporters and pre- and post-game analysts would be very realistic. And that's something that's missing from The Show that would be a big improvement.

I play NBA 2K and I might hear lines over again but they don't annoy me on the same level The Show does because the lines actually make sense, are relevant, and are things real commentators would say.

A good 70-80% of the lines used by commentators in The Show would never actually be said in real life by any baseball booth during any MLB baseball game. Many of the lines are nonsense generalizations, and sound like something a person would cluelessly say when watching baseball for like the first time.
I had said I think they need to add more lines and context. I think that addresses your concerns. I disagree about IRL. There are many lines that are said IRL broadcasts throughout this game. Unless SCEA is able to have MAtt V and whomever else in the booth in SCEA studio each week of season, there are going to be repetitive lines. In 2k, I am sick of hearing about how much Blake Griffin is a cancer in the locker room. Those lines have been in the game for a couple years and are repeated every single game played as Clippers. I get what you're saying but 2k has same problem.

FWIW, if it is to be an MLB Network package and the amount of letters bleeped out as ****** ******* and *** ***** actually do indicate the amount of letters in the names (they may have only realized after the fact how easily OS would inevitably decipher this and are now trying to divert, lol), the only fits that I see on the MLB Network website are Lauren Shehadi and Dan O'Dowd. Not sure what to make of that, if anything. That might not mean anything per Ramone's tweet that the amount of bleeped out letters are meaningless. It does seem slightly odd that they'd randomly pick a 6 letter/7 letter name and a 3 letter/5 letter name as opposed to simply not using stars at all. Unless, of course, they got a kick out of trolling. For all the abuse they take, I certainly wouldn't mind!

Another 6 letter/7 letter name they're already using for the radio show is Justin Allegri, but it wouldn't really make sense to take him off the radio show and put him in "in the booth" with another pbp guy in Vasgersian.

Anyway, if Shehadi and O'Dowd are the new additions, it might mean that Lyons and Karros are staying in the booth and they've added a studio show of some kind ala the NCAA Football series with Rece Davis and David Pollack. However, if they did simply add a studio show and without replacing any commentators, the text on the release schedule about "join the booth..." wouldn't really make sense.

I feel like replacing both Steve Lyons and Eric Karros, as little as they added, with brand new talent in a single dev cycle would be pretty hardcore. You'd imagine they'd need more time to build up enough lines for adding a new voice (or two) to the booth. So, either they went hardcore and knocked it out in a few months, or they've been working on it for much longer, or the number of lines might end up being pretty limited for the new talent.
If they put Lauren in the game (not just her lovely voice, but her beautiful face as well) I'll buy three copies and post pictures on OS lol.

The commentary is problematic when it comes to those who play season only..After 10 games you hear the repeating..

As I said before, there's only so many lines they can record but I feel the show has the biggest problem of repetition in the sports gameso that I play... the same lines get said in certain situations every time, there needs to be a bit more variety then they currently have

Mitch Williams doesn't work for MLB Network anymore if I'm not mistaken. Just putting that out there.

I have a dream that one day the Show will have 3 or 4 commentary teams to choose from.
That would help cut down on the hearing of the inevitable repeated lines.

Didn't Madden do that? Mix up the commentators so it is a bit different game to game with various combos? That's what I was thinking might happen here if it isn't my pre/post/launchpad theory.

Obviously after the "final build" they continue to work on the game which is why there are updates.

No, they will not have a "gold" version until the very last minute. Like last year, each stream they used a work in progress, some features disabled completely, some things not working yet, settings not optimized, etc.

Minor thing for some but for me I'd really like to get the player lock available on the normal camera also.

I don't know why that hasn't been an option anyway

Lauren Shehadi is gorgeous that's for sure

But seriously though MLB The Show really could use a female commentator for Studio shows and or Sideline reporter!

Plus who knows maybe it would bring more female gamers in

And like you said while having her sexy voice in the game would be great but having her real face like EA Sports does with NHL or even a virtual character like what NBA2K has would be awesome.

Maybe someday

Buck Martinez would be a wonderful addition to MLB The Show he has a very unique voice that stands out in a good way! I used to play a baseball game years ago where he was in the game was it MVP Baseball or Triple Play or perhaps both?

But I also think we can all agree it really does not matter which commentators Sony adds to the game if it is still going to sound like each commentator recorded their lines separately at different times like it does now for the most part.

I don't know how they do it but 2KSports games for years now sound like a real broadcast for baseball and basketball where as MLB The Show while better in 16 still sounds to much like a video game broadcast.

You guys know what I mean?
