Madden NFL 17 News Post


Another Madden NFL 17 title update is available now for Playstation 4 and Xbox One. The update includes gameplay, Madden Ultimate Team and commentary updates based on feedback from the community.

Gameplay
  • Adressed some RAC catch animations that were incorrectly triggering drops in certain situations.
  • Addressed certain situations where Ice the Kicker was not triggering even though conditions were met.
  • Fixed issue where catching a missed field goal in the end zone caused the position of the
  • ball and the direction of play from the field goal play to be used in the play following the turnover.
  • Addressed certain instances of defenders travelling across the field when the defensive play is flipped, instead of switching assignments.
  • Fixed issue where receivers were getting a speed boost by timing the snap with motioning.
  • Fixed several fatigue issues related to weather/temperature penalties for the Away team.
  • Fixed an issue where using the give up mechanic after recovering a fumble would cause the player to fumble again.
  • Fixed an issue where users could consistently place the ball in the coffin corner on a kickoff with an inaccurate kick.
  • Fixed an issue in 3-4 Under where safety was taking himself out of the play vs. outside runs.
  • Fixed a rare issue where the QB would pass the ball backwards when attempting to throw while crossing the LOS.
  • Fixed an issue where user could ice their own kicker when calling a time out during a field goal attempt.
  • Fixed an issue where a successful fake FG run would result in the player being called out of bounds.
  • Fixed an issue where player icons were displaying ‘grey’ color for fatigue on the play call screen.
  • Fixed an issue where the ball would rarely hit the FB when running HB Lead toss out of I Form Tight.
  • Fixed an issue where the wind direction arrow was backwards in CFM.
  • Fixed an issue where increasing the fumble slider was not causing more fumbles.
  • Fixed an issue where Defenders were not always being credited with a Sack and Forced fumble in the Stats screen when causing a sack-fumble.
Madden Ultimate Team
  • Added MUT Head-to-Head Seasons.
  • Added Super Bowl presentation to appropriate MUT Head-to-Head games.
  • Added the ability to give rewards after each MUT Head-to-Head game rather than waiting
  • until the Event is over.
  • Added additional logic to tell how many items you have available to add to a particular set.
Commentary
  • New lines and logic added for post PAT scenarios. This is previously a spot in the game
  • where we had no commentary.
  • New/additional names added for RB’s, QB’s,Kickers/Punters, and WR’s.
  • New postplay analysis from the team for various different situations.
  • Refreshed common touchdown analysis lines, and added additional logic and lines to fire
  • new situational commentary.
  • Hundreds of new lines added to Play the Moment to provide more variety during return to
  • game scenarios.
  • Legends names added.
  • Numerous tuning changes based on common line telemetry.
Stability
  • Various stability fixes in all modes including Franchise and Madden Ultimate Team.

Yesterday I tired this in a full game and while I agree that LB/L1 can lead to more inaccuracies most force the WR to stretch for the ball but still get it or dropped.

Nothing close to what CPU QB does that miss WR for 5 yds sometimes.

I tried to hit the ground on purpose and as strange as it sound it was really really difficult to achieve unless you throw the ball away.

Hopefully they fix at least the QB acc slider so we can get back the overthrows for those who want them.


Here are two games I played against bad QB. Like I said on default I'm seeing CPU QB missing constantly.

Kaep and geno are bad QB and they played like that.

While Palmer number are not as bad since he is in the 65-70 IRL. None of the 65 att were overthrows. Inc were dropped deflected or inc because hit or throw the ball away.

If I play with kaep or geno I can get the same numbers as Palmer has.

I'm going to do something that is somewhat atypical in Madden threads of late. I'm going to talk about the good things that I personally am experiencing post Update after playing several games.

I'm not seeing that stumble out of bounds catch animation on the sideline anymore. That is huge because now so many drives have chance to be extended instead of just being an instant fail.

In the same vein, players can turn up the field better on the sideline now instead of going out of bounds all the time.

With my front 4 my CPU controlled guys are getting to the passer more and the lineman I am controlling is getting to the passer less. There is more balance now in who is applying the pressure.

I am using generic playbooks for all teams, so I don't know if this is a part of it, but there aren't as many instant throwaways by the CPU. I'm getting more hits on them and they are trying to complete more passes against pressure.

Along those lines, I feel like the sack fumble has been turned back up some, it's not where it was a launch, but it is better than it was before this update. Also it is so nice now to have the sack fumbles counted in the stats finally.

With the DB slide glitch fixed, I like the way coverage plays now. Guys can get open, but they aren't totally wide open like they were before. I'm getting hit and sacked a lot more than I'm use to as well. It's great.

Receivers for me and the CPU are actually dropping passes now, not in a glitchy way, just normal drops. It's balanced now instead too many like at launch and then none after most of the updates.

I'm on All-Madden adjusted slider for what it's worth.

I've seen some drops by cpu receivers as well. Just blatant ones where there was no contact. In 6-7 games seems about right for what I see on Sunday.

I have had better luck rushing the qb but most sacks are still coverage sacks where he holds it too long. On jail break blitzes the cpu qb almost always throws it out of bounds still though.

I have also noticed the cpu coverage is better but in a fair way. As stated above I too have taken sacks due to coverage. I don't recall this happening before. Running has been harder at times too. Not sure stats are accurate but I've been having some great competetive games against cpu.

Honestly I've been experiencing varied qb accuracy games too. But I think I've seen good qbs have 60-70 percent. But in season 2 Fitzpatrick is bears qb and he was only like 5-13 in entire game for 70-80 yards against me. I felt I should adjust sliders but 2-3 games prior cp qbs had 250-300 yds so either Fitzpatrick stinks or bears offense stinks. Or maybe games are all going to vary.

I kinda like the patch except what it didn't fix.

Agree for the most part. However I saw the db glitch tonight post patch. Playing man vs a curl route. Definitely sporadic though. Does not always happen.

I am trying to run single player franchise online and when I try to perform the practice session, it begins to load and then boots me out of the game entirely. Is this a known issue? Anyone else experience it?

Clint replied that they are looking at the QB acc slider, so, that give me some hope this can get fix it.

He did confirm 2 weeks ago they were looking into it.

I guess it's good to keep after them.

After playing many more offline CFM games I can say other than the CPU punting into 9MPH + wind issue and Human QB accuracy slider not being nearly as effective as at launch, I am very happy with the gameplay.

Of course I want better AI overall vs the CPU (a long standing legacy thing) and the continiued development of making franchise mode deeper and better. But overall this is the best playing Madden game.

Hopefully they can address those two main issues in the next update and we can have a pretty awesome Madden.

I am playing Madden 17 as much as I did Madden 16 so kudos to Tiburon for making another really fun game this year.

Agreed.

I think Madden 16 was the best in the series. Ever. IMO it was the first big step in the franchise. Madden 17, is better.

Is there any confirmation about whether or not this patch messes with sim stats or the HUM run game? I saw a post a while back to that effect but have not seen much followup analysis on sim stats post-patch.

I have the game playing pretty much the way I want it to for my style of play through player rating adjustments and sliders. It's not perfect. But as close as I can get it as far as game play and stats. The only game play issues I have is the kicking game, Punting and the long FG attempts that the CPU has no chance of making and I am sure everyone is aware of. I still believe that is a wind issue but nothing we can do about it until the patch. Once that comes out and fixes the issues, I think it will be an awesome game.

I am still having one issue that I can't fix. In PLAY OF THE MOMENT, on occasion I still get the freeze after a score or FG. Last night with 1.38 seconds left in the game I tied Cinn. With a FG, 16 to 16. At that point, everything keeps moving but it won't advance to the next play, they line up for the kick and then it just stops. I can't exit, nothing works, all I can do is close application, then when it tries to reload, I get the blue screen and Error code.

I was just wondering if anyone else is getting this. It seems to happen when I use an edited GP, edit uniforms, At least that's when I have noticed it. If anyone else is having this issue, I sure would like to know it. Something has to be causing it. I don't want to believe that it's the GP or uniforms because many other people use them without issues. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Any posts I've seen about post patch sim stats have been inflammatory and with little substance.

I didn't experience any with this patch released to the running game stats.

This was the sense I got. I felt like the thread turned into a version of Chicken Little's story, which is not surprising.

I wanted to see if the sky really was falling or not, and I haven't seen much in the way of hard evidence.
