This and a Czar blog - if they happen this week will be the best part for me. More so than Prelude (personal preference).

I hope the forced hesitation/stutter step animation after competing a dribble move is removed.

I can do a basic cross over and shake my defender and as I attack the open floor I'm forced into a hesitation I didn't attempt.

Also passing under the basket needs some looking into.. The ball is always hitting the backboard by a bad animation on a pass from under the rim to the corner.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, Mike, but can you confirm Steve Nash no longer being in the game for the Classic SUns and Mavs?

This would be a crushing blow to all us retro 2k ballers.

So if you beat your defender and have a wide open lane or are finishing off a fastbreak layup with no one around, you’re not going to brick the shot even if you completely ignore the timing feature. You still have to take good shots with the right guys to be successful.
All this means is that you don't have to get perfect timing on lay ups to actually make them.

You'll still miss wide open shots. Just as players in the real NBA do every single game.

Even if you can't choose them prior to the game there is an easier menu instead of having to tab over all those pages. I believe Mike said it himself that you can bring up a directional menu and quickly flick the RS toward the freelance you wish to use.

Hi Mike,
Will fake pass while driving for a layup a la Magic and Rondo to get the defender to bite be in the game? This would be really helpful and more importantly like real basketball. I've read that it's in 2K16 and previous versions, but it's the one thing I've never been able to pull off, if it was really in.

Thanks

If a player goes hot or cold should SOLELY be dependent on the user's play and decisions, not some goofy random algorithm that chooses for them.
That was a pain in PNO. I don't mind it, but I swear it was a guarantee that Paul George was going to be cold to start the half no matter how well he performed in the first half.

Beluba, hopefully your still responding to this thread. Any chance relative shooting controls get patched in?

And I'm mystified that I'm the only one that has a problem with no relative shooting controls.

If you mean having Aim be towards the rim as opposed to straight down/up, I don't think we'll patch that in. It really just felt random and encouraged people to only shoot from certain spots on the floor (usually corners or top of the arc.)

Hey Mike I posed this Q a few days ago: does the ability to grab/hold away from the ball mean hack-Shaq is possible in theory, and if so are the NBA rules for that strategy built in to the game?

Thanks again for dropping back in.

You're already above and beyond the call, but if you can get at some point to any of the Q's that followed shortly after your last response, there were a few.

Mike, not sure if I should be asking you or Czar this, but does the CPU roll the ball up court if their out of timeouts and can't advance the ball?

Has anything be done to late game A.I?

For instance, sideline out of bounds down two with not much time on the clock for a quick isolation or catch & shoot, will they lob towards the basket?

Is five second inbound violation called against the A.I this year?

I don't know but you would think so with the addition of advanced rotations.

Advanced rotations is purely a MyLeague feature. Also, I'm not sure they havet said if CPU AI will use it.

That is what I meant. I can only assume there are differences in aiming a shot and isomotion, as relative controls for isomotion work fine.

Is the old shooting mechanic an option? If not, can that be patched in?

This seems like a very odd choice considering those of us that use relative controls for isomotion. I find aiming in directions not consistent with what I see on screen to be disconcerting. Constantly swapping between relative controls for isomotion and absolute controls for shooting doesn't sound like fun.

This will be the first year in many that 2K is not a day-one purchase for me. I'll have to test this out prior to buying.

But you're saying it's not a day one purchase for you and you need to test the controls. What better way to test than with the Prelude since it's free. I'm not much of a college ball fan either but I want to see how the game feels.

I already don't enjoy college ball or MyCareer. I wouldn't want that to influence how I feel about the controls. I can wait.
