EA Sports UFC 2 News Post

Geoff Harrower, A.K.A. GameplayDevUFC, has been posting quite a few details on the upcoming EA Sports UFC 2 patch on his Twitter page. While no date for the patch has been revealed, he has posted quite a few nuggets. Check out some of them below and let us know what you think!
  • Added the ability to block when in any level of hit reaction to the legs or body. This should fix the "magic combo" issues.
  • Tuned AI transition denial success rate to be more dependent on grapple advantage
  • Increased stand up arm health damage taken when holding High Block by 20%
  • Reduced stand up arm health recovery when holding High Block by 20%
  • Fixed exploit that allowed fighters to hold their opponent in side saddle with little opportunity for escape
  • Added Grapple Advantage Meter which allows users to better understand grappling mechanics and timing
  • Improved AI takedown defense
  • Further AI stamina management tuning
  • Taunt with @BlessedMMA in the last 20 seconds of the round and have your opponent taunt back to end a round "The Holloway"

GPD reTweeted it, and MrScaryMuffin is our Ultimate Team dev. I think it is legit.

My money is on a Thursday release, or sometime before UFC 202.

Lots of people will be tuning in for UFC 202 so hopefully it'll be ready for then!

Wouldn't surprise me if it is today.

Interested to see what the AI tuning will be like. With the transition GA stuff on the ground + better stamina management, should be fun!

SKYNET probably has some cool stuff cooking

Me too. I'm gunna try the AI again and see what's different with them but the real prize is trying the new striking mechanics with "NO MAGIC COMBOS" in online ranked matches. Also the weak block nerf is gunna be interesting to see how that plays out.

With all the rumors floating around that it's going to be Will Brooks i sure hope I'm not disappointed.

Hope you are right Big Cee, but I was REALLY hoping for legends like Frye and company. GPD, can you possibly comment on whether or not Big John will get added at some point (if not for this game, UFC 3?). Not that big of a deal really, but was there a reason such as not being under contract that he was not included originally? Big John is an icon and I'd love to see him in the game!

Look at the confusion GA must have caused.

Just another reason it shouldn't be in the game!

I got a message when I started the game up saying that the servers will be down today from 6pm-6:30pm BST. I'm assuming that means the patch is coming today?

I hope the patch will be out today. Please.

Likely, but they also do that for UT. So it isn't 100%.

I wonder why fighters arent added to their new weightclasses. Cerrone at 170, Lombard 185 etc.

I feel like I sort of know the reason but I'll ask anyway.

Is there a reason the dev team doesn't just keep creating new fighters all the way up until the release of the new game?

New fighters are always coming up, and I thought I read somewhere that having them made in the last game makes it a lot easier to put them in the new game.

I know that everything comes at a price, and I don't mean to downplay how hard it is to create a fighter, but even if they transitioned this into paid DLC at some point in the cycle, I feel like there would be a market and demand for it.

It would keep the game fresh all the way up until the new release.

I always come at this from an offline gamers perspective, so keep that in mind as I ask this.

You have to have something to sell for the next game when it comes to the roster. There also comes a time when the entire team (including the art team) has to start focusing on the next game.

This is certainly part of it, but also at some point the process for creating a fighter will change.

Maybe not right away, but eventually there will be new art tech added, new animation requirements, new ratings, etc.

At that point adding fighters to the past game and the future game doubles the work.

That's what I figured and I agree completely with the latter point and generally with your first point.

But my counter would be, with the the size of the roster as is, and most of the main selling fighters already in, do the mid to lower teir fighters have more value and profitability being patched in as paid DLC or held off until the next game?

Poor Santos, but is he really selling UFC 3? Or better yet Jimmie Rivera, Abel Trujillo or Evan Dunham?

I bet some ppl would buy those last three in a pack for this game that were already going to plop down $60 for the next game, so isn't that easy money if you planned on putting them in UFC 3 anyway?
