Likely, but they also do that for UT. So it isn't 100%.

I wonder why fighters arent added to their new weightclasses. Cerrone at 170, Lombard 185 etc.

I feel like I sort of know the reason but I'll ask anyway.

Is there a reason the dev team doesn't just keep creating new fighters all the way up until the release of the new game?

New fighters are always coming up, and I thought I read somewhere that having them made in the last game makes it a lot easier to put them in the new game.

I know that everything comes at a price, and I don't mean to downplay how hard it is to create a fighter, but even if they transitioned this into paid DLC at some point in the cycle, I feel like there would be a market and demand for it.

It would keep the game fresh all the way up until the new release.

I always come at this from an offline gamers perspective, so keep that in mind as I ask this.

You have to have something to sell for the next game when it comes to the roster. There also comes a time when the entire team (including the art team) has to start focusing on the next game.

This is certainly part of it, but also at some point the process for creating a fighter will change.

Maybe not right away, but eventually there will be new art tech added, new animation requirements, new ratings, etc.

At that point adding fighters to the past game and the future game doubles the work.

That's what I figured and I agree completely with the latter point and generally with your first point.

But my counter would be, with the the size of the roster as is, and most of the main selling fighters already in, do the mid to lower teir fighters have more value and profitability being patched in as paid DLC or held off until the next game?

Poor Santos, but is he really selling UFC 3? Or better yet Jimmie Rivera, Abel Trujillo or Evan Dunham?

I bet some ppl would buy those last three in a pack for this game that were already going to plop down $60 for the next game, so isn't that easy money if you planned on putting them in UFC 3 anyway?

That's what I figured it was more than anything. I know there is a break even point.

Would it be fair to say that currently fighters are patched in up until the point that everyone transitions to the new game fully? And has there been any talk of extending the fighter patching process if it became paid DLC after a certain point (or at least experimenting with it)?

I'm not saying I want to pay for anything lol. But I probably would if it meant a fresh pipeline of fighters every month or so.
