EA Sports UFC 2 News Post


Geoff Harrower, A.K.A. GameplayDevUFC, has been posting quite a few details on the upcoming EA Sports UFC 2 patch on his Twitter page. While no date for the patch has been revealed, he has posted quite a few nuggets. Check out some of them below and let us know what you think!
  • Added the ability to block when in any level of hit reaction to the legs or body. This should fix the "magic combo" issues.
  • Tuned AI transition denial success rate to be more dependent on grapple advantage
  • Increased stand up arm health damage taken when holding High Block by 20%
  • Reduced stand up arm health recovery when holding High Block by 20%
  • Fixed exploit that allowed fighters to hold their opponent in side saddle with little opportunity for escape
  • Added Grapple Advantage Meter which allows users to better understand grappling mechanics and timing
  • Improved AI takedown defense
  • Further AI stamina management tuning
  • Taunt with @BlessedMMA in the last 20 seconds of the round and have your opponent taunt back to end a round "The Holloway"

Side Note: I'm sure everyone else feels the same way, but I appreciate this game getting so much love and attention to keep it balanced, fun and just up to date with more fighters.

Post release for UFC 1 and 2 have been amazing and i tip my hat to everyone on the UFC team. Good Job.

Gotta say, as a gamer myself, it's pretty cool to be on a team that has this much support and community involvement. From a studio as big as EA no less.

GPD's interaction with the community was what got me motivated and courageous enough to brave the forums as well.

Any chance of being able to squeeze in the ability to skip the scenes after winning by leg kick tko, or break your own single leg hold from side control to this patch? Lol

I don't think so. I'd love to, but we didn't account for taunts in UT so I can't figure out an easy way to add it.

We left room for new strikes and new takedowns, and that's how we got the slap and imanari roll in.

Anything else doesn't really fit the design unfortunately.

I'd love to though.

I feel there should be more Individual taunts for the next game and make taunts cards to get in packs in UT. Bronze cards can be basic ones like the normal generic taunt and gold ones can be advanced ones like the holloway/diaz taunts etc.

Also has your team experienced frostbite yet?

few questions about this:

Can you rock opponent in this state?

If yes, will FTF happen during this state and kill it

Can you finish the fight since there is no ground game?

Why couldnt this happen for KO mode something like this, but without the counter damage bonus and stamina drain??

Yes you can rock them...I think FTF is disabled in this state as well if I remember correctly.

The ground game still exists, just no takedowns.

You could still get tripped up by a leg kick or something like that.

KO mode was designed differently.

How does the Max Holloway taunt work for offline gameplay?

Offline against the CPU or couch play?

Couch play, it works the same as I described.

Against the AI...I'm almost 99% sure the AI won't do it. Maybe we can convince Skynet to fix that...

The question was for the CPU offline.

Ya it would be kind of nice if SKYNET can somehow add this to offline CPU gameplay. Not every fight but against a striker it would be nice to see them do that in the 3rd or 5th round of a fight.

It was just something we didn't have time to get in, and it's not a simple thing to just turn on.

As you said, you need logic to control frequency, making sure it's done with the right fighters only, etc.
