Madden NFL 17 News Post

EA Sports has detailed new additions to this year's franchise mode on their website.

The first blog post EA detailed a faster way to play franchise and new gameplanning features.

Play The Moments: Experience Franchise faster than ever. Jump into game-defining plays, drives and situations that matter to you, speeding up your experience and delivering more fun. For players who want to span their career the entire 30 years but are limited in time, Play the Moment will be your new way to play.

Quote:
"How does it work?

Before heading down to the field, choose between Play the Moments, Offense Only, Defense Only, or the Full Game. When you choose Play the Moments, the game will be simulated until it detects a key moment and then prompts you to jump right into the action. If you don’t want to play that particular moment, you can easily skip it. Choosing Offense Only or Defense Only before loading into the game allows you to easily play just one side of the ball.

You’ll be able to switch in and out of all the modes easily as you play your game. For example, you can start by playing the Full Game and then switch to Play the Moments at half-time once you have a sizable lead. It’s up to you on how you use it."
There will be different times you are called to 'play a moment'.

EA says that sometimes you will be prompted to play a full drive at the beginning of a game in order to get a lead early. In the last two minutes of a half you may be called upon to drive down the field and manage the clock and perhaps on defense you'll be called in on 3rd downs to get the ball back for your team. Really any 'big' moment of a game you can be called in on.

There will be a new sim speed feature which allows you to slow the game down and watch it unfold in real time during super-sim and during moments. This is an oft requested feature that is now being fulfilled.

Another big addition is that super-sim will now take into account quarter speed in order to try to deliver a game as close as possible to the 120 play-per-game NFL average as well.

Check out all of the new additions to 'Play the Moment' and Super-Sim on EA's site!

Now I'm sure this will be a focus at some point in the future, and I know that "relocation" also encompasses new stadiums which ARE very realistic and happen a lot more often than teams changing cities and/or names. I get that. I'm just talking about prioritizing and I think they're doing a pretty good job there.
Doesn't matter how often it happens in real life. In my life time multiple new teams have been added to the league and 5 plus relocations. I think that warrants a better relocation/ create a team system. The other thing is that I can play decades and it just isn't realistic that in 25 years either no team relocates or when they do the branding and jerseys don't match. I believe if one game can have it plus get everything else right EA can too.

Yeah, I'm a little worried that because the tweet he was responding to only said "nice vid" Rex might not realize that two blogs have already dropped. Would love for there to be more info coming...

Editing players-check, Practice Squad-check, in game ticker-check

There will always be more stuff to add. The changes made so far are all ones I wanted. I'm curious to find out if there is more.

The game planning feature sounds awesome. That would be awesome for an online league.

Overall I'm fully on board and happy about my $45 Amazon pre order.

I want to say wow they so far have hit a home run..this news alone with gameplay from 16 and upgrades has me sold..but I think we can all finally put away the rumor that the reason for full editor was due to "ed o'bannon" ruling ..I believe full editing was removed was due to "bugs"..which this hopefully means all bugs (example "big arms") have been removed and clean up..must say I'm a happy camper..day one buy

I feel like multiple implies more than two. But I definitely could be wrong.

Player editing basically allows you to edit draft classes after the fact.

So if you want you can throw in a few 6-3 safeties or 6-7 WRs, etc. Convert that 95 SPD QB to HB and give him a decent CAR rating.

Great, everyone has their pet features that they wish received priority. I'm just saying that I can see the logic behind putting this particular feature lower on the list. When they have limited resources to spend, and with so many base gameplay and structural franchise mode needs to attend to, I understand the choice they've made.

I am certain he is aware that the blogs have been released. His twitter feed must have lit up when it was.

We're human, we're greedy. We always want more. I think we need to consider the improvements made this year compared to other years. This year is HUGE in comparison.

The thing that hurts your argument is that games like NBA 2K16 exist and prove that all of these things can be done in the year 2016 (or in their case, 2015).

2k has been building off the same foundation for years now, this Madden team has had to rebuild from the the dark ages.

Actually, it doesn't. It does all come down to priority, timing and resources.

It wasn't a high priority on the wishlist.

This is what White said about changes to scouting and drafting

It's no secret that Madden is playing catch-up. That is just the reality of the situation. They can't add everything in one year. The guys who took over a couple years ago are delivering on everything they have promised.

You can't compare Madden to 2K. It's not a fair fight. 2K did not screw up a whole generation like Madden did.

All we can do is just be happy these guys are serious about taking Madden to a new level.

The third option, which has been a community request, lets you slow down the game so you can watch each play unfold on the field in live action using the broadcast camera.

That is from the CFM blog #1. Maybe cpu vs cpu is an option this year.

And it's that kind of mentality that holds games back from being great. It wasn't high on the 2k16 wishlist either, but they did it anyway. No one expected that kind of customization from them last year, but they did it and blew away everyone's expectations. EA hypes first and then brings us things like "big decisions" which will probably become an annoyance after a few weeks, rather than delivering on innovative features. Pretty simple to see the difference between the two.

I don't mean this to be a debate between 2K and EA, that's not my intention. I just think it's ridiculous to say that they "can't" do something that is already being done.

That's my point. Stop giving me gimmick festures like "big decisions" which probably won't be in the game next year.

Do you like having immersion in the game?
