MLB The Show 16 News Post

Alright, after many months of hard work, mostly by others not named me, we are very proud to announce the release of the 2016 OSFM HYBRID V1 - under psn - Crapinmyshoe

This year has been a special project as it was built around my son receiving his long awaited liver transplant and before I get into specifics about the roster, I would like to get thanks to our team, especially Waittilnextyear who engineered the majority of this year's edition, teeds who we also welcomed back into the fold and contributed many new faces as well as many quality control corrections, Cultbuscus who really got this thing back onto it's feet and basically gathered our team together this year, Totte who was our master of OD backdate as well as quality control, God of Nugget and Blobloblah who did a lot of the tedious work for us as well as the late Dr Illinios who managed to get himself banned from the site but still contributed.

If anyone is interested in making a donation towards the creation of this roster, I would appreciate donations made to Ronald McDonald House Toronto where I did the bulk of my work on the roster this year while my little guy recovered.

ROSTER DETAILS
  • This is a 40 man roster that contains the following edits;
  • Full roster rerate (no player untouched)
  • Pitch Edits from WTNY
  • OD roster for all MLB clubs and close for AAA and AA
  • No carry over stats for rookies except for Kyle Higashioka
  • New Faces and players added to the OSFM V1.5
  • Equipment edits where info was made available
  • Accurate Opening Day MLB lineups
  • Proper positioning according to Baseball Reference
  • So much more, you need to download and use it to believe
This roster is intended for 30 Team Control but can be played with Single Team.

You will not find another roster that plays as accurate to true life, I hate making claims like this but it is true.

Please rate the roster so non OS users will know it's worth, and most importantly enjoy it for what it is - a great baseball game roster.

WILLARD

1. No, there is no ratings guide. More than one attribute can affect the same stat (like homers) so it's not so simple.

2. The ratings are editable for anything that you disagree with.

Go to pending transactions and look at trade offers

These guys didn't make him an 89, the game did. They input his ratings based off of projections and whatever the player overall is then that's the way it is. The formula that The Show has for calculating overalls is the problem.

Edit: in my opinion, having an overall rating at all is the problem, but that's a subject for another discussion.

I have seen someone else say the the trades are instant this year, and there is no 3 day period for proposed trades, so if a bad trade goes through you will have to trade those players back. I would also suggest trade override being on, because some trades are not equal and if its not on, you wont be able to trade them back and cancel out trade

For whatever reason SCEA removed the 3 day grace period for trades. Trades are instant now unfortunately.

Great job guys!

1 thing I saw going through is Nomar Mazara of the Rangers at a 65 with B potential.

He's been the AL rookie of the month in both april and may

http://espn.go.com/mlb/player/_/id/32820/nomar-mazara

Then there's Byron Buxton at 80, and we all saw him struggle last year with his avg.

seems a bit of disparity in some of the prospect ratings, but that's what our edit buttons are for ^_^

The numbers come from projections before the season. They're not fluid. No one would've thought twice of Buxton at 80 and Mazara at 65 in March. It's just the way it worked out. There was no way of knowing otherwise.

Keep in mind projections are long-term tools. Any guy (especially a rookie with less scouting data on him) can go nuts for a 2 month period. It's only a matter of time before the league figures him out and his numbers stabilize. If you want exaggerated highs and lows, you can use the ratings from the Sony updates. They exaggerate these to help create a more fluid marketplace for their money-making microtransaction modes.

Also as for Buxton being an 80, you have to consider how his overall is being calculated. Both speed and defense play a large role in that number. Comparing the OVR of someone who plays CF with Buxton's skillset to Mazara isn't exactly an apt comparison.

It's not really a disparity, although as mentioned, no projection system is a real-life crystal ball. I agree on the edit button.

Does anyone know of a good roster that has Gerardo Concepcion left handed pitcher for the cubs? Or can someone please make him. Thank you

Jose Ramirez (Indians) needs to be rated much higher. Having a huge year with the bat and only a 71 overall in the last roster update. 2nd in WAR on the Indians behind only Lindor.....

Then change it, it won't be addressed here.

I'm not sure what the last Sony roster update has to do with this roster? Those 2 sets have nothing to do with one another.

Anyhow, as everyone else is figuring out, no amount of pleading will change a rating in this roster. There is a perfectly functional edit button on your game for that.

Hey guys ive seen a lot on negative comments in this thread and i really think a lot of them are uncalled for and dont contribute at all to the thread or development of this roster.

I just want to say i think this roster plays great im 23 games in w the nats and each player is playing pretty damn close to real life im loving it. Ive had zero isuues w raiting

I just want to say something i always think when ppl cry about a certain players rating. 1. Download the rosters as it is. 2. Change that raiting yourself. 3. Problem solved. 4. Use another roster if u still have issues.

Great job guys

Thanks for the comment and for laying out that ingenious 4-step plan. lol. Shocking that nobody thought of that before.

As for the negative comments, that is unavoidable. You can't please some people even if you edit a Joe Random into a circus seal doing backflips while eating a turkey sandwich. Someone will be there to say (thank God!) the texture of the turkey is a bit off and is broken.

I mean look at it this way, we've had what a dozen or so negative comments about ratings? And of those, aren't they basically all "[insert rookie on my favorite team] is doing so great, he needs to be much higher!" Well we're at 4830 downloads right now with a very good % rating (yeah those ratings aren't so useful, but all rosters are subject to the same rules there). It just so happens that the overwhelming majority of people using this roster are satisfied, but they are also relatively quiet about it so the perception is something else. You know the squeaky wheel always asks for the grease or something.

Anyone who will jump into this roster with a somewhat open mind (don't fixate so much on the single number that is OVR) and the sim settings I've laid out several times will more than likely not be disappointed.

For rosters with real contracts, how do you go about 2 teams paying one player? Example: White Sox just traded for Shields and are only paying him $27 million of the remaining deal.

If you already started a franchise then there is nothing you can do. Make the trade outside of franchise mode and edit Shields' contract to reflect the amount you want then start a new franchise. That's about all you can do.

Only alternative is to release Shields (in franchise) from SD and sign him with the White Sox.
