Madden NFL 17 News Post

Madden NFL 17 address all three phases of the game on offense, defense, and special teams.

Quote:
Let's start with offense and the new Ball Carrier Controls. We’ve added a tiered system to the types of special moves different players are able to pull off – depending on their attributes, ratings and speed. So now, expect your bigger bruising backs to be more effective with truck moves and stiff arms, while smaller, shiftier backs have more effective jukes and spins. Now don't worry if you’re not a magician yet on the sticks. New Ball Carrier UI Prompts help teach moves available to you, while the new Path Assist helps you navigate and anticipate down field. Additionally on lower skill levels, you can put the work on us and we will pick the appropriate moves for you, unlocking the fun for all of our players. Now, onto the defensive side of the ball.

While the new tools on offense make you a better, more creative ball carrier, the New Defensive AI System is built on up to date NFL Strategies – such as Gap Play, Force Defenders and improved Zone Coverages. It’s time to force your opponents to stop being so one dimensional. New Gap Play AI brings a new level of NFL authenticity and strategy to your defensive teammates. Each of your teammates has a gap assignment on run defense that puts them in position to better defend the run. Force defenders protect the outside of the field, pushing the ball carrier back inside allowing cut back defenders to make the big play. Finally Zone Coverage has been completely overhauled, with the addition of 8 new zone concepts never before seen in Madden. Defenders have more awareness of threats to each zone and can pattern match receivers, creating defensive counters to stop virtually every passing concept. It's our most realistic AI to date and it's across the entire field.

Special Teams, the 3rd phase of football, is where big games are often won and lost. For the first time years we’re bringing the excitement back to special teams. A New Kick Meter is designed to increase the challenge of the kicking game like we see in today’s NFL. Additionally, the ability to ice the kicker allows you to turn up the pressure on those late game winning field goal attempts. New trick plays and a new block kick mechanic add new elements to the risk and reward of Special Teams.

Some features...

I've played a ton of DC, and now Salary Cap MUT, and there is a way to beat everything people try to spam. I will sometimes find myself down 14-0, but will hang in and often turn the tables.

And really, I try to create a scenario where I can use the RAC catch on a bomb. It's much more deadly.
^^^True, Finding ways to beat he best offensive attacks is how football is supposed to be played; these people complaining about how AG catching is over powered wory me, cause EA may nerf something that doesn't need the nerf.

When somoene complains about something being over-powered, I think they should be required to state the players they are using, the plays they are using and any adjustments they are making; otherwise, for all I know, people getting beat by AG catching may have poor football knowledge, poor gaming skills, may have not gotten the right players on defense, in this case, or a number of other issues; maybe they are blitzing too much and leaving players in 1 on 1 situations?

Also, in Rookie and Pro level games, things should be easier - In all-pro and all-madden, I can can't make those AG catches to an over powered level, to any degree...

I just hope, and I assume also, that EA is not going to get too heavy with the nerf hammer...(fingers crossed)

Yeah, I agree. I can't make a full opinion on online H2H, unfortunately as I don't play that mode. And, I tweak my own sliders on all-pro, so it's hard for me to give an unbiased opinion. But, for me, as long as I can remember before/after tweaking sliders, I could NOT complete EVERY AG catch attempted over the top. And, there have been plenty of times that I thought I should get a completion only to get a batted ball or an INT. So, for me, I LOVE the catching mechanics, and think they work fine. As a defender, I almost always use the A button to play the WR and I am able to knock the ball out, frequently. As an FYI, I play exclusively with the Falcons, and I EXPECT Julio to catch EVERYTHING!!! Lol. But, he doesn't. And, if that beast doesn't catch every AG catch attempted, then I don't think there is a problem with it. Lol

Well seems like speed backs are back this guy would be a 95 speed and 76 strength . Well just hope this isn't very common, getting a guy like this should be every other draft or ever 3 drafts (like a Jamal Charles he don't come every year . will see maybe the tier trait system will be more important then speed! Making combine freaks nice but not elite.

Yes, it is disappointing, I would love a more qualitative scouting system like on the NFL scout cards (good hand catcher, slow off release etc) than a guaranteed quantitative system like M16 (where their catch is B+, it will be high 80s and the scout is never wrong). Plus, they reaaaaaalllly need to make sure storylines match the attributes and combine stats being reported... If a person has the highest 40yard dash... make sure he has the highest speed! Or a QB who blew up the senior bowl gets an accuracy boost etc.

Everyone is under NDA, if they know something about the game, it can't be shared right now.

But my problem here is this. Not only did the classes need re working( and im still not convinced it will be done well at that or enough) they dont want to admit their new way of scouting is not good. That is where when i hear things like this, i dont have all that much hope in the "focus on cfm" bringing about alot of change that is needed.

Sorry , just being honest. That new scouting system sucked for online 32 man teams and not addressing that just means its gonna be another year of funless drafts once again. Madden 15 was the best drafts and fun a 32 man league has had .Dissapointing at best

If that's the big stuff I don't think you were told much at all because that's not even that big to me just based on what was discussed when I was there last year. We'll all find out when the blog drops though.

I hope not. Every player shouldn't be fast.

I thought it just showed a faster 40 time not the actual speed rating.

If you cannot provide me or another staff member your source, you are not permitted to post any "insider" information.

Thanks.

I would think that applies to anyone in any situation prior to a game release, especially one of Madden's stature.

Hopefully we get two this week and then either 2 or 3 next week. Also am guessing next week will be busy since they said franchise info will be coming out as well.

they did say that, then retracted and said they was wrong, CFM news is NOT coming out next week, ive said it from the start, expect it on the 27th. Only way id see it sooner is if they released it on that tuesday instead of friday. So id say earliest you see CFM News is the 24th, but expect to wait until the 27th.

4 or 5 game play blogs, nice.

Now no one can say, awwww, CFM got more attention vs game play or equipment and whatever else EA has up their sleeve.

Sounds like they are bringing it.
